DRB ⁵ Et l'Éternel descendit pour voir la ville et la tour que bâtissaient les fils des hommes.

KJV ⁵ And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.

WLC ⁵ וַיֵּ֣רֶד יְהוָ֔ה לִרְאֹ֥ת אֶת־ הָעִ֖יר וְאֶת־ הַמִּגְדָּ֑ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר בָּנ֖וּ בְּנֵ֥י הָאָדָֽם׃

DRB ⁶ Et l'Éternel dit : Voici, c'est un seul peuple, et ils n'ont, eux tous, qu'un seul langage*, et ils ont commencé à faire ceci ; et maintenant ils ne seront empêchés en rien de ce qu'ils pensent faire.

KJV ⁶ And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

VULC ⁶ et dixit : Ecce, unus est populus, et unum labium omnibus : cœperuntque hoc facere, nec desistent a cogitationibus suis, donec eas opere compleant.

WLC ⁶ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָ֗ה הֵ֣ן עַ֤ם אֶחָד֙ וְשָׂפָ֤ה אַחַת֙ לְכֻלָּ֔ם וְזֶ֖ה הַחִלָּ֣ם לַעֲשׂ֑וֹת וְעַתָּה֙ לֹֽא־ יִבָּצֵ֣ר מֵהֶ֔ם כֹּ֛ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָזְמ֖וּ לַֽעֲשֽׂוֹת׃

DRB ⁷ Allons, descendons, et confondons là leur langage, afin qu'ils n'entendent pas le langage l'un de l'autre.

KJV ⁷ Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

VULC ⁷ Venite igitur, descendamus, et confundamus ibi linguam eorum, ut non audiat unusquisque vocem proximi sui.

WLC ⁷ הָ֚בָה נֵֽרְדָ֔ה וְנָבְלָ֥ה שָׁ֖ם שְׂפָתָ֑ם אֲשֶׁר֙ לֹ֣א יִשְׁמְע֔וּ אִ֖ישׁ שְׂפַ֥ת רֵעֵֽהוּ׃

DRB ⁸ Et l'Éternel les dispersa de là sur la face de toute la terre ; et ils cessèrent de bâtir la ville.

KJV ⁸ So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

VULC ⁸ Atque ita divisit eos Dominus ex illo loco in universas terras, et cessaverunt ædificare civitatem.

WLC ⁸ וַיָּ֨פֶץ יְהוָ֥ה אֹתָ֛ם מִשָּׁ֖ם עַל־ פְּנֵ֣י כָל־ הָאָ֑רֶץ וַֽיַּחְדְּל֖וּ לִבְנֹ֥ת הָעִֽיר׃

DRB ⁹ C'est pourquoi on appela son nom Babel*, car là l'Éternel confondit le langage** de toute la terre ; et de là l'Éternel les dispersa sur la face de toute la terre.

KJV ⁹ Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

VULC ⁹ Et idcirco vocatum est nomen ejus Babel, quia ibi confusum est labium universæ terræ : et inde dispersit eos Dominus super faciem cunctarum regionum.
