KJV ⁴ I am a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a buryingplace with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.

VULC ⁴ Advena sum et peregrinus apud vos : date mihi jus sepulchri vobiscum, ut sepeliam mortuum meum.

BCC ⁵ Les fils de Heth répondirent à Abraham en lui disant :

KJV ⁵ And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying unto him,

VULC ⁵ Responderunt filii Heth, dicentes :

BCC ⁶ « Ecoute-nous, mon seigneur ; tu es un prince de Dieu au milieu de nous ; enterre ton mort dans le plus beau de nos sépulcres ; aucun de nous ne te refusera son sépulcre pour y déposer ton mort. »

KJV ⁶ Hear us, my lord: thou art a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead.

VULC ⁶ Audi nos, domine : princeps Dei es apud nos : in electis sepulchris nostris sepeli mortuum tuum, nullusque te prohibere poterit quin in monumento ejus sepelias mortuum tuum.

BCC ⁷ Alors Abraham se leva et, se prosternant devant le peuple du pays, devant les fils de Heth,

KJV ⁷ And Abraham stood up, and bowed himself to the people of the land, even to the children of Heth.

BCC ¹⁰ Or Éphron était assis au milieu des fils de Heth. Éphron le Héthéen répondit à Abraham en présence des fils de Heth, de tous ceux qui entraient par la porte de sa ville ;

KJV ¹⁰ And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth: and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, even of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying,

VULC ¹⁰ Habitabat autem Ephron in medio filiorum Heth. Responditque Ephron ad Abraham, cunctis audientibus qui ingrediebantur portam civitatis illius, dicens :

BCC ¹¹ il lui dit : « Non, mon seigneur, écoute-moi : je te donne le champ et je te donne la caverne qui s'y trouve ;

KJV ¹¹ Nay, my lord, hear me: the field give I thee, and the cave that is therein, I give it thee; in the presence of the sons of my people give I it thee: bury thy dead.

VULC ¹¹ Nequaquam ita fiat, domine mi, sed tu magis ausculta quod loquor. Agrum trado tibi, et speluncam quæ in eo est, præsentibus filiis populi mei ; sepeli mortuum tuum.

KJV ¹² And Abraham bowed down himself before the people of the land.

KJV ¹³ And he spake unto Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou wilt give it, I pray thee, hear me: I will give thee money for the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.

VULC ¹³ Et locutus est ad Ephron circumstante plebe : Quæso ut audias me : dabo pecuniam pro agro : suscipe eam, et sic sepeliam mortuum meum in eo.

BCC ¹⁵ Éphron répondit à Abraham en lui disant : « Mon seigneur, écoute-moi : une terre de quatre cents sicles d'argent, entre moi et toi, qu'est-ce que cela ?

KJV ¹⁵ My lord, hearken unto me: the land is worth four hundred shekels of silver; what is that betwixt me and thee? bury therefore thy dead.

VULC ¹⁵ Domine mi, audi me : terra, quam postulas, quadringentis siclis argenti valet : istud est pretium inter me et te : sed quantum est hoc ? sepeli mortuum tuum.
