Lc 1-6 (Catholique Crampon)

¹ Comme plusieurs ont entrepris de composer une relation des choses accomplies parmi nous, ² conformément à ce que nous ont transmis ceux qui ont été dès le commencement témoins oculaires et ministres de la parole, ³ il m'a paru bon à moi aussi, qui de longue date ai tout suivi avec soin, d'en écrire pour toi le récit suivi, noble Théophile, ⁴ afin que tu reconnaisses la certitude des enseignements que tu as reçus. ⁵ Aux jours d'Hérode, roi de Judée, il y avait un prêtre nommé Zacharie, de la classe d'Abia ; et sa femme, qui était des filles d'Aaron, se nommait Élisabeth. ⁶ Tous deux étaient justes devant Dieu, marchant dans tous les commandements et ordonnances du Seigneur d'une manière irréprochable. ⁷ Et ils n'avaient point d'enfants, parce qu'Élisabeth était stérile, et ils étaient l'un et l'autre avancés en âge. ⁸ Or, comme il était de service devant Dieu au tour de sa classe, ⁹ il lui échut par le sort, selon la coutume du service divin, d'avoir à entrer dans le sanctuaire du Seigneur pour offrir l'encens. ¹⁰ Et toute la multitude du peuple était au dehors en prière, à l'heure de l'encens. ¹¹ Un ange du Seigneur lui apparut, debout à droite de l'autel de l'encens. ¹² Zacharie, en le voyant, fut troublé, et la crainte le saisit. ¹³ Mais l'ange lui dit : "ne crains point, Zacharie, car ta prière a été exaucée : ta femme Élisabeth t'enfantera un fils que tu appelleras Jean. ¹⁴ Et ce sera pour toi joie et allégresse, et beaucoup se réjouiront de sa naissance ; ¹⁵ car il sera grand devant le Seigneur, il ne boira ni vin ni rien qui enivre, et il sera rempli de l'Esprit-Saint dès le sein de sa mère ; ¹⁶ il ramènera beaucoup des enfants d'Israël au Seigneur leur Dieu ; ¹⁷ et lui-même marchera devant lui, avec l'esprit et la puissance d'Élie, pour ramener les coeurs des pères vers les enfants et les indociles à la sagesse des justes, afin de préparer au Seigneur un peuple bien disposé. " ¹⁸ Zacharie dit à l'ange : "à quoi le reconnaîtrai-je ? Car je suis vieux, et ma femme est avancée en âge." ¹⁹ L'ange lui répondit : "je suis Gabriel, qui me tiens devant Dieu ; j'ai été envoyé pour te parler et t'annoncer cette heureuse nouvelle. ²⁰ Et voici : tu seras muet et ne pourras parler jusqu'au jour où ces choses arriveront, parce que tu n'as pas cru à mes paroles, qui s'accompliront en leur temps." ²¹ Cependant le peuple attendait Zacharie et on s'étonnait qu'il s'attardât dans le sanctuaire. ²² Or, étant sorti, il ne pouvait leur parler, et ils comprirent qu'il avait eu une vision dans le sanctuaire ; et lui leur faisait des signes, et il resta muet. ²³ Quand les jours de son service furent accomplis, il s'en alla en sa maison. ²⁴ Après ces jours, Élisabeth, sa femme, conçut, et elle se tint cachée pendant cinq mois, disant : ²⁵ "Ainsi a fait pour moi le Seigneur, au jour où il lui a plu d'ôter mon opprobre parmi les hommes." ²⁶ Au sixième mois, l'ange Gabriel fut envoyé par Dieu dans une ville de Galilée appelée Nazareth, ²⁷ vers une vierge qui était fiancée à un homme de la maison de David, nommé Joseph ; et le nom de la vierge était Marie. ²⁸ Etant entré où elle était, il lui dit : " Salut, pleine de grâce ! Le Seigneur est avec vous ; [vous êtes bénie entre les femmes]. " ²⁹ Mais à cette parole elle fut fort troublée, et elle se demandait ce que pouvait être cette salutation. ³⁰ L'ange lui dit : "ne craignez point, Marie, car vous avez trouvé grâce devant Dieu. ³¹ Voici que vous concevrez, et vous enfanterez un fils, et vous lui donnerez le nom de Jésus. ³² Il sera grand et sera appelé fils du Très-Haut ; le Seigneur Dieu lui donnera le trône de David son père ; ³³ il règnera éternellement sur la maison de Jacob, et son règne n'aura point de fin." ³⁴ Marie dit à l'ange : "comment cela sera-t-il, puisque je ne connais point l'homme ?" ³⁵ L'ange lui répondit : "l'Esprit-Saint viendra sur vous, et la vertu du Très-Haut vous couvrira de son ombre. C'est pourquoi l'être saint qui naîtra sera appelé Fils de Dieu. ³⁶ Et voici qu'Élisabeth, votre parente, a conçu, elle aussi, un fils dans sa vieillesse, et ce mois-ci est le sixième pour elle que l'on appelait stérile, ³⁷ car rien ne sera impossible pour Dieu." ³⁸ Marie dit alors : "voici la servante du Seigneur : qu'il me soit fait selon votre parole !" Et l'ange la quitta. ³⁹ En ces jours-là Marie partit et s'en alla en hâte vers la montagne, en une ville de Juda. ⁴⁰ Et elle entra dans la maison de Zacharie, et salua Élisabeth. ⁴¹ Or, quand Élisabeth entendit la salutation de Marie, l'enfant tressaillit dans son sein, et elle fut remplie du Saint-Esprit. ⁴² Et elle s'écria à haute voix, disant : "vous êtes bénie entre les femmes, et le fruit de vos entrailles est béni. ⁴³ Et d'où m'est-il donné que la mère de mon Seigneur vienne à moi ? ⁴⁴ Car votre voix, lorsque vous m'avez saluée, n'a pas plus tôt frappé mes oreilles, que l'enfant a tressailli de joie dans mon sein. ⁴⁵ Heureuse celle qui a cru ! Car elles seront accomplies les choses qui lui ont été dites de la part du Seigneur ! " ⁴⁶ Et Marie dit : "mon âme glorifie le Seigneur, ⁴⁷ et mon esprit tressaille de joie en Dieu, mon Sauveur, ⁴⁸ parce qu'il a jeté les yeux sur la bassesse de sa servante. Voici, en effet, que désormais toutes les générations me diront bienheureuse, ⁴⁹ parce que le Puissant a fait pour moi de grandes choses. Et son nom est saint, ⁵⁰ et sa miséricorde d'âge en âge, est pour ceux qui le craignent. ⁵¹ Il a fait oeuvre de force avec son bras ; il a dissipé ceux qui s'enorgueillissaient dans les pensées de leur coeur ; ⁵² il a renversé de leur trône les potentats, et il a élevé les humbles ; ⁵³ il a rassasié de biens les affamés, et il a renvoyé les riches les mains vides. ⁵⁴ Il a pris soin d'Israël son serviteur, se ressouvenant de sa miséricorde, ⁵⁵ ‒ ainsi qu'il l'avait promis à nos pères, ‒ en faveur d'Abraham et de sa race, pour toujours." ⁵⁶ Et Marie demeura avec elle environ trois mois, et elle s'en retourna chez elle. ⁵⁷ Cependant le temps s'accomplit où Élisabeth devait enfanter, et elle mit au monde un fils. ⁵⁸ Ses voisins et ses parents, ayant appris que le Seigneur avait manifesté sa miséricorde envers elle, se réjouissaient avec elle. ⁵⁹ Or, le huitième jour, ils vinrent pour circoncire l'enfant, et ils le nommaient Zacharie d'après le nom de son père. ⁶⁰ Alors sa mère, prenant la parole : "non, dit-elle, mais il s'appellera Jean." ⁶¹ Ils lui dirent : "il n'y a personne de votre parenté qui soit appelé de ce nom." ⁶² Et ils demandaient par signes à son père comment il voulait qu'on le nommât. ⁶³ S'étant fait donner une tablette, il écrivit : "Jean est son nom ;" et tous furent dans l'étonnement. ⁶⁴ À l'instant sa bouche s'ouvrit et sa langue (se délia) ; et il parlait, bénissant Dieu. ⁶⁵ La crainte s'empara de tous les habitants d'alentour, et partout dans la montagne de Judée on racontait toutes ces choses. ⁶⁶ Tous ceux qui en entendirent parler les recueillirent dans leur coeur, et ils disaient : " Que sera donc cet enfant ? " Et en effet la main du Seigneur était avec lui. ⁶⁷ Et Zacharie, son père, fut rempli de l'Esprit-Saint, et il prophétisa, en disant : ⁶⁸ "Béni soit le Seigneur, le Dieu d'Israël, parce qu'il a visité et racheté son peuple. ⁶⁹ et qu'il a suscité pour nous une corne de salut, dans la maison de David, son serviteur, ⁷⁰ ‒ ainsi qu'il l'a promis par la bouche de ses saints prophètes, dès les temps anciens, ‒ ⁷¹ pour nous sauver de nos ennemis et de la main de tous ceux qui nous haïssent, ⁷² afin d'exercer sa miséricorde envers nos pères et de se souvenir de son pacte saint, ⁷³ du serment qu'il fit à Abraham, notre père, de nous accorder que, ⁷⁴ sans crainte, affranchis de la main de nos ennemis, nous le servions, ⁷⁵ avec sainteté et justice devant lui, tous les jours de notre (vie). ⁷⁶ Quant à toi, petit enfant, tu seras appelé prophète du Très-Haut, car tu marcheras devant la face du Seigneur pour lui préparer les voies, ⁷⁷ afin d'apprendre à son peuple à reconnaître le salut dans la rémission de leurs péchés, ⁷⁸ par l'effet de la tendre miséricorde de notre Dieu, par laquelle nous visitera une lumière d'en haut ⁷⁹ pour éclairer ceux qui sont assis dans les ténèbres et l'ombre de la mort, pour diriger nos pas dans la voie de la paix. " ⁸⁰ Or l'enfant croissait et se fortifiait en esprit, et il demeura dans le désert jusqu'au jour de sa manifestation devant Israël.

Luc 2

¹ Or, en ces jours-là, fut publié un édit de César Auguste, pour le recensement de toute la terre. ² Ce premier recensement eut lieu pendant que Quirinius était gouverneur de Syrie. ³ Et tous allaient se faire recenser, chacun dans sa ville. ⁴ Joseph aussi monta de Galilée, de la ville de Nazareth, en Judée, à la ville de David, qui s'appelle Bethléem, parce qu'il était de la maison et de la famille de David, ⁵ pour se faire recenser avec Marie son épouse, qui était enceinte. ⁶ Or, pendant qu'ils étaient là, le temps où elle devait enfanter s'accomplit, ⁷ et elle mit au monde son fils premier-né, l'emmaillota et le coucha dans une crèche, parce qu'il n'y avait pas de place pour eux dans l'hôtellerie. ⁸ Il y avait dans la même région des bergers qui vivaient aux champs et qui veillaient la nuit sur leur troupeau. ⁹ Un ange du Seigneur parut auprès d'eux et la gloire du Seigneur les enveloppa de clarté, et ils furent saisis d'une grande crainte. ¹⁰ Mais l'ange leur dit : "ne craignez point, car je vous annonce une nouvelle qui sera pour tout le peuple une grande joie : ¹¹ il vous est né aujourd'hui, dans la ville de David, un Sauveur, qui est le Christ Seigneur. ¹² Et voici ce qui vous en sera le signe : vous trouverez un nouveau-né emmailloté et couché dans une crèche." ¹³ Tout à coup se joignit à l'ange une troupe de la milice céleste, louant Dieu et disant : ¹⁴ "Gloire, dans les hauteurs, à Dieu ! Et, sur terre, paix chez les hommes de bon vouloir !" ¹⁵ Lorsque les anges, s'en allant au ciel, les eurent quittés, les bergers se dirent entre eux : "passons donc jusqu'à Bethléem, et voyons cet événement qui est arrivé, et que le Seigneur nous a fait connaître." ¹⁶ Ils s'y rendirent en toute hâte, et trouvèrent Marie, Joseph et le nouveau-né couché dans la crèche. ¹⁷ Après avoir vu, ils firent connaître ce qui leur avait été dit au sujet de cet enfant. ¹⁸ Et tous ceux qui les entendirent furent dans l'admiration de ce que leur avaient dit les bergers. ¹⁹ Quant à Marie, elle conservait avec soin toutes ces choses, les méditant dans son coeur. ²⁰ Et les bergers s'en retournèrent, glorifiant et louant Dieu de tout ce qu'il avaient entendu et vu, selon ce qui leur avait été dit. ²¹ Les huit jours étant accomplis pour sa circoncision, il fut appelé du nom de Jésus, nom que l'ange avait donné avant qu'il eût été conçu dans le sein maternel. ²² Puis, lorsque les jours de leur purification furent accomplis, selon la loi de Moïse, ils le menèrent à Jérusalem pour le présenter au Seigneur, ²³ selon qu'il est écrit dans la loi du Seigneur : Tout mâle premier-né sera regardé comme consacré au Seigneur, ²⁴ et pour offrir en sacrifice, ainsi qu'il est dit dans la loi du Seigneur, une paire de tourterelles ou deux petites colombes. ²⁵ Or, il y avait à Jérusalem un homme nommé Siméon ; c'était un homme juste et pieux, qui attendait la consolation d'Israël, et l'Esprit-Saint était sur lui. ²⁶ L'Esprit-Saint lui avait révélé qu'il ne mourrait point avant d'avoir vu le Christ du Seigneur. ²⁷ Il vint donc dans le temple, poussé par l'Esprit. Et comme ses parents amenaient l'enfant Jésus pour observer les coutumes légales à son égard, ²⁸ lui-même le reçut en ses bras, et il bénit Dieu en disant : ²⁹ "Maintenant, ô Maître, vous congédiez votre serviteur en paix, selon votre parole ; ³⁰ car mes yeux ont vu le salut, ³¹ que vous avez préparé à la face de tous les peuples, ³² lumière qui doit éclairer les nations et gloire d'Israël, votre peuple." ³³ Et son père et sa mère étaient dans l'étonnement pour les choses que l'on disait de lui. ³⁴ Et Siméon les bénit, et il dit à Marie, sa mère : " Voici qu'il est placé pour la chute et le relèvement d'un grand nombre en Israël, et pour être un signe en butte à la contradiction, ‒ ³⁵ vous-même, un glaive transpercera votre âme, ‒ afin que soient révélées les pensées d'un grand nombre de coeurs." ³⁶ Il y avait aussi une prophétesse, Anne, fille de Phanouel, de la tribu d'Aser ; elle était fort avancée en âge, ayant vécu, depuis sa virginité, sept ans avec son mari, ³⁷ et veuve jusqu'à quatre-vingt-quatre ans. Elle ne quittait point le temple, servant Dieu nuit et jour par des jeûnes et des prières. ³⁸ Survenant à cette heure, elle se mit à louer Dieu et à parler de l'enfant à tous ceux qui attendaient la délivrance de Jérusalem. ³⁹ Lorsqu'ils eurent accompli tout ce qui était selon la loi du Seigneur, ils retournèrent en Galilée, à Nazareth, leur ville. ⁴⁰ L'enfant croissait et se fortifiait, étant rempli de sagesse, et la grâce de Dieu était sur lui. ⁴¹ Or ses parents se rendaient chaque année à Jérusalem, pour la fête de la Pâque. ⁴² Quand il eut douze ans, comme ils étaient montés selon la coutume de la fête, ⁴³ et qu'ils s'en retournaient, le temps étant passé, l'enfant Jésus resta à Jérusalem et ses parents ne le surent pas. ⁴⁴ Pensant qu'il était avec la caravane, ils marchèrent tout un jour, puis ils le cherchèrent parmi leurs parents et leurs connaissances. ⁴⁵ Ne l'ayant point trouvé, ils s'en retournèrent à Jérusalem en le recherchant. ⁴⁶ Or, au bout de trois jours, ils le trouvèrent dans le temple, assis au milieu des docteurs, les écoutant et les interrogeant ; ⁴⁷ et tous ceux qui l'entendaient étaient ravis de son intelligence et de ses réponses. ⁴⁸ En le voyant, ils furent stupéfaits, et sa mère lui dit : " Mon enfant, pourquoi nous avez-vous fait cela ? Voyez, votre père et moi, nous vous cherchions tout affligés." ⁴⁹ Et il leur répondit : " Pourquoi me cherchiez-vous ? Ne saviez-vous pas qu'il me faut être dans les choses de mon Père ? " ⁵⁰ Mais ils ne comprirent pas la parole qu'il leur dit. ⁵¹ Et il descendit avec eux, et il vint à Nazareth, et il leur était soumis. Et sa mère conservait toutes ces choses en son coeur. ⁵² Et Jésus progressait en sagesse, en taille et en grâce, auprès de Dieu et des hommes.

Luc 3

¹ La quinzième année du règne de Tibère César, Ponce Pilate étant gouverneur de la Judée ; Hérode, tétrarque de la Galilée ; Philippe, son frère, tétrarque de l'Iturée et du pays de la Trachonitide, et Lysanias, tétrarque de l'Abilène ; ² au temps des grands prêtres Anne et Caïphe, la parole de Dieu fut sur Jean, fils de Zacharie, dans le désert. ³ Et il vint dans toute la région du Jourdain, prêchant un baptême de repentir pour la rémission des péchés, ⁴ ainsi qu'il est écrit au livre des oracles du prophète Isaïe : Voix de celui qui crie dans le désert : Préparez le chemin du Seigneur, aplanissez ses sentiers. ⁵ Toute vallée sera comblée, toute montagne et colline seront abaissées ; les chemins tortueux deviendront droits, et les raboteux unis. ⁶ Et toute chair verra le salut de Dieu. ⁷ Il disait donc aux foules qui s'en venaient se faire baptiser par lui : "race de vipères, qui vous a appris à fuir la colère qui vient ? ⁸ Faites donc de dignes fruits de repentir et n'allez pas dire en vous-mêmes : nous avons Abraham pour père ! Car je vous dis que de ces pierres mêmes Dieu peut faire naître des enfants à Abraham. ⁹ Déjà la cognée est à la racine des arbres : tout arbre donc qui ne porte pas de bon fruit sera coupé et jeté au feu. " ¹⁰ Et les foules lui demandaient : "que devons-nous donc faire ?" ¹¹ Il leur répondait : "que celui qui a deux tuniques en donne une à qui n'en a point, et que celui qui a de quoi manger fasse de même." ¹² Il vint aussi des publicains pour se faire baptiser et ils lui dirent : "Maître, que devons-nous faire ?" ¹³ Il leur dit : "n'exigez rien au delà de ce qui vous est prescrit." ¹⁴ Des gens de la milice aussi lui demandèrent : "et nous, que devons-nous faire ?" Il leur dit :" ne molestez ni ne dénoncez faussement personne, et contentez-vous de votre solde." ¹⁵ Comme le peuple s'y attendait, et que tous se demandaient dans leurs coeurs, relativement à Jean, s'il n'était pas le Christ, ¹⁶ Jean, s'adressant à tous, dit : "Moi, je vous baptise avec l'eau ; mais il vient, celui qui est plus puissant que moi, et dont je ne suis pas digne de délier la courroie de ses sandales ; lui, il vous baptisera dans l'Esprit-Saint et le feu. ¹⁷ Dans sa main est le van pour nettoyer son aire et amasser le froment dans son grenier, et il brûlera la paille dans un feu qui ne s'éteint point. " ¹⁸ Par ces exhortations donc, et beaucoup d'autres, il annonçait au peuple la bonne nouvelle. ¹⁹ Mais Hérode le tétrarque, repris par lui au sujet d'Hérodiade, la femme de son frère, et au sujet de tous les méfaits que lui, Hérode, avait commis, ²⁰ en ajouta un à tous les autres, en enfermant Jean en prison. ²¹ Or, quand tout le peuple eut reçu le baptême, et que Jésus qui avait été baptisé priait, le ciel s'ouvrit, ²² et L'Esprit-Saint descendit sur lui sous une forme corporelle, comme une colombe, et du ciel il y eut une voix : " Tu es mon Fils bien-aimé : en toi j'ai mes complaisances. Luc 4

¹ Jésus, rempli de l'Esprit-Saint, revint du Jourdain, et il fut conduit par l'Esprit dans le désert, ² pendant quarante jours tenté par le diable. Il ne mangea rien durant ces jours-là, et, quand ils furent passés, il eut faim. ³ Le diable lui dit : "si vous êtes le fils de Dieu, dites à cette pierre qu'elle devienne du pain. " ⁴ Jésus lui répondit : "il est écrit : L'homme ne vit pas seulement de pain." ⁵ Et l'ayant élevé, il lui montra en un instant tous les royaumes de la terre, ⁶ et le diable lui dit : "Je vous donnerai toute cette puissance avec leur gloire, car elle m'a été remise et je la donne à qui je veux. ⁷ Si donc vous vous prosternez devant moi, elle sera toute à vous." ⁸ Jésus répondant lui dit : "il est écrit : tu adoreras le Seigneur, ton dieu, et tu ne serviras que lui seul." ⁹ Il le conduisit à Jérusalem, et le posa sur le pinacle du temple et lui dit : "si vous êtes Fils de Dieu, jetez-vous d'ici en bas ; ¹⁰ car il est écrit : Il donnera pour vous des ordres à ses anges pour vous garder, ¹¹ et : Ils vous prendront sur leurs mains, de peur que votre pied ne heurte contre une pierre." ¹² Jésus répondant lui dit : "il est dit : Tu ne tenteras point le Seigneur, ton Dieu." ¹³ Ayant épuisé toute tentation, le diable s'éloigna de lui jusqu'au temps (marqué). ¹⁴ Jésus retourna avec la puissance de l'Esprit en Galilée, et sa renommée se répandit dans toute la région. ¹⁵ Et il enseignait dans leurs synagogues, et tous publiaient ses louanges. ¹⁶ Il vint à Nazareth, où il avait été élevé, et il entra, selon sa coutume le jour du sabbat, dans la synagogue, et il se leva pour faire la lecture. ¹⁷ On lui remit le livre du prophète Isaïe ; et ayant déroulé le livre, il trouva l'endroit où il était écrit : ¹⁸ L'Esprit du Seigneur est sur moi, parce qu'il m'a oint pour annoncer la bonne nouvelle aux pauvres ; il m'a envoyé publier aux captifs la délivrance, aux aveugles le retour à la vue, renvoyer libres les opprimés, ¹⁹ publier l'année favorable du Seigneur. ²⁰ Ayant roulé le livre, il le rendit à l'employé et s'assit ; et tous, dans la synagogue, avaient les yeux attachés sur lui. ²¹ Il se mit à dire à leur adresse : "aujourd'hui cette Écriture est accomplie devant vous." ²² Et tous lui rendaient témoignage et admiraient les paroles toutes de grâce qui sortaient de sa bouche, et ils disaient : " N'est-ce pas là le fils de Joseph ?" ²³ Et il leur dit : " Sans doute, vous me direz cet adage : Médecin, guéris-toi toi-même.    ⁴⁰ et intravit in domum Zachariæ, et salutavit Elisabeth.
   ⁴¹ Et factum est, ut audivit salutationem Mariæ Elisabeth, exsultavit infans in utero ejus : et repleta est Spiritu Sancto Elisabeth :
   ⁴² et exclamavit voce magna, et dixit : Benedicta tu inter mulieres, et benedictus fructus ventris tui.
   ⁴³ Et unde hoc mihi, ut veniat mater Domini mei ad me ?
   ⁴⁴ Ecce enim ut facta est vox salutationis tuæ in auribus meis, exsultavit in gaudio infans in utero meo.
   ⁴⁵ Et beata, quæ credidisti, quoniam perficientur ea, quæ dicta sunt tibi a Domino.
   ⁴⁶ Et ait Maria : [Magnificat anima mea Dominum :
   ⁴⁷ et exsultavit spiritus meus in Deo salutari meo.
   ⁴⁸ Quia respexit humilitatem ancillæ suæ :

   ⁵⁸ Et audierunt vicini et cognati ejus quia magnificavit Dominus misericordiam suam cum illa, et congratulabantur ei.
   ⁵⁹ Et factum est in die octavo, venerunt circumcidere puerum, et vocabant eum nomine patris sui Zachariam.
   ⁶⁰ Et respondens mater ejus, dixit : Nequaquam, sed vocabitur Joannes.
   ⁶¹ Et dixerunt ad illam : Quia nemo est in cognatione tua, qui vocetur hoc nomine.
   ⁶² Innuebant autem patri ejus, quem vellet vocari eum.
   ⁶³ Et postulans pugillarem scripsit, dicens : Joannes est nomen ejus. Et mirati sunt universi.
   ⁶⁴ Apertum est autem illico os ejus, et lingua ejus, et loquebatur benedicens Deum.
   ⁶⁵ Et factus est timor super omnes vicinos eorum : et super omnia montana Judææ divulgabantur omnia verba hæc :
   ⁶⁶ et posuerunt omnes qui audierant in corde suo, dicentes : Quis, putas, puer iste erit ? etenim manus Domini erat cum illo.
   ⁶⁷ Et Zacharias pater ejus repletus est Spiritu Sancto : et prophetavit, dicens :

   ²¹ Et postquam consummati sunt dies octo, ut circumcideretur puer, vocatum est nomen ejus Jesus, quod vocatum est ab angelo priusquam in utero conciperetur.
   ²² Et postquam impleti sunt dies purgationis ejus secundum legem Moysi, tulerunt illum in Jerusalem, ut sisterent eum Domino,
   ²³ sicut scriptum est in lege Domini : Quia omne masculinum adaperiens vulvam, sanctum Domino vocabitur :
   ²⁴ et ut darent hostiam secundum quod dictum est in lege Domini, par turturum, aut duos pullos columbarum.
   ²⁵ Et ecce homo erat in Jerusalem, cui nomen Simeon, et homo iste justus, et timoratus, exspectans consolationem Israël : et Spiritus Sanctus erat in eo.
   ²⁶ Et responsum acceperat a Spiritu Sancto, non visurum se mortem, nisi prius videret Christum Domini.
   ²⁷ Et venit in spiritu in templum. Et cum inducerent puerum Jesum parentes ejus, ut facerent secundum consuetudinem legis pro eo,

   ³⁵ et tuam ipsius animam pertransibit gladius ut revelentur ex multis cordibus cogitationes.

   ³⁹ Et ut perfecerunt omnia secundum legem Domini, reversi sunt in Galilæam in civitatem suam Nazareth.
   ⁴⁰ Puer autem crescebat, et confortabatur plenus sapientia : et gratia Dei erat in illo.
   ⁴¹ Et ibant parentes ejus per omnes annos in Jerusalem, in die solemni Paschæ.
   ⁴² Et cum factus esset annorum duodecim, ascendentibus illis Jerosolymam secundum consuetudinem diei festi,
   ⁴³ consummatisque diebus, cum redirent, remansit puer Jesus in Jerusalem, et non cognoverunt parentes ejus.
   ⁴⁴ Existimantes autem illum esse in comitatu, venerunt iter diei, et requirebant eum inter cognatos et notos.
   ⁴⁵ Et non invenientes, regressi sunt in Jerusalem, requirentes eum.
   ⁴⁶ Et factum est, post triduum invenerunt illum in templo sedentem in medio doctorum, audientem illos, et interrogantem eos.
   ⁴⁷ Stupebant autem omnes qui eum audiebant, super prudentia et responsis ejus.
   ⁴⁸ Et videntes admirati sunt. Et dixit mater ejus ad illum : Fili, quid fecisti nobis sic ? ecce pater tuus et ego dolentes quærebamus te.
   ⁴⁹ Et ait ad illos : Quid est quod me quærebatis ? nesciebatis quia in his quæ Patris mei sunt, oportet me esse ?
   ⁵⁰ Et ipsi non intellexerunt verbum quod locutus est ad eos.
   ⁵¹ Et descendit cum eis, et venit Nazareth : et erat subditus illis. Et mater ejus conservabat omnia verba hæc in corde suo.

   ⁹ Jam enim securis ad radicem arborum posita est. Omnis ergo arbor non faciens fructum bonum, excidetur, et in ignem mittetur.
   ¹⁰ Et interrogabant eum turbæ, dicentes : Quid ergo faciemus ?
   ¹¹ Respondens autem dicebat illis : Qui habet duas tunicas, det non habenti : et qui habet escas, similiter faciat.

   ¹³ At ille dixit ad eos : Nihil amplius, quam quod constitutum est vobis, faciatis.
   ¹⁴ Interrogabant autem eum et milites, dicentes : Quid faciemus et nos ? Et ait illis : Neminem concutiatis, neque calumniam faciatis : et contenti estote stipendiis vestris.

   ²⁰ Et cum plicuisset librum, reddidit ministro, et sedit. Et omnium in synagoga oculi erant intendentes in eum.
   ²¹ Cœpit autem dicere ad illos : Quia hodie impleta est hæc scriptura in auribus vestris.

   ²⁷ Et multi leprosi erant in Israël sub Eliseo propheta : et nemo eorum mundatus est nisi Naaman Syrus.
