BAN ¹ Et il arriva, comme il était en prière en un certain lieu, que lorsqu'il eut cessé, l'un de ses disciples lui dit : Seigneur, enseigne-nous à prier, comme Jean l'a aussi enseigné à ses disciples.

KJV ¹ And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.

BAN ² Or il leur dit : Quand vous priez, dites : Père ! Que ton nom soit sanctifié. Que ton règne vienne.

KJV ² And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

BAN ³ Donne-nous chaque jour notre pain quotidien,

KJV ³ Give us day by day our daily bread.

BAN ⁴ et remets-nous nos péchés, car nous-mêmes aussi nous remettons à quiconque nous doit. Et ne nous induis point en tentation.

KJV ⁴ And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

BAN ⁵ Et il leur dit : Si quelqu'un d'entre vous a un ami, et qu'il aille vers lui au milieu de la nuit, et lui dise : Ami, prête-moi trois pains ;

KJV ⁵ And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;

BAN ⁶ car un de mes amis est arrivé chez moi de voyage, et je n'ai rien à lui offrir ;

KJV ⁶ For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?

BAN ⁷ et que celui-ci répondant de l'intérieur dise : Ne m'importune pas ; ma porte est déjà fermée et mes petits enfants sont avec moi au lit ; je ne puis me lever pour t'en donner :

KJV ⁷ And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.

BAN ⁸ je vous le dis, si même il ne se lève pas pour lui en donner, parce qu'il est son ami, toutefois, à cause de son importunité, il se lèvera et lui en donnera autant qu'il en aura besoin.

KJV ⁸ I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.

BAN ⁹ Et moi, je vous dis : Demandez, et il vous sera donné ; cherchez, et vous trouverez ; heurtez, et il vous sera ouvert ;

KJV ⁹ And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

BAN ¹⁰ car quiconque demande, reçoit ; et qui cherche, trouve ; et à celui qui heurte, il sera ouvert.

KJV ¹⁰ For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

BAN ¹¹ Or quel père d'entre vous, quand son fils lui demandera du pain, lui donnera une pierre ? Ou encore quand il lui demandera un poisson, lui donnera un serpent au lieu d'un poisson ?

KJV ¹¹ If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?

BAN ¹² Ou encore quand il lui demandera un oeuf, lui donnera un scorpion ?

KJV ¹² Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?

BAN ¹³ Si donc vous, qui êtes mauvais, savez donner de bonnes choses à vos enfants, combien plus le Père qui est du ciel donnera-t-il l'Esprit-Saint à ceux qui le lui demandent !

KJV ¹³ If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
