Lc 17:7-10 (King James)

⁷ But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat? ⁸ And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink? ⁹ Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not. ¹⁰ So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

⁷ »Si l'un de vous a un esclave qui laboure ou garde les troupeaux, lui dira-t-il, à son retour des champs: ‘Viens tout de suite te mettre à table'? ⁸ Ne lui dira-t-il pas au contraire: ‘Prépare-moi à souper, ajuste ta tenue pour me servir jusqu'à ce que j'aie mangé et bu; après cela, toi, tu mangeras et tu boiras'? ⁹ A-t-il de la reconnaissance envers cet esclave parce qu'il a fait ce qui lui était ordonné? [Je ne pense pas.] ¹⁰ Vous de même, quand vous avez fait tout ce qui vous a été ordonné, dites: ‘Nous sommes des serviteurs inutiles, nous avons fait ce que nous devions faire.'»
