BCC ¹ Et il leur disait une parabole sur la nécessité de toujours prier et de ne pas se lasser.

KJV ¹ And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

BCC ² Il dit : "il y avait dans une ville un juge qui ne craignait point Dieu et n'avait point égard aux hommes.

KJV ² Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:

BCC ³ Et il y avait dans cette ville une veuve qui venait à lui et disait : "fais-moi justice de mon adversaire."

KJV ³ And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

BCC ⁴ Et pendant un temps il ne le voulait pas. Après quoi cependant il se dit en lui-même : " Encore que je ne craigne pas Dieu et que je n'aie pas égard aux hommes,

KJV ⁴ And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

BCC ⁵ néanmoins, parce que cette veuve m'importune, je lui ferai justice, pour qu'elle ne vienne pas me rompre la tête éternellement."

KJV ⁵ Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

BCC ⁶ Et le Seigneur dit : écoutez ce que dit le juge inique !

KJV ⁶ And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.

BCC ⁷ Et Dieu ne ferait pas justice à ses élus qui crient à lui nuit et jour, lui qui use de patience envers eux ?

KJV ⁷ And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?

BCC ⁸ Je vous le dis, il leur fera justice promptement. Seulement, quand le Fils de l'homme viendra, trouvera-t-il la foi sur terre ?"

KJV ⁸ I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

BCC ⁹ Il dit encore cette parabole à l'adresse de certains qui avaient en eux-mêmes la conviction d'être justes et qui méprisaient les autres :

KJV ⁹ And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

BCC ¹⁰ "Deux homme montèrent au temple pour prier, l'un Pharisien et l'autre publicain.

KJV ¹⁰ Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

BCC ¹¹ Le Pharisien, s'étant arrêté, priait ainsi en lui-même : "ô Dieu, je vous rends grâces de ce que je ne suis pas comme le reste des hommes, qui sont rapaces, injustes, adultères, ni encore comme ce publicain.

KJV ¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

BCC ¹² Je jeûne deux fois la semaine ; je paie la dîme de tout ce que j'acquiers."

KJV ¹² I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

BCC ¹³ Le publicain, se tenant à distance, n'osait pas même lever les yeux au ciel ; mais il se frappait la poitrine en disant : "ô Dieu, ayez pitié de moi le pécheur !"

KJV ¹³ And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

BCC ¹⁴ Je vous le dis, celui-ci descendit dans sa maison justifié, plutôt que celui-là ; car quiconque s'élève sera abaissé, et qui s'abaisse sera élevé."

KJV ¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

BCC ¹⁵ On lui amenait aussi les tout petits pour qu'il les touchât ; ce que voyant, les disciples les gourmandaient.

KJV ¹⁵ And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

BCC ¹⁶ Mais Jésus les appela à lui, disant : "laissez les petits enfants venir à moi, et ne les en empêchez pas ; car le royaume de Dieu est à ceux qui leur ressemblent.

KJV ¹⁶ But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

BCC ¹⁷ Je vous le dis, en vérité : qui ne recevra pas comme un petit enfant le royaume de Dieu n'y entrera point. "

KJV ¹⁷ Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
