DRB ² comme il est écrit dans Ésaïe le prophète : «Voici, moi j'envoie mon messager devant ta face, lequel préparera ton chemin» {Malachie 3:1}.

KJV ² As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

TR1550 ² ης γέγραπται ἐν τοῖς προφήταις, ἰδού, ἐγὼ ἀποστέλλω τὸν ἄγγελόν μου πρὸ προσώπου σου ὃς κατασκευάσει τὴν ὁδόν σου ἔμπροσθέν σου,

DRB ³ «Voix de celui qui crie dans le désert : Préparez le chemin du *Seigneur, faites droits ses sentiers» {Ésaïe 40:3}.

KJV ³ The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

TR1550 ³ φωνὴ βοῶντος ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ἑτοιμάσατε τὴν ὁδὸν κυρίου εὐθείας ποιεῖτε τὰς τρίβους αὐτοῦ

DRB ⁴ Jean vint, baptisant dans le désert, et prêchant le baptême de repentance en rémission de péchés.

KJV ⁴ John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

TR1550 ⁴ ἐγένετο ἰωάννης βαπτίζων ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ καὶ κηρύσσων βάπτισμα μετανοίας εἰς ἄφεσιν ἁμαρτιῶν

DRB ⁵ Et tout le pays de Judée et tous ceux de Jérusalem sortaient vers lui ; et ils étaient baptisés par lui dans le fleuve du Jourdain, confessant leurs péchés.

KJV ⁵ And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.

DRB ⁶ Or Jean était vêtu de poil de chameau et d'une ceinture de cuir autour des reins, et il mangeait des sauterelles et du miel sauvage.

KJV ⁶ And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;

DRB ⁷ Et il prêchait, disant : Il vient après moi, celui qui est plus puissant que moi, duquel je ne suis pas digne de délier, en me baissant, la courroie des sandales.

KJV ⁷ And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.

TR1550 ⁷ καὶ ἐκήρυσσεν λέγων, ἕρχεται ὁ ἰσχυρότερός μου ὀπίσω μου οὗ οὐκ εἰμὶ ἱκανὸς κύψας λῦσαι τὸν ἱμάντα τῶν ὑποδημάτων αὐτοῦ

DRB ⁸ Moi, je vous ai baptisés d'eau ; lui, vous baptisera de l'Esprit Saint.

KJV ⁸ I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

DRB ⁹ Et il arriva, en ces jours-là, que Jésus vint de Nazareth de Galilée, et fut baptisé par Jean au Jourdain.

KJV ⁹ And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.

TR1550 ⁹ καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν ἐκείναις ταῖς ἡμέραις ἦλθεν ἰησοῦς ἀπὸ ναζαρὲτ τῆς γαλιλαίας καὶ ἐβαπτίσθη ὑπὸ ἰωάννου εἰς τὸν ἰορδάνην

DRB ¹⁰ Et [s'éloignant] aussitôt de l'eau, il monta, et vit les cieux se fendre, et l'Esprit comme une colombe descendre sur lui.

KJV ¹⁰ And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:

TR1550 ¹⁰ καὶ εὐθὲως ἀναβαίνων ἀπὸ τοῦ ὕδατος εἶδεν σχιζομένους τοὺς οὐρανοὺς καὶ τὸ πνεῦμα ὡσεὶ περιστερὰν καταβαῖνον ἐπ᾽ αὐτόν

DRB ¹¹ Et il y eut une voix qui venait des cieux : Tu es mon Fils bien-aimé ; en toi j'ai trouvé mon plaisir.

KJV ¹¹ And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

DRB ¹² Et aussitôt l'Esprit le pousse dans le désert.

KJV ¹² And immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness.

DRB ¹³ Et il fut dans le désert quarante jours, tenté par Satan ; et il était avec les bêtes sauvages ; et les anges le servaient.

KJV ¹³ And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.

KJV ¹⁴ Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

DRB ¹⁵ et disant : Le temps est accompli, et le royaume de Dieu s'est approché : repentez-vous et croyez à l'évangile.

KJV ¹⁵ And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

TR1550 ¹⁵ καὶ λέγων ὅτι πεπλήρωται ὁ καιρὸς καὶ ἤγγικεν ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ μετανοεῖτε καὶ πιστεύετε ἐν τῷ εὐαγγελίῳ

DRB ¹⁶ Et comme il marchait le long de la mer de Galilée, il vit Simon et André le frère de Simon, qui jetaient un filet dans la mer ; car ils étaient pêcheurs.

KJV ¹⁶ Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

DRB ¹⁷ Et Jésus leur dit : Venez après moi, et je vous ferai devenir pêcheurs d'hommes.

KJV ¹⁷ And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.

KJV ¹⁸ And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.

KJV ¹⁹ And when he had gone a little farther thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.

TR1550 ¹⁹ καὶ προβὰς ἐκεῖθεν ὀλίγον εἶδεν ἰάκωβον τὸν τοῦ ξεβεδαίου καὶ ἰωάννην τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ αὐτοὺς ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ καταρτίζοντας τὰ δίκτυα

DRB ²⁰ Et aussitôt il les appela ; et laissant leur père Zébédée dans la nacelle avec les gens à gages, ils s'en allèrent après lui.

KJV ²⁰ And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.

TR1550 ²⁰ καὶ εὐθεὼς ἐκάλεσεν αὐτούς καὶ ἀφέντες τὸν πατέρα αὐτῶν ξεβεδαῖον ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ μετὰ τῶν μισθωτῶν ἀπῆλθον ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ

DRB ²¹ Et ils entrent dans Capernaüm ; et étant entré aussitôt le jour du sabbat dans la synagogue, il enseignait.

KJV ²¹ And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.

TR1550 ²¹ καὶ εἰσπορεύονται εἰς καπερναούμ καὶ εὐθεὼς τοῖς σάββασιν εἰσελθὼν εἰς τὴν συναγωγὴν ἐδίδασκεν

DRB ²² Et ils s'étonnaient de sa doctrine ; car il les enseignait comme ayant autorité, et non pas comme les scribes.

KJV ²² And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.

TR1550 ²² καὶ ἐξεπλήσσοντο ἐπὶ τῇ διδαχῇ αὐτοῦ ἦν γὰρ διδάσκων αὐτοὺς ὡς ἐξουσίαν ἔχων καὶ οὐχ ὡς οἱ γραμματεῖς

DRB ²³ Et il y avait dans leur synagogue un homme possédé d'un* esprit immonde ; et il s'écria,

KJV ²³ And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,

TR1550 ²³ καὶ ἦν ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ αὐτῶν ἄνθρωπος ἐν πνεύματι ἀκαθάρτῳ καὶ ἀνέκραξεν

DRB ²⁴ disant : Ha ! * qu'y a-t-il entre nous et toi, Jésus Nazarénien** ? Es-tu venu pour nous détruire ? Je te connais, qui tu es*** : le Saint de Dieu.

KJV ²⁴ Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

KJV ²⁵ And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.

DRB ²⁶ Et l'esprit immonde, l'ayant déchiré et ayant crié à haute voix, sortit de lui.

KJV ²⁶ And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.

TR1550 ²⁶ καὶ σπαράξαν αὐτὸν τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἀκάθαρτον καὶ κράξαν φωνῇ μεγάλῃ ἐξῆλθεν ἐξ αὐτοῦ

DRB ²⁷ Et ils furent tous saisis d'étonnement, de sorte qu'ils s'enquéraient entre eux, disant : Qu'est ceci ? Quelle doctrine nouvelle est celle-ci ? Car il commande avec autorité, même aux esprits immondes, et ils lui obéissent.

KJV ²⁷ And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.

TR1550 ²⁷ καὶ ἐθαμβήθησαν παντές, ὥστε συζητεῖν πρὸς αὐτοὺς, λέγοντας τί ἐστιν τοῦτο τις ἡ διδαχὴ ἡ καινὴ αὑτη, ὅτι κατ᾽ ἐξουσίαν καὶ τοῖς πνεύμασιν τοῖς ἀκαθάρτοις ἐπιτάσσει καὶ ὑπακούουσιν αὐτῷ

DRB ²⁸ Et sa renommée se répandit aussitôt tout à l'entour dans la Galilée.

KJV ²⁸ And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.

TR1550 ²⁸ ἐξῆλθεν δὲ ἡ ἀκοὴ αὐτοῦ εὐθὺς εἰς ὅλην τὴν περίχωρον τῆς γαλιλαίας
