BAN ¹ Alors les pharisiens et les sadducéens s'approchant de lui, lui demandèrent, pour le tenter, de leur montrer un signe venant du ciel.

BAN ² Mais répondant il leur dit : Quand le soir est venu, vous dites : Il fera beau temps, car le ciel est rouge ;

KJV ² He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.

BAN ³ et le matin, vous dites : y aura aujourd'hui de l'orage, car le ciel est d'un rouge sombre. Hypocrites, vous savez bien discerner l'apparence du ciel, et vous ne pouvez discerner les signes des temps ?

KJV ³ And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

BAN ⁴ Une génération méchante et adultère demande un signe ; mais il ne lui sera donné aucun autre signe que le signe de Jonas. Et les laissant, il s'en alla.

KJV ⁴ A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

BAN ⁵ Et les disciples, en passant à l'autre bord, avaient oublié de prendre des pains.

KJV ⁵ And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

BAN ⁶ Or Jésus leur dit : Gardez-vous avec soin du levain des pharisiens et des sadducéens.

KJV ⁶ Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

BAN ⁷ Mais ils raisonnaient en eux-mêmes, disant : C'est parce que nous n'avons point pris de pains.

KJV ⁷ And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

BAN ⁸ Et Jésus, connaissant cela, dit : Pourquoi raisonnez-vous en vous-mêmes, gens de peu de foi, sur ce que vous n'avez point pris de pains ?

KJV ⁸ Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?

BAN ⁹ Ne comprenez-vous pas encore ? et ne vous rappelez-vous pas les cinq pains des cinq mille, et combien vous en remportâtes de paniers ;

KJV ⁹ Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

BAN ¹⁰ ni les sept pains des quatre mille, et combien vous en remportâtes de corbeilles ?

KJV ¹⁰ Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

BAN ¹¹ Comment ne comprenez-vous pas que ce n'est pas de pains que je vous ai parlé ? Mais gardez-vous du levain des pharisiens et des sadducéens !

KJV ¹¹ How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

BAN ¹² Alors ils comprirent que ce n'était pas du levain du pain qu'il leur avait dit de se garder, mais de la doctrine des pharisiens et des sadducéens.

KJV ¹² Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

BAN ¹³ Et Jésus étant arrivé sur le territoire de Césarée de Philippe, interrogeait ses disciples, disant : Qui disent les hommes que je suis, moi le fils de l'homme ?

KJV ¹³ When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

BAN ¹⁴ Et ils dirent : Les uns, Jean-Baptiste ; d'autres, Elie ; d'autres, Jérémie, ou l'un des prophètes.

KJV ¹⁴ And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

BAN ¹⁵ Il leur dit : Mais vous, qui dites-vous que je suis ?

KJV ¹⁵ He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

BAN ¹⁶ Simon Pierre répondant dit : Tu es le Christ, le Fils du Dieu vivant.

KJV ¹⁶ And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

BAN ¹⁷ Et Jésus répondant lui dit : Heureux es-tu, Simon, fils de Jona ; parce que ce ne sont pas la chair et le sang qui t'ont révélé cela, mais c'est mon Père qui est dans les cieux.

KJV ¹⁷ And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

BAN ¹⁸ Et moi aussi je te dis que tu es Pierre et que sur ce roc-là je bâtirai mon Eglise, et les portes du séjour des morts ne prévaudront point contre elle.

KJV ¹⁸ And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

BAN ¹⁹ Et je te donnerai les clefs du royaume des cieux ; et ce que tu auras lié sur la terre sera lié dans les cieux ; et ce que tu auras délié sur la terre sera délié dans les cieux.

KJV ¹⁹ And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

BAN ²⁰ Alors il défendit à ses disciples de dire à personne qu'il était, lui, le Christ.

KJV ²⁰ Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

BAN ²¹ Dès lors Jésus commença à montrer à ses disciples qu'il lui fallait aller à Jérusalem, et souffrir beaucoup de la part des anciens et des principaux sacrificateurs et des scribes, et être mis à mort, et ressusciter le troisième jour.

KJV ²¹ From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

BAN ²² Et Pierre, l'ayant pris à part, se mit à le reprendre, disant : A Dieu ne plaise, Seigneur, cela ne t'arrivera certainement pas.

BAN ²³ Mais lui, s'étant tourné, dit à Pierre : Va arrière de moi, Satan, tu m'es en scandale, parce que tu ne penses pas les choses qui sont de Dieu, mais celles qui sont des hommes.

KJV ²³ But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

BAN ²⁴ Alors Jésus dit à ses disciples : Si quelqu'un veut venir après moi, qu'il renonce à lui-même, et qu'il se charge de sa croix, et qu'il me suive.

KJV ²⁴ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

BAN ²⁵ Car quiconque voudra sauver sa vie, la perdra ; et quiconque perdra sa vie à cause de moi, la trouvera.

KJV ²⁵ For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

BAN ²⁶ Car que servira-t-il à un homme de gagner le monde entier, s'il perd son âme ? ou que donnera l'homme en échange de son âme ?

KJV ²⁶ For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

BAN ²⁷ Car le fils de l'homme doit venir dans la gloire de son Père, avec ses anges ; et alors il rendra à chacun selon ses oeuvres.

KJV ²⁷ For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

BAN ²⁸ En vérité, je vous dis. qu'il y a quelques-uns de ceux qui sont ici présents, qui ne goûteront point la mort qu'ils n'aient vu le fils de l'homme venant en son règne.

KJV ²⁸ Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

BAN ¹ Et six jours après, Jésus prend avec lui Pierre et Jacques et Jean son frère, et les mène à l'écart sur une haute montagne.

KJV ¹ And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

BAN ² Et il fut transfiguré en leur présence, et son visage resplendit comme le soleil, tandis que ses vêtements devinrent blancs comme la lumière.

KJV ² And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

BAN ³ Et voici, Moïse et Elie leur apparurent, s'entretenant avec lui.

KJV ³ And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

BAN ⁴ Alors Pierre, prenant la parole, dit à Jésus : Seigneur, il est bon que nous soyons ici ; si tu le veux, faisons ici trois tentes, une pour toi, et une pour Moïse, et une pour Elie.

KJV ⁴ Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

BAN ⁵ Comme il parlait encore, voici, une nuée lumineuse les couvrit : et voici, une voix sortant de la nuée, dit : Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé, en qui je me complais ; écoutez-le.

KJV ⁵ While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

BAN ⁶ Ce que les disciples ayant entendu, ils tombèrent sur leur face et furent saisis d'une très grande crainte.

KJV ⁶ And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

BAN ⁷ Mais Jésus s'étant approché, les toucha et leur dit : Levez-vous et n'ayez point peur.

KJV ⁷ And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

BAN ⁸ Alors ayant levé les yeux, ils ne virent personne que Jésus seul.

KJV ⁸ And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

BAN ⁹ Et comme ils descendaient de la montagne, Jésus leur commanda, disant : Ne parlez à personne de cette vision, jusqu'à ce que le fils de l'homme soit ressuscité d'entre les morts.

KJV ⁹ And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

BAN ¹⁰ Et les disciples l'interrogèrent, disant : Pourquoi donc les scribes disent-ils qu'il faut qu'Elie vienne premièrement ?

KJV ¹⁰ And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?

BAN ¹¹ Et il répondit : Il est vrai qu'Elie doit venir et rétablir toutes choses.

KJV ¹¹ And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.

BAN ¹² Mais je vous dis qu'Elie est déjà venu, et ils ne l'ont point reconnu, mais ils lui ont fait tout ce qu'ils ont voulu. C'est de même aussi que le fils de l'homme doit souffrir de leur part.

KJV ¹² But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.

BAN ¹³ Les disciples comprirent alors que c'était de Jean-Baptiste qu'il leur parlait.

KJV ¹³ Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

BAN ¹⁴ Et lorsqu'ils furent arrivés près de la foule, un homme s'approcha de lui et se jeta à genoux devant lui,

KJV ¹⁴ And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,

BAN ¹⁵ disant : Seigneur, aie pitié de mon fils, parce qu'il est lunatique, et il est bien malade ; car il tombe souvent dans le feu et souvent dans l'eau.

KJV ¹⁵ Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.

BAN ¹⁶ Et je l'ai amené à tes disciples ; et ils n'ont pu le guérir.

KJV ¹⁶ And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.

BAN ¹⁷ Et Jésus répondant, dit : O génération incrédule et perverse ! jusques à quand serai-je avec vous ? jusques à quand vous supporterai-je ? Amenez-le-moi ici.

KJV ¹⁷ Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.

BAN ¹⁸ Et Jésus le réprimanda, et le démon sortit de lui ; et dès cette heure-là l'enfant fut guéri.

KJV ¹⁸ And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.

BAN ¹⁹ Alors les disciples s'approchèrent de Jésus en particulier, et lui dirent : Pourquoi n'avons-nous pas pu le chasser ?

KJV ¹⁹ Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?

BAN ²⁰ Et il leur dit : A cause de votre peu de foi. Car, en vérité, je vous dis que si vous avez de la foi comme un grain de sénevé, vous direz à cette montagne : Transporte-toi d'ici là, et elle se transportera, et rien ne vous sera impossible.

KJV ²⁰ And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

BAN ²¹ Mais cette sorte de démons ne sort que par la prière et par le jeûne.

KJV ²¹ Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

BAN ²² Or, comme ils se trouvaient ensemble dans la Galilée, Jésus leur dit : Le fils de l'homme doit être livré entre les mains des hommes ;

KJV ²² And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:

BAN ²³ et ils le feront mourir ; et le troisième jour il ressuscitera. Et ils furent fort attristés.

KJV ²³ And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.

BAN ²⁴ Or, comme ils arrivaient à Capernaüm, ceux qui percevaient les deux drachmes s'approchèrent de Pierre, et lui dirent : Votre Maître ne paie-t-il pas les deux drachmes ?

KJV ²⁴ And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?

BAN ²⁵ Il dit : Oui. Et quand il fut entré dans la maison, Jésus le prévint, disant : Que t'en semble, Simon ? les rois de la terre, de qui prennent-ils des tributs ou des impôts ? de leurs fils, ou des étrangers ?

KJV ²⁵ He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?

BAN ²⁶ Pierre lui dit : Des étrangers. Jésus lui répondit : Les fils en sont donc exempts.

KJV ²⁶ Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.

BAN ²⁷ Mais afin que nous ne les scandalisions point, va à la mer, jette un hameçon, et prends le premier poisson qui montera ; et quand tu lui auras ouvert la bouche, tu trouveras un statère ; prends-le, et le leur donne pour moi et pour toi.

KJV ²⁷ Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

BAN ¹ En cette heure-là, les disciples s'approchèrent de Jésus et dirent : Qui donc est le plus grand dans le royaume des cieux ?

KJV ¹ At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

BAN ² Et ayant appelé un petit enfant, il le plaça au milieu d'eux,

KJV ² And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,

BAN ³ et dit : En vérité, je vous dis que si vous ne vous convertissez et ne devenez comme les petits enfants, vous n'entrerez point dans le royaume des cieux.

KJV ³ And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

BAN ⁴ Quiconque donc se rendra humble comme ce petit enfant, celui-là est le plus grand dans le royaume des cieux.

KJV ⁴ Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

BAN ⁵ Et qui recevra un seul petit enfant comme celui-ci en mon nom, me reçoit.

KJV ⁵ And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.

BAN ⁶ Mais celui qui scandalisera un seul de ces petits qui croient en moi, il vaudrait mieux pour lui qu'on lui pendît au cou une meule de moulin et qu'on le jetât au fond de la mer.

KJV ⁶ But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

BAN ⁷ Malheur au monde à cause des scandales ! Car il est nécessaire qu'il arrive des scandales ; mais malheur à l'homme par qui le scandale arrive.

KJV ⁷ Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!

BAN ⁸ Que si ta main ou ton pied est pour toi une occasion de chute, coupe-les et jette-les loin de toi ; mieux vaut pour toi entrer dans la vie manchot ou boiteux, que d'avoir deux mains ou deux pieds, et d'être jeté dans le feu éternel.

KJV ⁸ Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.

BAN ⁹ Et si ton oeil est pour toi une occasion de chute, arrache-le et jette-le loin de toi ; mieux vaut pour toi entrer dans la vie n'ayant qu'un oeil, que d'avoir deux yeux et d'être jeté dans la géhenne du feu.

KJV ⁹ And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.

BAN ¹⁰ Gardez-vous de mépriser un seul de ces petits ; car je vous dis que leurs anges dans les cieux regardent sans cesse la face de mon Père qui est dans les cieux.

KJV ¹⁰ Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.

BAN ¹¹ Car le Fils de l'homme est venu sauver ce qui est perdu.

KJV ¹¹ For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

BAN ¹² Que vous en semble ? Si un homme a cent brebis, et qu'une seule d'entre elles s'égare, ne laisse-t-il pas les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf sur les montagnes pour aller chercher celle qui est égarée ?

KJV ¹² How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?

BAN ¹³ Et s'il arrive qu'il la trouve, en vérité, je vous dis qu'il en a plus de joie que des quatre-vingt-dix-neuf qui ne se sont point égarées.

KJV ¹³ And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.

BAN ¹⁴ Ainsi, ce n'est pas la volonté de votre Père qui est aux cieux, qu'un seul de ces petits soit perdu.

KJV ¹⁴ Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

BAN ¹⁵ Et si ton frère pèche contre toi, va, reprends-le entre toi et lui seul ; s'il t'écoute, tu as gagné ton frère.

KJV ¹⁵ Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

BAN ¹⁶ Mais s'il ne t'écoute pas, prends avec toi encore une ou deux personnes, afin que toute affaire soit établie sur la parole de deux ou trois témoins.

KJV ¹⁶ But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

BAN ¹⁷ Que s'il ne les écoute pas, dis-le à l'Eglise ; et s'il n'écoute pas l'Eglise, qu'il te soit comme le païen et le péager.

KJV ¹⁷ And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

BAN ¹⁸ En vérité, je vous dis que tout ce que vous lierez sur la terre sera lié dans le ciel ; et tout ce que vous délierez sur la terre sera délié dans le ciel.

KJV ¹⁸ Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

BAN ¹⁹ Je vous dis encore que si deux d'entre vous s'accordent sur la terre pour demander une chose quelconque, elle leur sera accordée par mon Père qui est aux cieux.

KJV ¹⁹ Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

BAN ²⁰ Car où deux ou trois sont assemblés en mon nom, je suis là au milieu d'eux !

KJV ²⁰ For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

BAN ²¹ Alors Pierre s'étant approché, lui dit : Seigneur, combien de fois-mon frère péchera-t-il contre moi et lui pardonnerai-je ? jusqu'à sept fois ?

KJV ²¹ Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

BAN ²² Jésus lui dit : Je ne te dis pas jusqu'à sept fois, mais jusqu'à septante fois sept fois.

KJV ²² Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

BAN ²³ C'est pourquoi le royaume des cieux est semblable à un roi qui voulut faire rendre compte à ses serviteurs.

KJV ²³ Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.

BAN ²⁴ Quand il eut commencé à compter, on lui en amena un qui devait dix mille talents ;

KJV ²⁴ And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.

BAN ²⁵ et comme il n'avait pas de quoi payer, son seigneur commanda qu'il fût vendu, lui et sa femme et ses enfants et tout ce qu'il avait, et que la dette fût payée.

KJV ²⁵ But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.

BAN ²⁶ Et ce serviteur tombant à terre, se prosternait devant lui, disant : Aie patience envers moi, et je te paierai tout.

KJV ²⁶ The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.

BAN ²⁷ Et le seigneur de ce serviteur, ému de compassion, le relâcha, et lui quitta la dette.

KJV ²⁷ Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.

BAN ²⁸ Mais ce serviteur étant sorti, rencontra un de ses compagnons de service qui lui devait cent deniers ; et l'ayant saisi, il l'étranglait, en disant : Paie ce que tu dois !

KJV ²⁸ But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.

BAN ²⁹ Et son compagnon de service, tombant à terre, le suppliait en disant : Aie patience envers moi, et je te paierai.

KJV ²⁹ And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.

BAN ³⁰ Mais lui ne voulut point ; et s'en étant allé, il le jeta en prison, jusqu'à ce qu'il eût payé ce qu'il devait.

KJV ³⁰ And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.

BAN ³¹ Ses compagnons de service, voyant ce qui s'était passé, en furent fort attristés, et ils vinrent instruire leur seigneur de tout ce qui était arrivé.

KJV ³¹ So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.

BAN ³² Alors son seigneur l'ayant appelé, lui dit : Méchant serviteur, je t'ai quitté toute cette dette, parce que tu m'as supplié,

KJV ³² Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:

BAN ³³ ne te fallait-il pas aussi avoir pitié de ton compagnon de service, comme moi aussi j'ai eu pitié de toi ?

KJV ³³ Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?

BAN ³⁴ Et son seigneur en colère le livra aux bourreaux jusqu'à ce qu'il eût payé tout ce qu'il lui devait.

KJV ³⁴ And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.

BAN ³⁵ C'est ainsi que vous fera mon Père céleste, si vous ne pardonnez pas, chacun à son frère, de tout votre coeur.

KJV ³⁵ So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

BAN ¹ Et il arriva, quand Jésus eut achevé ces discours, qu'il partit de Galilée, et s'en alla dans le territoire de la Judée, par l'autre côté du Jourdain.

KJV ¹ And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan;

BAN ² Et de grandes foules le suivirent, et il les guérit là.

KJV ² And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.

BAN ³ Alors des pharisiens s'approchèrent de lui pour le tenter et dirent : Est-il permis de répudier sa femme pour quelque sujet que ce soit ?

KJV ³ The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?

BAN ⁴ Mais lui, répondant, leur dit : N'avez-vous pas lu que Celui qui les créa les fit dès le commencement homme et femme,

KJV ⁴ And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,

BAN ⁵ et qu'il dit : A cause de cela, l'homme quittera son père et sa mère, et s'attachera à sa femme, et les deux deviendront une seule chair ?

KJV ⁵ And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

BAN ⁶ Ainsi ils ne sont plus deux, mais une seule chair. Ce donc que Dieu a uni, que l'homme ne le sépare point.

KJV ⁶ Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

BAN ⁷ Ils lui disent : Pourquoi donc Moïse a-t-il commandé de donner à la femme une lettre de divorce, et de la répudier ?

KJV ⁷ They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?

BAN ⁸ Il leur dit : C'est à cause de la dureté de votre coeur que Moïse vous a permis de répudier vos femmes ; mais il n'en était pas ainsi dès le commencement.

KJV ⁸ He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.

BAN ⁹ Mais je vous dis que quiconque répudie sa femme, si ce n'est pour cause de fornication, et en épouse une autre, commet adultère ; et que celui qui épouse une femme répudiée, commet adultère.

KJV ⁹ And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

BAN ¹⁰ Ses disciples lui dirent : Si telle est la condition de l'homme à l'égard de la femme, il n'est pas avantageux de se marier.

KJV ¹⁰ His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.

BAN ¹¹ Mais il leur dit : Tous ne comprennent pas cette parole, mais ceux-là seulement à qui cela est donné.

KJV ¹¹ But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.

BAN ¹² Car il y a des eunuques qui sont nés tels dès le sein de leur mère ; il y en a qui ont été faits eunuques par les hommes ; et il y en a qui se sont faits eunuques eux-mêmes pour le royaume des cieux. Que celui qui est capable de comprendre, comprenne.

KJV ¹² For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

BAN ¹³ Alors on lui amena de petits enfants, afin qu'il leur imposât les mains, et qu'il priât ; mais les disciples les reprirent.

KJV ¹³ Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.

BAN ¹⁴ Mais Jésus leur dit : Laissez les petits enfants, et ne les empêchez point de venir à moi ; car le royaume des cieux est à ceux qui leur ressemblent.

KJV ¹⁴ But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

KJV ¹⁵ And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.

BAN ¹⁶ Et voici, quelqu'un s'étant approché, lui dit : Maître, que dois-je faire de bon pour avoir la vie éternelle ?

KJV ¹⁶ And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

BAN ¹⁷ Mais il lui dit : Pourquoi m'interroges-tu sur ce qui est bon ? Un seul est le bon. Mais si tu veux entrer dans la vie, garde les commandements.

KJV ¹⁷ And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

BAN ¹⁸ Il lui dit : Lesquels ? Et Jésus lui répondit : Tu ne tueras point ; tu ne commettras point adultère ; tu ne déroberas point ; tu ne diras point de faux témoignage ;

KJV ¹⁸ He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

BAN ¹⁹ honore père et mère ; et tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même.

KJV ¹⁹ Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

BAN ²⁰ Le jeune homme lui dit : J'ai observé toutes ces choses ; que me manque-t-il encore ?

KJV ²⁰ The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?

BAN ²¹ Jésus lui dit : Si tu veux être parfait, va, vends ce que tu as, et le donne aux pauvres, et tu auras un trésor dans le ciel ; puis viens et suis-moi.

KJV ²¹ Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

BAN ²² Mais quand le jeune homme eut entendu cette parole, il s'en alla tout triste ; car il avait de grands biens.

KJV ²² But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

BAN ²³ Mais Jésus dit à ses disciples : En vérité, je vous le dis : Un riche entrera difficilement dans le royaume des cieux.

KJV ²³ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

BAN ²⁴ Et je vous le dis encore : Il est plus facile qu'un chameau passe par le trou d'une aiguille, qu'il ne l'est qu'un riche entre dans le royaume de Dieu.

KJV ²⁴ And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

BAN ²⁵ Les disciples ayant entendu cela, étaient fort étonnés, et ils disaient : Qui donc peut être sauvé ?

KJV ²⁵ When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?

BAN ²⁶ Mais Jésus les regardant, leur dit : Quant aux hommes, cela est impossible ; mais quant à Dieu, toutes choses sont possibles.

KJV ²⁶ But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

BAN ²⁷ Alors Pierre répondant, lui dit : Voici, nous, nous avons tout quitté, et nous t'avons suivi ; que nous en arrivera-t-il donc ?

KJV ²⁷ Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?

BAN ²⁸ Et Jésus leur dit : En vérité je vous dis, que lors du renouvellement, lorsque le Fils de l'homme sera assis sur le trône de sa gloire, vous qui m'avez suivi, vous serez assis vous aussi sur douze trônes, jugeant les douze tribus d'Israël.

KJV ²⁸ And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

BAN ²⁹ Et quiconque aura quitté frères ou soeurs, ou père, ou mère, ou enfants, ou champs, ou maisons, à cause de mon nom, recevra beaucoup plus, et héritera la vie éternelle.

KJV ²⁹ And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

KJV ³⁰ But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.

BAN ¹ Car le royaume des cieux est semblable à un maître de maison qui sortit dès le point du jour afin de louer des ouvriers pour sa vigne.

KJV ¹ For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.

BAN ² Et étant convenu avec les ouvriers d'un denier pour la journée, il les envoya à sa vigne.

KJV ² And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

BAN ³ Puis étant sorti vers la troisième heure du jour, il en vit d'autres qui étaient sur la place sans rien faire ;

KJV ³ And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,

BAN ⁴ il leur dit de même : Allez, vous aussi, à la vigne, et ce qui sera juste je vous le donnerai ;

KJV ⁴ And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.

BAN ⁵ et ils allèrent. Etant sorti de nouveau vers la sixième et la neuvième heure, il fit encore de même.

KJV ⁵ Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.

BAN ⁶ Or, vers la onzième heure, étant sorti, il en trouva d'autres qui se tenaient là ; et il leur dit : Pourquoi vous tenez-vous ici tout le jour sans rien faire ?

KJV ⁶ And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?

BAN ⁷ Ils lui disent : Parce que personne ne nous a loués. Il leur dit : Allez, vous aussi, à la vigne.

KJV ⁷ They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.

BAN ⁸ Quand le soir fut venu, le maître de la vigne dit à son intendant : Appelle les ouvriers, et paie-leur le salaire, en commençant depuis les derniers jusqu'aux premiers.

KJV ⁸ So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.

BAN ⁹ Et ceux de la onzième heure étant venus, ils reçurent chacun un denier.

KJV ⁹ And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.

BAN ¹⁰ Or les premiers étant venus, ils s'attendaient à recevoir davantage ; mais ils reçurent, eux aussi, chacun un denier ;

KJV ¹⁰ But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.

BAN ¹¹ et l'ayant reçu, ils murmuraient contre le maître de la maison,

KJV ¹¹ And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house,

BAN ¹² disant : Ceux-là, les derniers, n'ont travaillé qu'une heure, et tu les as traités à l'égal de nous qui avons supporté le poids du jour et la chaleur.

KJV ¹² Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.

BAN ¹³ Mais il répondit et dit à l'un d'eux : Ami, je ne te fais pas tort ; n'es-tu pas convenu avec moi d'un denier ?

KJV ¹³ But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?

BAN ¹⁴ Prends ce qui est à toi et va-t'en. Mais je veux donner à ce dernier autant qu'à toi.

KJV ¹⁴ Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.

BAN ¹⁵ Ne m'est-il donc pas permis de faire ce que je veux de ce qui est à moi ? Ou ton œil est-il mauvais parce que je suis bon ?

KJV ¹⁵ Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?

BAN ¹⁶ Ainsi les derniers seront les premiers, et les premiers seront les derniers.

KJV ¹⁶ So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.

BAN ¹⁷ Et Jésus montant à Jérusalem, prit à part les douze, et leur dit en chemin :

KJV ¹⁷ And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them,

BAN ¹⁸ Voici, nous montons à Jérusalem, et le fils de l'homme sera livré aux principaux sacrificateurs et aux scribes, et ils le condamneront à mort ;

KJV ¹⁸ Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,

BAN ¹⁹ et ils le livreront aux païens, pour qu'ils s'en moquent et le battent de verges et le crucifient ; et le troisième jour il ressuscitera.

KJV ¹⁹ And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

BAN ²⁰ Alors la mère des fils de Zébédée s'approcha de lui avec ses fils, se prosternant et lui demandant quelque chose.

KJV ²⁰ Then came to him the mother of Zebedees children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.

KJV ²¹ And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.

BAN ²² Mais Jésus répondant dit : Vous ne savez ce que vous demandez. Pouvez-vous boire la coupe que je vais boire ? Ils lui disent : Nous le pouvons.

KJV ²² But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.

BAN ²³ Il leur dit : Il est vrai que vous boirez ma coupe ; mais d'être assis à ma droite ou à ma gauche, il ne m'appartient pas de le donner, mais cela est donné à ceux à qui cela a été préparé par mon Père.

KJV ²³ And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.

BAN ²⁴ Les dix ayant entendu cela, s'indignèrent contre les deux frères.

KJV ²⁴ And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren.

BAN ²⁵ Mais Jésus les ayant appelés, dit : Vous savez que les princes des nations les asservissent et que les grands exercent sur elles leur puissance.

KJV ²⁵ But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.

BAN ²⁶ Il n'en sera pas ainsi parmi vous ; au contraire, quiconque voudra être grand parmi vous, sera votre serviteur ;

KJV ²⁶ But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;

BAN ²⁷ et quiconque voudra être le premier parmi vous, sera votre esclave ;

KJV ²⁷ And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:

BAN ²⁸ de même que le fils de l'homme n'est pas venu pour être servi, mais pour servir et donner sa vie en rançon pour plusieurs.

KJV ²⁸ Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

BAN ²⁹ Et comme ils sortaient de Jéricho, une grande foule le suivit.

KJV ²⁹ And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.

BAN ³⁰ Et voici, deux aveugles assis au bord du chemin, ayant entendu que Jésus passait, crièrent, disant : Aie pitié de nous, Seigneur, fils de David !

KJV ³⁰ And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David.

BAN ³¹ Et la foule les reprit pour les faire taire, mais ils crièrent plus fort, disant : Aie pitié de nous, Seigneur, fils de David !

KJV ³¹ And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David.

BAN ³² Et Jésus s'étant arrêté, les appela et dit : Que voulez-vous que je vous fasse ?

KJV ³² And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you?

BAN ³³ Ils lui disent : Seigneur, que nos yeux s'ouvrent.

KJV ³³ They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.

BAN ³⁴ Et Jésus, ému de compassion, toucha leurs yeux, et aussitôt ils virent de nouveau, et ils le suivirent.

KJV ³⁴ So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.

BAN ¹ Et lorsqu'ils approchèrent de Jérusalem, et qu'ils furent arrivés à Bethphagé, vers le mont des Oliviers, alors Jésus envoya deux disciples,

KJV ¹ And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,

BAN ² en leur disant : Allez à la bourgade qui est devant vous, et vous trouverez aussitôt une ânesse attachée, et un ânon avec elle ; détachez-les et amenez-les moi.

KJV ² Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.

BAN ³ Et si quelqu'un vous dit quelque chose, vous direz : Le Seigneur en a besoin, et aussitôt il les enverra.

KJV ³ And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.

BAN ⁴ Or ceci arriva, afin que fût accompli ce qui a été déclaré par le moyen du prophète, disant :

KJV ⁴ All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,

BAN ⁵ Dites à la fille de Sion : Voici, ton Roi vient à toi, doux et monté sur un âne, sur le poulain de celle qui porte le joug.

KJV ⁵ Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.

BAN ⁶ Les disciples s'en étant donc allés et ayant fait comme Jésus leur avait ordonné,

KJV ⁶ And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,

BAN ⁷ amenèrent l'ânesse et l'ânon et placèrent sur eux leurs vêtements, et il s'assit dessus.

KJV ⁷ And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.

BAN ⁸ Et la plupart des gens de la foule étendirent leurs propres vêtements sur le chemin, et d'autres coupaient des branches d'arbres et les étendaient sur le chemin.

KJV ⁸ And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.

BAN ⁹ Mais les foules qui précédaient et celles qui suivaient criaient, disant : Hosanna au fils de David ! Béni soit celui qui vient au nom du Seigneur ! Hosanna dans les lieux très hauts !

KJV ⁹ And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

BAN ¹⁰ Et quand il fut entré dans Jérusalem toute la ville fut en émoi, disant : Qui est celui-ci ?

KJV ¹⁰ And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?

BAN ¹¹ Mais les foules disaient : Celui-ci il est le prophète, Jésus, de Nazareth en Galilée.

KJV ¹¹ And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.

BAN ¹² Et Jésus entra dans le temple de Dieu, et il chassa tous ceux qui vendaient et qui achetaient dans le temple, et il renversa les tables des changeurs et les sièges de ceux qui vendaient des pigeons.

KJV ¹² And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,

BAN ¹³ Et il leur dit : Il est écrit : Ma maison sera appelée une maison de prière ; mais vous en faites une caverne de voleurs.

KJV ¹³ And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

KJV ¹⁴ And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.

BAN ¹⁵ Mais les principaux sacrificateurs et les scribes voyant les merveilles qu'il avait faites et les enfants qui criaient dans le temple et disaient : Hosanna au fils de David ! en furent indignés,

KJV ¹⁵ And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were sore displeased,

BAN ¹⁶ et ils lui dirent : Entends-tu ce que ceux-ci disent ? Et Jésus leur dit : Oui. N'avez-vous jamais lu : De la bouche des petits enfants et des nourrissons tu t'es préparé une louange ?

KJV ¹⁶ And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?

BAN ¹⁷ Et les laissant, il sortit de la ville pour aller à Béthanie, où il passa la nuit.

KJV ¹⁷ And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there.

BAN ¹⁸ Or le matin, comme il retournait à la ville, il eut faim.

KJV ¹⁸ Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.

BAN ¹⁹ Et voyant un figuier sur le chemin, il s'en approcha, mais il n'y trouva rien que des feuilles, et il lui dit : Que jamais aucun fruit ne provienne plus de toi ! et à l'instant le figuier sécha.

KJV ¹⁹ And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.

BAN ²⁰ Et voyant cela les disciples s'étonnèrent et dirent : Comment ce figuier a-t-il séché à l'instant ?

KJV ²⁰ And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!

BAN ²¹ Et Jésus répondant leur dit : En vérité, je vous le dis, si vous aviez de la foi et que vous ne doutiez point, non seulement vous feriez ce qui a été fait au figuier, mais si même vous disiez à cette montagne : Ote-toi de là et te jette dans la mer, cela se ferait.

KJV ²¹ Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

BAN ²² Et tout ce que vous demanderez dans la prière avec foi vous le recevrez.

KJV ²² And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

BAN ²³ Et quand il fut venu dans le temple, les principaux sacrificateurs et les anciens du peuple vinrent à lui, comme il enseignait, et lui dirent : Par quelle autorité fais-tu ces choses, et qui t'a donné cette autorité ?

KJV ²³ And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?

BAN ²⁴ Jésus, répondant, leur dit : Je vous demanderai, moi aussi, une seule chose ; et si vous m'y répondez, je vous dirai, moi aussi, par quelle autorité je fais ces choses.

KJV ²⁴ And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.

BAN ²⁵ Le baptême de Jean, d'où venait-il ? du ciel ou des hommes ? Mais eux raisonnaient entre eux, disant : Si nous disons : Du ciel, il nous dira : Pourquoi donc n'avez-vous pas cru en lui ?

KJV ²⁵ The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?

BAN ²⁶ Et si nous disons : Des hommes, nous craignons la foule ; car tous tiennent Jean pour un prophète.

KJV ²⁶ But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.

BAN ²⁷ Et répondant ils dirent à Jésus : Nous ne savons. Et lui aussi leur dit : Moi non plus, je ne vous dis pas par quelle autorité je fais ces choses.

KJV ²⁷ And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

BAN ²⁸ Mais que vous en semble ? Un homme avait deux enfants ; et s'adressant au premier, il dit : Mon enfant, va travailler aujourd'hui dans ma vigne.

KJV ²⁸ But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.

BAN ²⁹ Il répondit : Je ne veux pas ; mais plus tard, s'étant repenti, il y alla.

KJV ²⁹ He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.

BAN ³⁰ Puis il vint à l'autre, et lui dit la même chose. Celui-ci répondit : Oui, seigneur ; et il n'y alla pas.

KJV ³⁰ And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.

BAN ³¹ Lequel des deux fit la volonté de son père ? Ils lui dirent : Le premier. Jésus leur dit : En vérité, je vous dis que les péagers et les femmes de mauvaise vie vous devancent dans le royaume de Dieu.

KJV ³¹ Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

BAN ³² Car Jean est venu à vous dans la voie de la justice, et vous ne l'avez point cru, tandis que les péagers et les femmes de mauvaise vie l'ont cru ; mais vous, ayant vu cela, vous ne vous êtes pas même repentis ensuite pour le croire.

KJV ³² For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.

BAN ³³ Ecoutez une autre parabole : Il y avait un homme, maître de maison, qui planta une vigne, et l'entoura d'une haie, et y creusa un pressoir, et bâtit une tour ; et il l'afferma à des vignerons, et s'absenta.

KJV ³³ Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:

BAN ³⁴ Or, lorsque la saison des fruits approcha, il envoya ses serviteurs vers les vignerons pour recevoir ses fruits.

KJV ³⁴ And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.

BAN ³⁵ Mais les vignerons s'étant saisis de ses serviteurs, battirent l'un, tuèrent l'autre, et en lapidèrent un autre.

KJV ³⁵ And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.

BAN ³⁶ Il envoya encore d'autres serviteurs, en plus grand nombre que les premiers, et ils les traitèrent de même.

KJV ³⁶ Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.

BAN ³⁷ Ensuite il envoya vers eux son fils, disant : Ils auront du respect pour mon fils.

KJV ³⁷ But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.

BAN ³⁸ Mais les vignerons, voyant le fils, dirent entre eux : Celui-ci est l'héritier ; venez, tuons-le et possédons son héritage.

KJV ³⁸ But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.

BAN ³⁹ Et s'étant saisis de lui, ils le jetèrent hors de la vigne et le tuèrent.

KJV ³⁹ And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.

BAN ⁴⁰ Quand donc le seigneur de la vigne sera venu, que fera-t-il à ces vignerons ?

KJV ⁴⁰ When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?

BAN ⁴¹ Ils lui disent : Il fera périr misérablement ces misérables, et il affermera la vigne à d'autres vignerons qui lui en rendront les fruits en leur saison.

KJV ⁴¹ They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.

BAN ⁴² Et Jésus leur dit : N'avez-vous jamais lu dans les Ecritures : La pierre qu'ont rejetée ceux qui bâtissaient, elle est devenue la principale pierre de l'angle ; c'est par le Seigneur qu'elle l'est devenue, et elle est merveilleuse à nos yeux ?

KJV ⁴² Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

BAN ⁴³ C'est pourquoi je vous dis que le royaume de Dieu vous sera ôté et sera donné à une nation qui en produit les fruits.

KJV ⁴³ Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

BAN ⁴⁴ Et celui qui tombera sur cette pierre sera brisé ; mais celui sur qui elle tombera, elle l'écrasera.

KJV ⁴⁴ And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

BAN ⁴⁵ Or après avoir entendu ses paraboles, les principaux sacrificateurs et les pharisiens comprirent que c'était d'eux qu'il parlait ;

KJV ⁴⁵ And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.

BAN ⁴⁶ et ils cherchaient à s'emparer de lui ; mais ils craignirent la foule, parce qu'elle le tenait pour un prophète.

KJV ⁴⁶ But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.
