Mt 17-19 (Annotée Neuchâtel)

   ¹ Et six jours après, Jésus prend avec lui Pierre et Jacques et Jean son frère, et les mène à l'écart sur une haute montagne. ² Et il fut transfiguré en leur présence, et son visage resplendit comme le soleil, tandis que ses vêtements devinrent blancs comme la lumière. ³ Et voici, Moïse et Elie leur apparurent, s'entretenant avec lui. ⁴ Alors Pierre, prenant la parole, dit à Jésus : Seigneur, il est bon que nous soyons ici ; si tu le veux, faisons ici trois tentes, une pour toi, et une pour Moïse, et une pour Elie. ⁵ Comme il parlait encore, voici, une nuée lumineuse les couvrit : et voici, une voix sortant de la nuée, dit : Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé, en qui je me complais ; écoutez-le. ⁶ Ce que les disciples ayant entendu, ils tombèrent sur leur face et furent saisis d'une très grande crainte. ⁷ Mais Jésus s'étant approché, les toucha et leur dit : Levez-vous et n'ayez point peur. ⁸ Alors ayant levé les yeux, ils ne virent personne que Jésus seul.
   ⁹ Et comme ils descendaient de la montagne, Jésus leur commanda, disant : Ne parlez à personne de cette vision, jusqu'à ce que le fils de l'homme soit ressuscité d'entre les morts. ¹⁰ Et les disciples l'interrogèrent, disant : Pourquoi donc les scribes disent-ils qu'il faut qu'Elie vienne premièrement ? ¹¹ Et il répondit : Il est vrai qu'Elie doit venir et rétablir toutes choses. ¹² Mais je vous dis qu'Elie est déjà venu, et ils ne l'ont point reconnu, mais ils lui ont fait tout ce qu'ils ont voulu. C'est de même aussi que le fils de l'homme doit souffrir de leur part. ¹³ Les disciples comprirent alors que c'était de Jean-Baptiste qu'il leur parlait.
   ¹⁴ Et lorsqu'ils furent arrivés près de la foule, un homme s'approcha de lui et se jeta à genoux devant lui, ¹⁵ disant : Seigneur, aie pitié de mon fils, parce qu'il est lunatique, et il est bien malade ; car il tombe souvent dans le feu et souvent dans l'eau. ¹⁶ Et je l'ai amené à tes disciples ; et ils n'ont pu le guérir. ¹⁷ Et Jésus répondant, dit : O génération incrédule et perverse ! jusques à quand serai-je avec vous ? jusques à quand vous supporterai-je ? Amenez-le-moi ici. ¹⁸ Et Jésus le réprimanda, et le démon sortit de lui ; et dès cette heure-là l'enfant fut guéri. ¹⁹ Alors les disciples s'approchèrent de Jésus en particulier, et lui dirent : Pourquoi n'avons-nous pas pu le chasser ? ²⁰ Et il leur dit : A cause de votre peu de foi. Car, en vérité, je vous dis que si vous avez de la foi comme un grain de sénevé, vous direz à cette montagne : Transporte-toi d'ici là, et elle se transportera, et rien ne vous sera impossible. ²¹ Mais cette sorte de démons ne sort que par la prière et par le jeûne.
   ²² Or, comme ils se trouvaient ensemble dans la Galilée, Jésus leur dit : Le fils de l'homme doit être livré entre les mains des hommes ; ²³ et ils le feront mourir ; et le troisième jour il ressuscitera. Et ils furent fort attristés.
   ²⁴ Or, comme ils arrivaient à Capernaüm, ceux qui percevaient les deux drachmes s'approchèrent de Pierre, et lui dirent : Votre Maître ne paie-t-il pas les deux drachmes ? ²⁵ Il dit : Oui. Et quand il fut entré dans la maison, Jésus le prévint, disant : Que t'en semble, Simon ? les rois de la terre, de qui prennent-ils des tributs ou des impôts ? de leurs fils, ou des étrangers ? ²⁶ Pierre lui dit : Des étrangers. Jésus lui répondit : Les fils en sont donc exempts. ²⁷ Mais afin que nous ne les scandalisions point, va à la mer, jette un hameçon, et prends le premier poisson qui montera ; et quand tu lui auras ouvert la bouche, tu trouveras un statère ; prends-le, et le leur donne pour moi et pour toi.

Matthieu 18

   ¹ En cette heure-là, les disciples s'approchèrent de Jésus et dirent : Qui donc est le plus grand dans le royaume des cieux ? ² Et ayant appelé un petit enfant, il le plaça au milieu d'eux, ³ et dit : En vérité, je vous dis que si vous ne vous convertissez et ne devenez comme les petits enfants, vous n'entrerez point dans le royaume des cieux. ⁴ Quiconque donc se rendra humble comme ce petit enfant, celui-là est le plus grand dans le royaume des cieux. ⁵ Et qui recevra un seul petit enfant comme celui-ci en mon nom, me reçoit. ⁶ Mais celui qui scandalisera un seul de ces petits qui croient en moi, il vaudrait mieux pour lui qu'on lui pendît au cou une meule de moulin et qu'on le jetât au fond de la mer. ⁷ Malheur au monde à cause des scandales ! Car il est nécessaire qu'il arrive des scandales ; mais malheur à l'homme par qui le scandale arrive. ⁸ Que si ta main ou ton pied est pour toi une occasion de chute, coupe-les et jette-les loin de toi ; mieux vaut pour toi entrer dans la vie manchot ou boiteux, que d'avoir deux mains ou deux pieds, et d'être jeté dans le feu éternel. ⁹ Et si ton oeil est pour toi une occasion de chute, arrache-le et jette-le loin de toi ; mieux vaut pour toi entrer dans la vie n'ayant qu'un oeil, que d'avoir deux yeux et d'être jeté dans la géhenne du feu. ¹⁰ Gardez-vous de mépriser un seul de ces petits ; car je vous dis que leurs anges dans les cieux regardent sans cesse la face de mon Père qui est dans les cieux. ¹¹ Car le Fils de l'homme est venu sauver ce qui est perdu. ¹² Que vous en semble ? Si un homme a cent brebis, et qu'une seule d'entre elles s'égare, ne laisse-t-il pas les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf sur les montagnes pour aller chercher celle qui est égarée ? ¹³ Et s'il arrive qu'il la trouve, en vérité, je vous dis qu'il en a plus de joie que des quatre-vingt-dix-neuf qui ne se sont point égarées. ¹⁴ Ainsi, ce n'est pas la volonté de votre Père qui est aux cieux, qu'un seul de ces petits soit perdu.
   ¹⁵ Et si ton frère pèche contre toi, va, reprends-le entre toi et lui seul ; s'il t'écoute, tu as gagné ton frère. ¹⁶ Mais s'il ne t'écoute pas, prends avec toi encore une ou deux personnes, afin que toute affaire soit établie sur la parole de deux ou trois témoins. ¹⁷ Que s'il ne les écoute pas, dis-le à l'Eglise ; et s'il n'écoute pas l'Eglise, qu'il te soit comme le païen et le péager. ¹⁸ En vérité, je vous dis que tout ce que vous lierez sur la terre sera lié dans le ciel ; et tout ce que vous délierez sur la terre sera délié dans le ciel. ¹⁹ Je vous dis encore que si deux d'entre vous s'accordent sur la terre pour demander une chose quelconque, elle leur sera accordée par mon Père qui est aux cieux. ²⁰ Car où deux ou trois sont assemblés en mon nom, je suis là au milieu d'eux !
   ²¹ Alors Pierre s'étant approché, lui dit : Seigneur, combien de fois-mon frère péchera-t-il contre moi et lui pardonnerai-je ? jusqu'à sept fois ? ²² Jésus lui dit : Je ne te dis pas jusqu'à sept fois, mais jusqu'à septante fois sept fois. ²³ C'est pourquoi le royaume des cieux est semblable à un roi qui voulut faire rendre compte à ses serviteurs. ²⁴ Quand il eut commencé à compter, on lui en amena un qui devait dix mille talents ; ²⁵ et comme il n'avait pas de quoi payer, son seigneur commanda qu'il fût vendu, lui et sa femme et ses enfants et tout ce qu'il avait, et que la dette fût payée. ²⁶ Et ce serviteur tombant à terre, se prosternait devant lui, disant : Aie patience envers moi, et je te paierai tout. ²⁷ Et le seigneur de ce serviteur, ému de compassion, le relâcha, et lui quitta la dette. ²⁸ Mais ce serviteur étant sorti, rencontra un de ses compagnons de service qui lui devait cent deniers ; et l'ayant saisi, il l'étranglait, en disant : Paie ce que tu dois ! ²⁹ Et son compagnon de service, tombant à terre, le suppliait en disant : Aie patience envers moi, et je te paierai. ³⁰ Mais lui ne voulut point ; et s'en étant allé, il le jeta en prison, jusqu'à ce qu'il eût payé ce qu'il devait. ³¹ Ses compagnons de service, voyant ce qui s'était passé, en furent fort attristés, et ils vinrent instruire leur seigneur de tout ce qui était arrivé. ³² Alors son seigneur l'ayant appelé, lui dit : Méchant serviteur, je t'ai quitté toute cette dette, parce que tu m'as supplié, ³³ ne te fallait-il pas aussi avoir pitié de ton compagnon de service, comme moi aussi j'ai eu pitié de toi ? ³⁴ Et son seigneur en colère le livra aux bourreaux jusqu'à ce qu'il eût payé tout ce qu'il lui devait. ³⁵ C'est ainsi que vous fera mon Père céleste, si vous ne pardonnez pas, chacun à son frère, de tout votre coeur.

Matthieu 19

   ¹ Et il arriva, quand Jésus eut achevé ces discours, qu'il partit de Galilée, et s'en alla dans le territoire de la Judée, par l'autre côté du Jourdain. ² Et de grandes foules le suivirent, et il les guérit là. ³ Alors des pharisiens s'approchèrent de lui pour le tenter et dirent : Est-il permis de répudier sa femme pour quelque sujet que ce soit ? ⁴ Mais lui, répondant, leur dit : N'avez-vous pas lu que Celui qui les créa les fit dès le commencement homme et femme, ⁵ et qu'il dit : A cause de cela, l'homme quittera son père et sa mère, et s'attachera à sa femme, et les deux deviendront une seule chair ? ⁶ Ainsi ils ne sont plus deux, mais une seule chair. Ce donc que Dieu a uni, que l'homme ne le sépare point. ⁷ Ils lui disent : Pourquoi donc Moïse a-t-il commandé de donner à la femme une lettre de divorce, et de la répudier ? ⁸ Il leur dit : C'est à cause de la dureté de votre coeur que Moïse vous a permis de répudier vos femmes ; mais il n'en était pas ainsi dès le commencement. ⁹ Mais je vous dis que quiconque répudie sa femme, si ce n'est pour cause de fornication, et en épouse une autre, commet adultère ; et que celui qui épouse une femme répudiée, commet adultère. ¹⁰ Ses disciples lui dirent : Si telle est la condition de l'homme à l'égard de la femme, il n'est pas avantageux de se marier. ¹¹ Mais il leur dit : Tous ne comprennent pas cette parole, mais ceux-là seulement à qui cela est donné. ¹² Car il y a des eunuques qui sont nés tels dès le sein de leur mère ; il y en a qui ont été faits eunuques par les hommes ; et il y en a qui se sont faits eunuques eux-mêmes pour le royaume des cieux. Que celui qui est capable de comprendre, comprenne.
   ¹³ Alors on lui amena de petits enfants, afin qu'il leur imposât les mains, et qu'il priât ; mais les disciples les reprirent. ¹⁴ Mais Jésus leur dit : Laissez les petits enfants, et ne les empêchez point de venir à moi ; car le royaume des cieux est à ceux qui leur ressemblent. ¹⁵ Et leur ayant imposé les mains, il partit de là.
   ¹⁶ Et voici, quelqu'un s'étant approché, lui dit : Maître, que dois-je faire de bon pour avoir la vie éternelle ? ¹⁷ Mais il lui dit : Pourquoi m'interroges-tu sur ce qui est bon ? Un seul est le bon. Mais si tu veux entrer dans la vie, garde les commandements. ¹⁸ Il lui dit : Lesquels ? Et Jésus lui répondit : Tu ne tueras point ; tu ne commettras point adultère ; tu ne déroberas point ; tu ne diras point de faux témoignage ; ¹⁹ honore père et mère ; et tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même. ²⁰ Le jeune homme lui dit : J'ai observé toutes ces choses ; que me manque-t-il encore ? ²¹ Jésus lui dit : Si tu veux être parfait, va, vends ce que tu as, et le donne aux pauvres, et tu auras un trésor dans le ciel ; puis viens et suis-moi. ²² Mais quand le jeune homme eut entendu cette parole, il s'en alla tout triste ; car il avait de grands biens.
   ²³ Mais Jésus dit à ses disciples : En vérité, je vous le dis : Un riche entrera difficilement dans le royaume des cieux. ²⁴ Et je vous le dis encore : Il est plus facile qu'un chameau passe par le trou d'une aiguille, qu'il ne l'est qu'un riche entre dans le royaume de Dieu. ²⁵ Les disciples ayant entendu cela, étaient fort étonnés, et ils disaient : Qui donc peut être sauvé ? ²⁶ Mais Jésus les regardant, leur dit : Quant aux hommes, cela est impossible ; mais quant à Dieu, toutes choses sont possibles.
   ²⁷ Alors Pierre répondant, lui dit : Voici, nous, nous avons tout quitté, et nous t'avons suivi ; que nous en arrivera-t-il donc ? ²⁸ Et Jésus leur dit : En vérité je vous dis, que lors du renouvellement, lorsque le Fils de l'homme sera assis sur le trône de sa gloire, vous qui m'avez suivi, vous serez assis vous aussi sur douze trônes, jugeant les douze tribus d'Israël. ²⁹ Et quiconque aura quitté frères ou soeurs, ou père, ou mère, ou enfants, ou champs, ou maisons, à cause de mon nom, recevra beaucoup plus, et héritera la vie éternelle. ³⁰ Mais plusieurs des premiers seront les derniers, et plusieurs des derniers seront les premiers.

   ¹ And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, ² And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. ³ And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. ⁴ Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. ⁵ While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. ⁶ And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. ⁷ And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. ⁸ And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. ⁹ And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead. ¹⁰ And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come? ¹¹ And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. ¹² But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. ¹³ Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
   ¹⁴ And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, ¹⁵ Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. ¹⁶ And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. ¹⁷ Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. ¹⁸ And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. ¹⁹ Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? ²⁰ And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. ²¹ Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
   ²² And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: ²³ And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.
   ²⁴ And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute? ²⁵ He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? ²⁶ Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free. ²⁷ Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

Matthieu 18

   ¹ At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? ² And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, ³ And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. ⁴ Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. ⁵ And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. ⁶ But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
   ⁷ Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh! ⁸ Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. ⁹ And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire. ¹⁰ Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. ¹¹ For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. ¹² How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? ¹³ And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray. ¹⁴ Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.
   ¹⁵ Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. ¹⁶ But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. ¹⁷ And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. ¹⁸ Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. ¹⁹ Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. ²⁰ For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
   ²¹ Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? ²² Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. ²³ Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. ²⁴ And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. ²⁵ But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. ²⁶ The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. ²⁷ Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. ²⁸ But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. ²⁹ And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. ³⁰ And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. ³¹ So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. ³² Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: ³³ Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? ³⁴ And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. ³⁵ So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

   ¹ And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan; ² And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.
   ³ The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? ⁴ And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, ⁵ And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? ⁶ Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. ⁷ They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? ⁸ He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. ⁹ And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery. ¹⁰ His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry. ¹¹ But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. ¹² For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
   ¹³ Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. ¹⁴ But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. ¹⁵ And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.
   ¹⁶ And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? ¹⁷ And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. ¹⁸ He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, ¹⁹ Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. ²⁰ The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? ²¹ Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. ²² But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
   ²³ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. ²⁴ And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. ²⁵ When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? ²⁶ But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. ²⁷ Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? ²⁸ And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. ²⁹ And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. ³⁰ But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.
