BCC ²³ Ce jour-là, des Sadducéens, qui nient la résurrection, vinrent à lui et lui posèrent cette question :

KJV ²³ The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,

BCC ²⁴ "Maître, Moïse a dit : Si quelqu'un meurt sans avoir d'enfants, son frère épousera sa femme et suscitera une postérité à son frère.

KJV ²⁴ Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

BCC ²⁵ Or, il y avait parmi nous sept frères. Le premier se maria et mourut, et comme il n'avait pas de postérité, il laissa sa femme à son frère.

KJV ²⁵ Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:

BCC ²⁶ Pareillement, le second, puis le troisième, jusqu'au septième.

KJV ²⁶ Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.

BCC ²⁷ Après eux tous, la femme mourut.

KJV ²⁷ And last of all the woman died also.

BCC ²⁸ A la résurrection donc, duquel des sept sera-t-elle femme ? Car tous l'on eue."

KJV ²⁸ Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.

BCC ²⁹ Jésus leur répondit : "vous êtes dans l'erreur, ne comprenant ni les Écritures, ni la puissance de Dieu.

KJV ²⁹ Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

BCC ³⁰ Car, à la résurrection, on n'épouse pas et on n'est pas épousé ; mais on est comme des anges de Dieu dans le ciel.

KJV ³⁰ For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

BCC ³¹ Quant à la résurrection des morts, n'avez-vous pas lu ce que Dieu vous a dit, en ces termes :

KJV ³¹ But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,

BCC ³² Je suis le Dieu d'Abraham, le Dieu d'Isaac et le Dieu de Jacob ? Dieu n'est pas Dieu des morts, mais des vivants."

KJV ³² I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

BCC ³³ Et les foules, en entendant cela, étaient remplies d'admiration pour son enseignement.

KJV ³³ And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.

BCC ³⁴ Les Pharisiens, ayant appris que Jésus avait réduit au silence les Sadducéens, se rassemblèrent.

KJV ³⁴ But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.

BCC ³⁵ Et l'un d'eux, docteur de la loi, lui demanda pour l'embarrasser :

KJV ³⁵ Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,

BCC ³⁶ "Maître, quel est le plus grand commandement de la Loi ?"

KJV ³⁶ Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

BCC ³⁷ Il lui dit : "tu aimeras le Seigneur ton Dieu de tout ton coeur, de toute ton âme et de tout ton esprit.

KJV ³⁷ Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

BCC ³⁸ C'est là le plus grand et le premier commandement.

KJV ³⁸ This is the first and great commandment.

BCC ³⁹ Un second lui est égal : tu aimeras ton proche comme toi-même.

KJV ³⁹ And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

BCC ⁴⁰ En ces deux commandements tient toute la Loi, et les Prophètes."

KJV ⁴⁰ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

BCC ⁴¹ Les Pharisiens étant rassemblés, Jésus leur fit cette question :

KJV ⁴¹ While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

BCC ⁴² "Que pensez-vous du Christ ? De qui est-il fils ?" Ils lui disent : "de David. ‒

KJV ⁴² Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David.

BCC ⁴³ Comment donc, leur dit-il, David (inspiré) par l'Esprit l'appelle-t-il Seigneur, quand il dit :

KJV ⁴³ He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,

BCC ⁴⁴ Le Seigneur a dit à mon Seigneur : Assieds-toi à ma droite, jusqu'à ce que j'aie mis tes ennemis sous tes pieds ?

KJV ⁴⁴ The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?

BCC ⁴⁵ Si donc David l'appelle Seigneur, comment est-il son fils ?"

KJV ⁴⁵ If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

BCC ⁴⁶ Et nul ne pouvait lui répondre mot, et, depuis ce jour, personne n'osa plus l'interroger.

KJV ⁴⁶ And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.
