DRB ¹ Alors le royaume des cieux sera fait semblable à dix vierges qui, ayant pris leurs lampes*, sortirent à la rencontre de l'époux.

KJV ¹ Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

DRB ² Et cinq d'entre elles étaient prudentes, et cinq folles.

KJV ² And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

DRB ³ Celles qui étaient folles, en prenant leurs lampes, ne prirent pas d'huile avec elles ;

KJV ³ They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

DRB ⁴ mais les prudentes prirent de l'huile dans leurs vaisseaux avec leurs lampes.

KJV ⁴ But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

DRB ⁵ Or, comme l'époux tardait, elles s'assoupirent toutes et s'endormirent.

KJV ⁵ While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

DRB ⁶ Mais au milieu de la nuit il se fit un cri : Voici l'époux ; sortez à sa rencontre.

KJV ⁶ And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

DRB ⁷ Alors toutes ces vierges se levèrent et apprêtèrent leurs lampes.

KJV ⁷ Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

DRB ⁸ Et les folles dirent aux prudentes : Donnez-nous de votre huile, car nos lampes s'éteignent.

KJV ⁸ And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

DRB ⁹ Mais les prudentes répondirent, disant : [Non], de peur qu'il n'y en ait pas assez pour nous et pour vous ; allez plutôt vers ceux qui en vendent, et achetez-en pour vous mêmes.

KJV ⁹ But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

DRB ¹⁰ Or, comme elles s'en allaient pour en acheter, l'époux vint ; et celles qui étaient prêtes entrèrent avec lui aux noces ; et la porte fut fermée.

KJV ¹⁰ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

DRB ¹¹ Ensuite viennent aussi les autres vierges, disant : Seigneur, Seigneur, ouvre-nous !

KJV ¹¹ Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

DRB ¹² Mais lui, répondant, dit : En vérité, je vous dis : je ne vous connais pas.

KJV ¹² But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

DRB ¹³ Veillez donc ; car vous ne savez ni le jour ni l'heure.

KJV ¹³ Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
