BAN ¹ Or en ces jours-là, paraît Jean-Baptiste, prêchant dans le désert de Judée,

KJV ¹ In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,

BAN ² et disant : Repentez-vous, car le royaume des cieux s'est approché.

KJV ² And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

BAN ³ Car c'est ici celui dont a parlé Esaïe le prophète, en disant : Voix de celui qui crie dans le désert : Préparez le chemin du Seigneur, aplanissez ses sentiers.

KJV ³ For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

BAN ⁴ Or Jean lui-même avait son vêtement fait de poil de chameau, et une ceinture de cuir autour de ses reins, et sa nourriture était des sauterelles et du miel sauvage.

KJV ⁴ And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

BAN ⁵ Alors Jérusalem et toute la Judée et tous les environs du Jourdain sortaient vers lui.

KJV ⁵ Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,

BAN ⁶ Et ils étaient baptisés par lui dans le fleuve du Jourdain, en confessant leurs péchés.

KJV ⁶ And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.

BAN ⁷ Mais voyant beaucoup des pharisiens et des sadducéens venir à son baptême, il leur dit : Race de vipères, qui vous a appris à fuir la colère à venir ?

KJV ⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

BAN ⁸ Produisez donc du fruit digne de la repentance.

KJV ⁸ Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

BAN ⁹ Et ne présumez pas de dire en vous-mêmes : Nous avons Abraham pour père ; car je vous dis que, de ces pierres-là, Dieu peut susciter des enfants à Abraham.

KJV ⁹ And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

BAN ¹⁰ Et déjà la hache est mise à la racine des arbres ; tout arbre donc qui ne produit point de bon fruit est coupé et jeté au feu.

KJV ¹⁰ And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

BAN ¹¹ Pour moi, je vous baptise d'eau, en vue de la repentance ; mais celui qui vient après moi est plus puissant que moi, et je ne suis pas digne de lui porter ses souliers ; c'est lui qui vous baptisera d'Esprit-Saint et de feu.

KJV ¹¹ I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

BAN ¹² Il a son van en sa main, et nettoiera parfaitement son aire, et amassera son froment dans le grenier, mais il brûlera la paille dans un feu qui ne s'éteint point.

KJV ¹² Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

BAN ¹³ Alors Jésus vient de la Galilée, au Jourdain, vers Jean, pour être baptisé par lui.

KJV ¹³ Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

BAN ¹⁴ Mais Jean s'y opposait, disant : C'est moi qui ai besoin d'être baptisé par toi, et tu viens à moi !

KJV ¹⁴ But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

BAN ¹⁵ Mais Jésus répondant, lui dit : Laisse faire pour le présent, car c'est ainsi qu'il nous sied d'accomplir toute justice. Alors il le laisse faire.

KJV ¹⁵ And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

BAN ¹⁶ Or, après avoir été baptisé, Jésus remonta aussitôt de l'eau ; et voici, les cieux furent ouverts, et il vit l'Esprit de Dieu, descendant comme une colombe, venant sur lui.

KJV ¹⁶ And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

BAN ¹⁷ Et voici une voix des cieux, qui disait : Celui-ci est mon fils bien-aimé, en qui je me complais.

KJV ¹⁷ And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

BAN ¹ Alors Jésus fut emmené dans le désert par l'Esprit, pour être tenté par le diable.

KJV ¹ Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

BAN ² Et ayant jeûné quarante jours et quarante nuits, après cela, il eut faim.

KJV ² And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

BAN ³ Et le tentateur s'étant approché, lui dit : Si tu es fils de Dieu, dis que ces pierres deviennent des pains.

KJV ³ And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

BAN ⁴ Mais lui, répondant, dit : Il est écrit : Ce n'est pas de pain seulement que l'homme vivra, mais de toute parole qui sort de la bouche de Dieu.

KJV ⁴ But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

BAN ⁵ Alors le diable le transporte dans la ville sainte et le met sur l'aile du saint lieu ;

KJV ⁵ Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

BAN ⁶ et lui dit : Si tu es fils de Dieu, jette-toi en bas ; car il est écrit : Il donnera à ses anges des ordres à ton sujet ; et ils te porteront sur leurs mains, de peur que tu ne heurtes ton pied contre une pierre.

KJV ⁶ And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

BAN ⁷ Jésus lui dit : Il est encore écrit : Tu ne tenteras point le Seigneur ton Dieu.

KJV ⁷ Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

BAN ⁸ Le diable le transporte encore sur une montagne fort haute ; et il lui montre tous les royaumes du monde et leur gloire,

KJV ⁸ Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

BAN ⁹ et lui dit : Je te donnerai toutes ces choses, si, te prosternant, tu m'adores.

KJV ⁹ And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

BAN ¹⁰ Alors Jésus lui dit : Va-t'en, Satan ; car il est écrit : Tu adoreras le Seigneur ton Dieu, et tu le serviras lui seul.

KJV ¹⁰ Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

BAN ¹¹ Alors le diable le laisse ; et voici, des anges s'approchèrent, et ils le servaient.

KJV ¹¹ Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

BAN ¹² Or, ayant appris que Jean avait été livré, il se retira dans la Galilée.

KJV ¹² Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;

BAN ¹³ Et ayant quitté Nazareth, il vint demeurer à Capernaüm, qui est proche de la mer, sur les confins de Zabulon et de Nephthali ;

KJV ¹³ And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

BAN ¹⁴ afin que fût accompli ce qui a été dit par Esaïe le prophète :

KJV ¹⁴ That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

BAN ¹⁵ La terre de Zabulon et la terre de Nephthali, sur le chemin de la mer, au delà du Jourdain, la Galilée des Gentils,

KJV ¹⁵ The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

BAN ¹⁶ le peuple assis dans les ténèbres, a vu une grande lumière, et sur ceux qui étaient assis dans la région et l'ombre de la mort la lumière s'est levée.

KJV ¹⁶ The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

BAN ¹⁷ Dès lors Jésus commença à prêcher, et à dire : Repentez-vous, car le royaume des cieux est proche.

KJV ¹⁷ From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

BAN ¹⁸ Et marchant le long de la mer de Galilée, il vit deux frères, Simon, appelé Pierre, et André son frère, qui jetaient un filet dans la mer, car ils étaient pêcheurs,

KJV ¹⁸ And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

BAN ¹⁹ et il leur dit : Venez, suivez-moi, et je vous ferai pêcheurs d'hommes.

KJV ¹⁹ And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

BAN ²⁰ Et eux, laissant aussitôt leurs filets, le suivirent.

KJV ²⁰ And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

BAN ²¹ Et ayant passé de là plus avant, il vit deux autres frères, Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et Jean son frère, dans la barque avec Zébédée leur père, arrangeant leurs filets, et il les appela.

KJV ²¹ And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

BAN ²² Et eux, laissant aussitôt la barque et leur père, le suivirent.

KJV ²² And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

BAN ²³ Et il parcourait toute la Galilée, enseignant dans leurs synagogues, et prêchant l'Evangile du royaume, et guérissant toute maladie et toute langueur parmi le peuple.

KJV ²³ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

BAN ²⁴ Et sa renommée se répandit dans toute la Syrie, et on lui présenta tous ceux qui se portaient mal, atteints de diverses maladies et de divers tourments, démoniaques, lunatiques et paralytiques ; et il les guérit.

KJV ²⁴ And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

BAN ²⁵ Et de grandes foules le suivirent de la Galilée, et de la Décapole, et de Jérusalem, et de Judée, et d'au delà le Jourdain.

KJV ²⁵ And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.
