BCC ¹ En ces jours-là parut Jean le Baptiste, prêchant dans le désert de Judée, et disant :

KJV ¹ In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,

BCC ² "Repentez-vous, car le royaume des cieux est proche."

KJV ² And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

BCC ³ C'est lui en effet dont a parlé le prophète Isaïe, disant : Voix de celui qui crie dans le désert : Préparez le chemin du Seigneur, aplanissez ses sentiers.

KJV ³ For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

BCC ⁴ Et lui, Jean, avait un vêtement de poil de chameau, et autour de ses reins une ceinture de cuir, et il se nourrissait de sauterelles et de miel sauvage.

KJV ⁴ And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

BCC ⁵ Alors venaient à lui Jérusalem, et toute la Judée, et toute la région du Jourdain.

KJV ⁵ Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,

BCC ⁶ Et, confessant leurs péchés, ils se faisaient baptiser par lui dans le fleuve du Jourdain.

KJV ⁶ And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.

BCC ⁷ Voyant un grand nombre de Pharisiens et de Sadducéens venir à son baptême, il leur dit : "race de vipères, qui vous a appris à fuir la colère qui vient ?

KJV ⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

BCC ⁸ Faites donc de dignes fruits de repentir.

KJV ⁸ Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

BCC ⁹ Et ne vous avisez pas de dire en vous-mêmes : nous avons Abraham pour père ; car je vous dis que de ces pierres mêmes Dieu peut faire naître des enfants à Abraham.

KJV ⁹ And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

BCC ¹⁰ Déjà la cognée est à la racine des arbres : tout arbre donc qui ne porte pas de bon fruit sera coupé et jeté au feu.

KJV ¹⁰ And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

BCC ¹¹ Moi, je vous baptise dans l'eau pour le repentir ; mais celui qui vient après moi est plus puissant que moi, et je ne suis pas digne de porter ses sandales ; lui, il vous baptisera dans l'Esprit-Saint et le feu.

KJV ¹¹ I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

BCC ¹² Dans sa main est le van : il nettoiera son aire, il amassera son froment dans le grenier, et il brûlera la paille dans un feu qui ne s'éteint point."

KJV ¹² Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

BCC ¹³ Alors parut Jésus, venant de Galilée au Jourdain vers Jean, pour être baptisé par lui.

KJV ¹³ Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

BCC ¹⁴ Jean s'en défendait en disant : "c'est moi qui ai besoin d'être baptisé par vous, et vous venez à moi !"

KJV ¹⁴ But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

BCC ¹⁵ Jésus lui répondit : "laisse faire maintenant, car il convient que nous accomplissions ainsi toute justice. "alors Jean le laissa faire.

KJV ¹⁵ And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

BCC ¹⁶ Jésus ayant été baptisé sortit aussitôt de l'eau, et voilà que les cieux s'ouvrirent pour lui, et il vit l'Esprit de Dieu descendre comme une colombe et venir sur lui.

KJV ¹⁶ And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

BCC ⁴ Il lui répondit : "il est écrit : l'homme ne vit pas seulement de pain, mais de toute parole qui sort de la bouche de Dieu."

KJV ⁴ But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

BCC ⁵ Alors le diable l'emmena dans la ville sainte, et, l'ayant posé sur le pinacle du temple,

KJV ⁵ Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

BCC ⁶ il lui dit : "si vous êtes fils de Dieu, jetez-vous en bas ; car il est écrit : Il donnera pour vous des ordres à ses anges, et ils vous prendront sur leurs mains, de peur que votre pied ne heurte contre une pierre."

KJV ⁶ And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

BCC ⁷ Jésus lui dit : "l est écrit aussi : Tu ne tenteras point le Seigneur, ton Dieu."

KJV ⁷ Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

BCC ⁸ Le diable, de nouveau, l'emmena sur une montagne très élevée, et lui montrant tous les royaumes du monde, avec leur gloire,

KJV ⁸ Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

BCC ⁹ il lui dit : "je vous donnerai tout cela, si, tombant à mes pieds, vous vous prosternez devant moi.

KJV ⁹ And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

BCC ¹⁰ Alors Jésus lui dit : "retire-toi, Satan ; car il est écrit : Tu adoreras le Seigneur, ton Dieu, et tu ne serviras que lui seul. "

KJV ¹⁰ Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

BCC ¹¹ Alors le diable le laissa, et voilà que des anges s'approchèrent pour le servir.

KJV ¹¹ Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

BCC ¹² Quand Jésus eut appris que Jean avait été livré, il se retira en Galilée.

BCC ¹⁵ Terre de Zabulon et terre de Nephtali, vers la mer, pays au delà du Jourdain, Galilée des Gentils !

KJV ¹⁵ The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

BCC ¹⁶ Le peuple qui était assis dans les ténèbres a vu une grande lumière ; et pour ceux qui étaient assis dans la région de l'ombre de la mort, une lumière s'est levée !

KJV ¹⁶ The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

BCC ¹⁷ Dès lors Jésus commença à prêcher, en disant : " Repentez-vous, car le royaume des cieux est proche. "

BCC ¹⁸ Comme il marchait le long de la mer de Galilée, il vit deux frères, Simon, dit Pierre, et André son frère, qui jetaient le filet dans la mer ; car ils étaient pêcheurs.

KJV ¹⁸ And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

BCC ¹⁹ Et il leur dit : "suivez-moi, et je vous ferai pêcheurs d'hommes."

KJV ¹⁹ And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

BCC ²⁰ Eux aussitôt, laissant leurs filets, le suivirent.

KJV ²⁰ And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

BCC ²¹ S'avançant plus loin, il vit deux autres frères, Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et Jean son frère, dans une barque, avec leur père Zébédée, réparant leurs filets, et il les appela.

KJV ²¹ And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

BCC ²² Eux, laissant à l'heure même leur barque et leur père, le suivirent.

KJV ²² And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

BCC ²³ Et Jésus parcourait toute la Galilée, enseignant dans leurs synagogues, prêchant la bonne nouvelle du royaume, et guérissant toute maladie et toute infirmité parmi le peuple.

KJV ²³ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

BCC ²⁴ Sa renommée se répandit par toute la Syrie, et on lui amenait tous les malades atteints d'infirmités et de souffrances diverses, des démoniaques, des lunatiques, des paralytiques, et il les guérissait.

KJV ²⁴ And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

BCC ²⁵ Et des foules nombreuses le suivirent de la Galilée, de la Décapole, de Jérusalem, de la Judée et d'au delà du Jourdain.

KJV ²⁵ And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.
