KJV ¹ In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,

S21 ¹ A cette époque-là parut Jean-Baptiste, qui prêchait dans le désert de Judée.

KJV ² And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

S21 ² Il disait: «Changez d'attitude, car le royaume des cieux est proche.»

KJV ³ For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

S21 ³ Jean est celui que le prophète Esaïe avait annoncé lorsqu'il a dit: C'est la voix de celui qui crie dans le désert: ‘Préparez le chemin du Seigneur, rendez ses sentiers droits.' 

KJV ⁴ And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

S21 ⁴ Jean portait un vêtement en poil de chameau et une ceinture de cuir autour de la taille. Il se nourrissait de sauterelles et de miel sauvage.

KJV ⁵ Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,

S21 ⁵ Les habitants de Jérusalem, de toute la Judée et de toute la région du Jourdain se rendaient vers lui.

KJV ⁶ And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.

S21 ⁶ Reconnaissant publiquement leurs péchés, ils se faisaient baptiser par lui dans les eaux du Jourdain.

KJV ⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

S21 ⁷ Cependant, quand il vit beaucoup de pharisiens et de sadducéens venir se faire baptiser par lui, il leur dit: «Races de vipères, qui vous a appris à fuir la colère à venir?

KJV ⁸ Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

S21 ⁸ Produisez donc du fruit qui confirme votre changement d'attitude

KJV ⁹ And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

S21 ⁹ et ne vous avisez pas de dire en vous-mêmes: ‘Nous avons Abraham pour ancêtre!' En effet, je vous déclare que de ces pierres Dieu peut faire naître des descendants à Abraham.

KJV ¹⁰ And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

S21 ¹⁰ Déjà la hache est mise à la racine des arbres; tout arbre qui ne produit pas de bons fruits sera donc coupé et jeté au feu.

KJV ¹¹ I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

S21 ¹¹ Moi, je vous baptise d'eau en vue de la repentance, mais celui qui vient après moi est plus puissant que moi et je ne suis pas digne de porter ses sandales. Lui, il vous baptisera du Saint-Esprit et de feu.

KJV ¹² Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

S21 ¹² Il a sa pelle à la main; il nettoiera son aire de battage et il amassera son blé dans le grenier, mais il brûlera la paille dans un feu qui ne s'éteint pas.»

KJV ¹³ Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

S21 ¹³ Alors Jésus vint de la Galilée jusqu'au Jourdain vers Jean, pour être baptisé par lui,

KJV ¹⁴ But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

S21 ¹⁴ mais Jean s'y opposait en disant: «C'est moi qui ai besoin d'être baptisé par toi, et c'est toi qui viens vers moi?»

KJV ¹⁵ And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

S21 ¹⁵ Jésus lui répondit: «Laisse faire maintenant, car il est convenable que nous accomplissions ainsi tout ce qui est juste», et Jean ne lui résista plus.

KJV ¹⁶ And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

S21 ¹⁶ Dès qu'il fut baptisé, Jésus sortit de l'eau. Alors le ciel s'ouvrit [pour lui] et il vit l'Esprit de Dieu descendre comme une colombe et venir sur lui.

KJV ¹⁷ And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

S21 ¹⁷ Au même instant, une voix fit entendre du ciel ces paroles: «Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé, qui a toute mon approbation.»

KJV ¹ Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

S21 ¹ Puis Jésus fut emmené par l'Esprit dans le désert pour être tenté par le diable.

KJV ² And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

S21 ² Après avoir jeûné 40 jours et 40 nuits, il eut faim.

KJV ³ And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

S21 ³ Le tentateur s'approcha et lui dit: «Si tu es le Fils de Dieu, ordonne que ces pierres deviennent des pains.»

KJV ⁴ But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

S21 ⁴ Jésus répondit: «Il est écrit: L'homme ne vivra pas de pain seulement, mais de toute parole qui sort de la bouche de Dieu.»

KJV ⁵ Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

S21 ⁵ Le diable le transporta alors dans la ville sainte, le plaça au sommet du temple

KJV ⁶ And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

S21 ⁶ et lui dit: «Si tu es le Fils de Dieu, jette-toi en bas! En effet, il est écrit: Il donnera des ordres à ses anges à ton sujet et ils te porteront sur les mains, de peur que ton pied ne heurte une pierre.»

KJV ⁷ Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

S21 ⁷ Jésus lui dit: «Il est aussi écrit: Tu ne provoqueras pas le Seigneur, ton Dieu.»

KJV ⁸ Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

S21 ⁸ Le diable le transporta encore sur une montagne très élevée, lui montra tous les royaumes du monde et leur gloire

KJV ⁹ And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

S21 ⁹ et lui dit: «Je te donnerai tout cela, si tu te prosternes pour m'adorer.»

KJV ¹⁰ Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

S21 ¹⁰ Jésus lui dit alors: «Retire-toi, Satan! En effet, il est écrit: C'est le Seigneur, ton Dieu, que tu adoreras et c'est lui seul que tu serviras.»

KJV ¹¹ Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

S21 ¹¹ Alors le diable le laissa. Et voici que des anges s'approchèrent de Jésus et le servirent.

KJV ¹² Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;

S21 ¹² Lorsqu'il apprit que Jean avait été arrêté, Jésus se retira en Galilée.

KJV ¹³ And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

S21 ¹³ Il quitta Nazareth et vint habiter à Capernaüm, ville située près du lac, dans le territoire de Zabulon et de Nephthali,

KJV ¹⁴ That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

S21 ¹⁴ afin que s'accomplisse ce qu'avait annoncé le prophète Esaïe:

KJV ¹⁵ The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

S21 ¹⁵ Territoire de Zabulon et de Nephthali, route de la mer, région située de l'autre côté du Jourdain, Galilée à la population étrangère!

KJV ¹⁶ The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

S21 ¹⁶ Le peuple assis dans les ténèbres a vu une grande lumière, et sur ceux qui se trouvaient dans le pays de l'ombre de la mort une lumière s'est levée. 

KJV ¹⁷ From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

S21 ¹⁷ Dès ce moment, Jésus commença à prêcher et à dire: «Changez d'attitude, car le royaume des cieux est proche.»

KJV ¹⁸ And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

S21 ¹⁸ Comme il marchait le long du lac de Galilée, il vit deux frères, Simon, appelé Pierre, et son frère André, qui jetaient un filet dans le lac; c'étaient en effet des pêcheurs.

KJV ¹⁹ And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

S21 ¹⁹ Il leur dit: «Suivez-moi et je ferai de vous des pêcheurs d'hommes.»

KJV ²⁰ And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

S21 ²⁰ Aussitôt, ils laissèrent les filets et le suivirent.

KJV ²¹ And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

S21 ²¹ Il alla plus loin et vit deux autres frères, Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et son frère Jean, qui étaient dans une barque avec leur père Zébédée et qui réparaient leurs filets. Il les appela,

KJV ²² And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

S21 ²² et aussitôt ils laissèrent la barque et leur père et le suivirent.

KJV ²³ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

S21 ²³ Jésus parcourait toute la Galilée; il enseignait dans les synagogues, proclamait la bonne nouvelle du royaume et guérissait toute maladie et toute infirmité parmi le peuple.

KJV ²⁴ And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

S21 ²⁴ Sa réputation gagna toute la Syrie et on lui amenait tous ceux qui souffraient de maladies et de douleurs de divers genres, des démoniaques, des épileptiques, des paralysés; et il les guérissait.

KJV ²⁵ And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.

S21 ²⁵ De grandes foules le suivirent, venues de la Galilée, de la Décapole, de Jérusalem, de la Judée et de l'autre côté du Jourdain.
