KJV ² And thy brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto thee: but thou and thy sons with thee shall minister before the tabernacle of witness.

LSG ² Fais aussi approcher de toi tes frères, la tribu de Lévi, la tribu de ton père, afin qu'ils te soient attachés et qu'ils te servent, lorsque toi, et tes fils avec toi, vous serez devant la tente du témoignage.

VULC ² Sed et fratres tuos de tribu Levi, et sceptrum patris tui sume tecum, præstoque sint, et ministrent tibi : tu autem et filii tui ministrabitis in tabernaculo testimonii.

KJV ³ And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: only they shall not come nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor ye also, die.

LSG ³ Ils observeront ce que tu leur ordonneras et ce qui concerne toute la tente ; mais ils ne s'approcheront ni des ustensiles du sanctuaire, ni de l'autel, de peur que vous ne mouriez, eux et vous.

VULC ³ Excubabuntque Levitæ ad præcepta tua, et ad cuncta opera tabernaculi : ita dumtaxat ut ad vasa sanctuarii et ad altare non accedant, ne et illi moriantur, et vos pereatis simul.

KJV ⁴ And they shall be joined unto thee, and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle: and a stranger shall not come nigh unto you.

VULC ⁴ Sint autem tecum, et excubent in custodiis tabernaculi, et in omnibus cæremoniis ejus. Alienigena non miscebitur vobis.

KJV ⁵ And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar: that there be no wrath any more upon the children of Israel.

KJV ⁶ And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel: to you they are given as a gift for the LORD, to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.

KJV ⁷ Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest's office for everything of the altar, and within the vail; and ye shall serve: I have given your priest's office unto you as a service of gift: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

LSG ⁷ Toi, et tes fils avec toi, vous observerez les fonctions de votre sacerdoce pour tout ce qui concerne l'autel et pour ce qui est en dedans du voile: c'est le service que vous ferez. Je vous accorde en pur don l'exercice du sacerdoce. L'étranger qui approchera sera mis à mort.

KJV ⁸ And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Behold, I also have given thee the charge of mine heave offerings of all the hallowed things of the children of Israel; unto thee have I given them by reason of the anointing, and to thy sons, by an ordinance for ever.

KJV ⁹ This shall be thine of the most holy things, reserved from the fire: every oblation of their's, every meat offering of their's, and every sin offering of their's, and every trespass offering of their's which they shall render unto me, shall be most holy for thee and for thy sons.

KJV ¹⁶ And those that are to be redeemed from a month old shalt thou redeem, according to thine estimation, for the money of five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, which is twenty gerahs.

KJV ¹⁷ But the firstling of a cow, or the firstling of a sheep, or the firstling of a goat, thou shalt not redeem; they are holy: thou shalt sprinkle their blood upon the altar, and shalt burn their fat for an offering made by fire, for a sweet savour unto the LORD.

LSG ¹⁷ Mais tu ne feras point racheter le premier-né du boeuf, ni le premier-né de la brebis, ni le premier-né de la chèvre: ce sont des choses saintes. Tu répandras leur sang sur l'autel, et tu brûleras leur graisse: ce sera un sacrifice consumé par le feu, d'une agréable odeur à l'Éternel.

KJV ¹⁸ And the flesh of them shall be thine, as the wave breast and as the right shoulder are thine.

KJV ¹⁹ All the heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer unto the LORD, have I given thee, and thy sons and thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: it is a covenant of salt for ever before the LORD unto thee and to thy seed with thee.

KJV ²⁰ And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.

KJV ²¹ And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.

KJV ²² Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die.

KJV ²³ But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance.

LSG ²³ Les Lévites feront le service de la tente d'assignation, et ils resteront chargés de leurs iniquités. Ils n'auront point de possession au milieu des enfants d'Israël: ce sera une loi perpétuelle parmi vos descendants.

VULC ²³ solis filiis Levi mihi in tabernaculo servientibus, et portantibus peccata populi. Legitimum sempiternum erit in generationibus vestris. Nihil aliud possidebunt,

KJV ²⁴ But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave offering unto the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.

KJV ²⁵ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

KJV ²⁶ Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe.

LSG ²⁶ Tu parleras aux Lévites, et tu leur diras: Lorsque vous recevrez des enfants d'Israël la dîme que je vous donne de leur part comme votre possession, vous en prélèverez une offrande pour l'Éternel, une dîme de la dîme ;

KJV ²⁷ And this your heave offering shall be reckoned unto you, as though it were the corn of the threshingfloor, and as the fulness of the winepress.

LSG ²⁷ et votre offrande vous sera comptée comme le blé qu'on prélève de l'aire et comme le moût qu'on prélève de la cuve.

VULC ²⁷ ut reputetur vobis in oblationem primitivorum, tam de areis quam de torcularibus :

WLC ²⁷ וְנֶחְשַׁ֥ב לָכֶ֖ם תְּרוּמַתְכֶ֑ם כַּדָּגָן֙ מִן־ הַגֹּ֔רֶן וְכַֽמְלֵאָ֖ה מִן־ הַיָּֽקֶב׃

KJV ²⁸ Thus ye also shall offer an heave offering unto the LORD of all your tithes, which ye receive of the children of Israel; and ye shall give thereof the LORD's heave offering to Aaron the priest.

LSG ²⁸ C'est ainsi que vous prélèverez une offrande pour l'Éternel sur toutes les dîmes que vous recevrez des enfants d'Israël, et vous donnerez au sacrificateur Aaron l'offrande que vous en aurez prélevée pour l'Éternel.

KJV ²⁹ Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering of the LORD, of all the best thereof, even the hallowed part thereof out of it.

LSG ²⁹ Sur tous les dons qui vous seront faits, vous prélèverez toutes les offrandes pour l'Éternel ; sur tout ce qu'il y aura de meilleur, vous prélèverez la portion consacrée.

KJV ³⁰ Therefore thou shalt say unto them, When ye have heaved the best thereof from it, then it shall be counted unto the Levites as the increase of the threshingfloor, and as the increase of the winepress.

LSG ³⁰ Tu leur diras: Quand vous en aurez prélevé le meilleur, la dîme sera comptée aux Lévites comme le revenu de l'aire et comme le revenu de la cuve.

VULC ³⁰ Dicesque ad eos : Si præclara et meliora quæque obtuleritis ex decimis, reputabitur vobis quasi de area, et torculari dederitis primitias :

KJV ³¹ And ye shall eat it in every place, ye and your households: for it is your reward for your service in the tabernacle of the congregation.

LSG ³¹ Vous la mangerez en un lieu quelconque, vous et votre maison ; car c'est votre salaire pour le service que vous faites dans la tente d'assignation.

KJV ³² And ye shall bear no sin by reason of it, when ye have heaved from it the best of it: neither shall ye pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, lest ye die.

LSG ³² Vous ne serez chargés pour cela d'aucun péché, quand vous en aurez prélevé le meilleur, vous ne profanerez point les offrandes saintes des enfants d'Israël, et vous ne mourrez point.

VULC ³² Et non peccabitis super hoc, egregia vobis et pinguia reservantes, ne polluatis oblationes filiorum Israël, et moriamini.

KJV ³ And ye shall give her unto Eleazar the priest, that he may bring her forth without the camp, and one shall slay her before his face:

KJV ⁴ And Eleazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, and sprinkle of her blood directly before the tabernacle of the congregation seven times:

LSG ⁴ Le sacrificateur Éléazar prendra du sang de la vache avec le doigt, et il en fera sept fois l'aspersion sur le devant de la tente d'assignation.

KJV ⁵ And one shall burn the heifer in his sight; her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, with her dung, shall he burn:

LSG ⁵ On brûlera la vache sous ses yeux ; on brûlera sa peau, sa chair et son sang, avec ses excréments.

VULC ⁵ comburetque eam cunctis videntibus, tam pelle et carnibus ejus quam sanguine et fimo flammæ traditis.

WLC ⁵ וְשָׂרַ֥ף אֶת־ הַפָּרָ֖ה לְעֵינָ֑יו אֶת־ עֹרָ֤הּ וְאֶת־ בְּשָׂרָהּ֙ וְאֶת־ דָּמָ֔הּ עַל־ פִּרְשָׁ֖הּ יִשְׂרֹֽף׃

KJV ⁶ And the priest shall take cedar wood, and hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer.

LSG ⁶ Le sacrificateur prendra du bois de cèdre, de l'hysope et du cramoisi, et il les jettera au milieu des flammes qui consumeront la vache.

KJV ⁷ Then the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the even.

LSG ⁷ Le sacrificateur lavera ses vêtements, et lavera son corps dans l'eau ; puis il rentrera dans le camp, et sera impur jusqu'au soir.

VULC ⁷ Et tunc demum, lotis vestibus et corpore suo, ingredietur in castra, commaculatusque erit usque ad vesperum.

KJV ⁸ And he that burneth her shall wash his clothes in water, and bathe his flesh in water, and shall be unclean until the even.

LSG ⁸ Celui qui aura brûlé la vache lavera ses vêtements dans l'eau, et lavera son corps dans l'eau ; et il sera impur jusqu'au soir.

VULC ⁸ Sed et ille qui combusserit eam, lavabit vestimenta sua et corpus, et immundus erit usque ad vesperum.

WLC ⁸ וְהַשֹּׂרֵ֣ף אֹתָ֔הּ יְכַבֵּ֤ס בְּגָדָיו֙ בַּמַּ֔יִם וְרָחַ֥ץ בְּשָׂר֖וֹ בַּמָּ֑יִם וְטָמֵ֖א עַד־ הָעָֽרֶב׃

KJV ⁹ And a man that is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer, and lay them up without the camp in a clean place, and it shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Israel for a water of separation: it is a purification for sin.

LSG ⁹ Un homme pur recueillera la cendre de la vache, et la déposera hors du camp, dans un lieu pur ; on la conservera pour l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël, afin d'en faire l'eau de purification. C'est une eau expiatoire.

VULC ⁹ Colliget autem vir mundus cineres vaccæ, et effundet eos extra castra in loco purissimo, ut sint multitudini filiorum Israël in custodiam, et in aquam aspersionis : quia pro peccato vacca combusta est.

KJV ¹⁰ And he that gathereth the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: and it shall be unto the children of Israel, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among them, for a statute for ever.

KJV ¹¹ He that toucheth the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days.

KJV ¹² He shall purify himself with it on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean: but if he purify not himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean.

KJV ¹³ Whosoever toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water of separation was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him.

LSG ¹³ Celui qui touchera un mort, le corps d'un homme qui sera mort, et qui ne se purifiera pas, souille le tabernacle de l'Éternel ; celui-là sera retranché d'Israël. Comme l'eau de purification n'a pas été répandue sur lui, il est impur, et son impureté est encore sur lui.

VULC ¹³ Omnis qui tetigerit humanæ animæ morticinum, et aspersus hac commistione non fuerit, polluet tabernaculum Domini et peribit ex Israël : quia aqua expiationis non est aspersus, immundus erit, et manebit spurcitia ejus super eum.

KJV ¹⁴ This is the law, when a man dieth in a tent: all that come into the tent, and all that is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days.

KJV ¹⁵ And every open vessel, which hath no covering bound upon it, is unclean.

KJV ¹⁶ And whosoever toucheth one that is slain with a sword in the open fields, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.

KJV ¹⁷ And for an unclean person they shall take of the ashes of the burnt heifer of purification for sin, and running water shall be put thereto in a vessel:

KJV ¹⁸ And a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched a bone, or one slain, or one dead, or a grave:

LSG ¹⁸ Un homme pur prendra de l'hysope, et la trempera dans l'eau ; puis il en fera l'aspersion sur la tente, sur tous les ustensiles, sur les personnes qui sont là, sur celui qui a touché des ossements, ou un homme tué, ou un mort, ou un sépulcre.

VULC ¹⁸ in quibus cum homo mundus tinxerit hyssopum, asperget ex eo omne tentorium, et cunctam supellectilem, et homines hujuscemodi contagione pollutos :

WLC ¹⁸ וְלָקַ֨ח אֵז֜וֹב וְטָבַ֣ל בַּמַּיִם֮ אִ֣ישׁ טָהוֹר֒ וְהִזָּ֤ה עַל־ הָאֹ֙הֶל֙ וְעַל־ כָּל־ הַכֵּלִ֔ים וְעַל־ הַנְּפָשׁ֖וֹת אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָֽיוּ־ שָׁ֑ם וְעַל־ הַנֹּגֵ֗עַ בַּעֶ֙צֶם֙ א֣וֹ בֶֽחָלָ֔ל א֥וֹ בַמֵּ֖ת א֥וֹ בַקָּֽבֶר׃

KJV ¹⁹ And the clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day: and on the seventh day he shall purify himself, and wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at even.

LSG ¹⁹ Celui qui est pur fera l'aspersion sur celui qui est impur, le troisième jour et le septième jour, et il le purifiera le septième jour. Il lavera ses vêtements, et se lavera dans l'eau ; et le soir, il sera pur.

VULC ¹⁹ atque hoc modo mundus lustrabit immundum tertio et septimo die : expiatusque die septimo, lavabit et se et vestimenta sua, et immundus erit usque ad vesperum.

WLC ¹⁹ וְהִזָּ֤ה הַטָּהֹר֙ עַל־ הַטָּמֵ֔א בַּיּ֥וֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֖י וּבַיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֑י וְחִטְּאוֹ֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י וְכִבֶּ֧ס בְּגָדָ֛יו וְרָחַ֥ץ בַּמַּ֖יִם וְטָהֵ֥ר בָּעָֽרֶב׃

KJV ²⁰ But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from among the congregation, because he hath defiled the sanctuary of the LORD: the water of separation hath not been sprinkled upon him; he is unclean.

LSG ²⁰ Un homme qui sera impur, et qui ne se purifiera pas, sera retranché du milieu de l'assemblée, car il a souillé le sanctuaire de l'Éternel ; comme l'eau de purification n'a pas été répandue sur lui, il est impur.

VULC ²⁰ Si quis hoc ritu non fuerit expiatus, peribit anima illius de medio ecclesiæ : quia sanctuarium Domini polluit, et non est aqua lustrationis aspersus.

WLC ²⁰ וְאִ֤ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־ יִטְמָא֙ וְלֹ֣א יִתְחַטָּ֔א וְנִכְרְתָ֛ה הַנֶּ֥פֶשׁ הַהִ֖וא מִתּ֣וֹךְ הַקָּהָ֑ל כִּי֩ אֶת־ מִקְדַּ֨שׁ יְהוָ֜ה טִמֵּ֗א מֵ֥י נִדָּ֛ה לֹא־ זֹרַ֥ק עָלָ֖יו טָמֵ֥א הֽוּא׃

KJV ²¹ And it shall be a perpetual statute unto them, that he that sprinkleth the water of separation shall wash his clothes; and he that toucheth the water of separation shall be unclean until even.

LSG ²¹ Ce sera pour eux une loi perpétuelle. Celui qui fera l'aspersion de l'eau de purification lavera ses vêtements, et celui qui touchera l'eau de purification sera impur jusqu'au soir.

VULC ²¹ Erit hoc præceptum legitimum sempiternum. Ipse quoque qui aspergit aquas, lavabit vestimenta sua. Omnis qui tetigerit aquas expiationis, immundus erit usque ad vesperum.

WLC ²¹ וְהָיְתָ֥ה לָּהֶ֖ם לְחֻקַּ֣ת עוֹלָ֑ם וּמַזֵּ֤ה מֵֽי־ הַנִּדָּה֙ יְכַבֵּ֣ס בְּגָדָ֔יו וְהַנֹּגֵ֙עַ֙ בְּמֵ֣י הַנִּדָּ֔ה יִטְמָ֖א עַד־ הָעָֽרֶב׃

KJV ²² And whatsoever the unclean person toucheth shall be unclean; and the soul that toucheth it shall be unclean until even.

LSG ²² Tout ce que touchera celui qui est impur sera souillé, et la personne qui le touchera sera impure jusqu'au soir.

VULC ²² Quidquid tetigerit immundus, immundum faciet : et anima, quæ horum quippiam tetigerit, immunda erit usque ad vesperum.

WLC ²² וְכֹ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־ יִגַּע־ בּ֥וֹ הַטָּמֵ֖א יִטְמָ֑א וְהַנֶּ֥פֶשׁ הַנֹּגַ֖עַת תִּטְמָ֥א עַד־ הָעָֽרֶב׃

KJV ¹ Then came the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, into the desert of Zin in the first month: and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there.

LSG ¹ Toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël arriva dans le désert de Tsin le premier mois, et le peuple s'arrêta à Kadès. C'est là que mourut Marie, et qu'elle fut enterrée.

VULC ¹ Veneruntque filii Israël et omnis multitudo in desertum Sin, mense primo, et mansit populus in Cades. Mortuaque est ibi Maria, et sepulta in eodem loco.

KJV ² And there was no water for the congregation: and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.

LSG ² Il n'y avait point d'eau pour l'assemblée ; et l'on se souleva contre Moïse et Aaron.

VULC ² Cumque indigeret aqua populus, convenerunt adversum Moysen et Aaron :

WLC ² וְלֹא־ הָ֥יָה מַ֖יִם לָעֵדָ֑ה וַיִּקָּ֣הֲל֔וּ עַל־ מֹשֶׁ֖ה וְעַֽל־ אַהֲרֹֽן׃

KJV ³ And the people chode with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God that we had died when our brethren died before the LORD!

LSG ³ Le peuple chercha querelle à Moïse. Ils dirent: Que n'avons-nous expiré, quand nos frères expirèrent devant l'Éternel ?

VULC ³ et versi in seditionem, dixerunt : Utinam periissemus inter fratres nostros coram Domino.

WLC ³ וַיָּ֥רֶב הָעָ֖ם עִם־ מֹשֶׁ֑ה וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ לֵאמֹ֔ר וְל֥וּ גָוַ֛עְנוּ בִּגְוַ֥ע אַחֵ֖ינוּ לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ⁴ And why have ye brought up the congregation of the LORD into this wilderness, that we and our cattle should die there?

LSG ⁴ Pourquoi avez-vous fait venir l'assemblée de l'Éternel dans ce désert, pour que nous y mourions, nous et notre bétail ?

VULC ⁴ Cur eduxistis ecclesiam Domini in solitudinem, ut et nos et nostra jumenta moriamur ?

WLC ⁴ וְלָמָ֤ה הֲבֵאתֶם֙ אֶת־ קְהַ֣ל יְהוָ֔ה אֶל־ הַמִּדְבָּ֖ר הַזֶּ֑ה לָמ֣וּת שָׁ֔ם אֲנַ֖חְנוּ וּבְעִירֵֽנוּ׃

KJV ⁵ And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.

LSG ⁵ Pourquoi nous avez-vous fait monter hors d'Égypte, pour nous amener dans ce méchant lieu ? Ce n'est pas un lieu où l'on puisse semer, et il n'y a ni figuier, ni vigne, ni grenadier, ni d'eau à boire.

VULC ⁵ quare nos fecistis ascendere de Ægypto, et adduxistis in locum istum pessimum, qui seri non potest, qui nec ficum gignit, nec vineas, nec malogranata, insuper et aquam non habet ad bibendum ?

WLC ⁵ וְלָמָ֤ה הֶֽעֱלִיתֻ֙נוּ֙ מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם לְהָבִ֣יא אֹתָ֔נוּ אֶל־ הַמָּק֥וֹם הָרָ֖ע הַזֶּ֑ה לֹ֣א ׀ מְק֣וֹם זֶ֗רַע וּתְאֵנָ֤ה וְגֶ֙פֶן֙ וְרִמּ֔וֹן וּמַ֥יִם אַ֖יִן לִשְׁתּֽוֹת׃

KJV ⁶ And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them.

LSG ⁶ Moïse et Aaron s'éloignèrent de l'assemblée pour aller à l'entrée de la tente d'assignation. Ils tombèrent sur leur visage ; et la gloire de l'Éternel leur apparut.

VULC ⁶ Ingressusque Moyses et Aaron, dimissa multitudine, tabernaculum fœderis, corruerunt proni in terram, clamaveruntque ad Dominum, atque dixerunt : Domine Deus, audi clamorem hujus populi, et aperi eis thesaurum tuum fontem aquæ vivæ, ut satiati, cesset murmuratio eorum. Et apparuit gloria Domini super eos.

WLC ⁷ וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃

KJV ⁸ Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.

LSG ⁸ Prends la verge, et convoque l'assemblée, toi et ton frère Aaron. Vous parlerez en leur présence au rocher, et il donnera ses eaux ; tu feras sortir pour eux de l'eau du rocher, et tu abreuveras l'assemblée et leur bétail.

VULC ⁸ Tolle virgam, et congrega populum, tu et Aaron frater tuus, et loquimini ad petram coram eis, et illa dabit aquas. Cumque eduxeris aquam de petra, bibet omnis multitudo et jumenta ejus.

WLC ⁸ קַ֣ח אֶת־ הַמַּטֶּ֗ה וְהַקְהֵ֤ל אֶת־ הָעֵדָה֙ אַתָּה֙ וְאַהֲרֹ֣ן אָחִ֔יךָ וְדִבַּרְתֶּ֧ם אֶל־ הַסֶּ֛לַע לְעֵינֵיהֶ֖ם וְנָתַ֣ן מֵימָ֑יו וְהוֹצֵאתָ֨ לָהֶ֥ם מַ֙יִם֙ מִן־ הַסֶּ֔לַע וְהִשְׁקִיתָ֥ אֶת־ הָעֵדָ֖ה וְאֶת־ בְּעִירָֽם׃

KJV ⁹ And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.

LSG ⁹ Moïse prit la verge qui était devant l'Éternel, comme l'Éternel le lui avait ordonné.

VULC ⁹ Tulit igitur Moyses virgam, quæ erat in conspectu Domini, sicut præceperat ei,

WLC ⁹ וַיִּקַּ֥ח מֹשֶׁ֛ה אֶת־ הַמַּטֶּ֖ה מִלִּפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר צִוָּֽהוּ׃

KJV ¹⁰ And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?

LSG ¹⁰ Moïse et Aaron convoquèrent l'assemblée en face du rocher. Et Moïse leur dit: Écoutez donc, rebelles ! Est-ce de ce rocher que nous vous ferons sortir de l'eau ?

VULC ¹⁰ congregata multitudine ante petram : dixitque eis : Audite, rebelles et increduli : num de petra hac vobis aquam poterimus ejicere ?

WLC ¹⁰ וַיַּקְהִ֜לוּ מֹשֶׁ֧ה וְאַהֲרֹ֛ן אֶת־ הַקָּהָ֖ל אֶל־ פְּנֵ֣י הַסָּ֑לַע וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לָהֶ֗ם שִׁמְעוּ־ נָא֙ הַמֹּרִ֔ים הֲמִן־ הַסֶּ֣לַע הַזֶּ֔ה נוֹצִ֥יא לָכֶ֖ם מָֽיִם׃

KJV ¹¹ And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.

LSG ¹¹ Puis Moïse leva la main et frappa deux fois le rocher avec sa verge. Il sortit de l'eau en abondance. L'assemblée but, et le bétail aussi.

VULC ¹¹ Cumque elevasset Moyses manum, percutiens virga bis silicem, egressæ sunt aquæ largissimæ, ita ut populus biberet et jumenta.

WLC ¹¹ וַיָּ֨רֶם מֹשֶׁ֜ה אֶת־ יָד֗וֹ וַיַּ֧ךְ אֶת־ הַסֶּ֛לַע בְּמַטֵּ֖הוּ פַּעֲמָ֑יִם וַיֵּצְאוּ֙ מַ֣יִם רַבִּ֔ים וַתֵּ֥שְׁתְּ הָעֵדָ֖ה וּבְעִירָֽם׃

KJV ¹² And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

LSG ¹² Alors l'Éternel dit à Moïse et à Aaron: Parce que vous n'avez pas cru en moi, pour me sanctifier aux yeux des enfants d'Israël, vous ne ferez point entrer cette assemblée dans le pays que je lui donne.

VULC ¹² Dixitque Dominus ad Moysen et Aaron : Quia non credidistis mihi, ut sanctificaretis me coram filiis Israël, non introducetis hos populos in terram, quam dabo eis.

WLC ¹² וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָה֮ אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֣ה וְאֶֽל־ אַהֲרֹן֒ יַ֚עַן לֹא־ הֶאֱמַנְתֶּ֣ם בִּ֔י לְהַ֨קְדִּישֵׁ֔נִי לְעֵינֵ֖י בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל לָכֵ֗ן לֹ֤א תָבִ֙יאוּ֙ אֶת־ הַקָּהָ֣ל הַזֶּ֔ה אֶל־ הָאָ֖רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־ נָתַ֥תִּי לָהֶֽם׃

KJV ¹³ This is the water of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and he was sanctified in them.
