KJV ² And thy brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto thee: but thou and thy sons with thee shall minister before the tabernacle of witness.

MAR ² Fais aussi approcher de toi tes frères, la Tribu de Lévi, qui est la Tribu de ton père, afin qu'ils te soient adjoints et qu'ils te servent, mais toi et tes fils avec toi, vous servirez devant le Tabernacle du Témoignage.

VULC ² Sed et fratres tuos de tribu Levi, et sceptrum patris tui sume tecum, præstoque sint, et ministrent tibi : tu autem et filii tui ministrabitis in tabernaculo testimonii.

KJV ³ And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: only they shall not come nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor ye also, die.

MAR ³ Ils garderont ce que tu leur ordonneras de garder, et ce qu'il faut garder de tout le Tabernacle, mais ils n'approcheront point des vaisseaux du Sanctuaire, ni de l'autel, de peur qu'ils ne meurent, et que vous ne mouriez avec eux.

VULC ³ Excubabuntque Levitæ ad præcepta tua, et ad cuncta opera tabernaculi : ita dumtaxat ut ad vasa sanctuarii et ad altare non accedant, ne et illi moriantur, et vos pereatis simul.

KJV ⁴ And they shall be joined unto thee, and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle: and a stranger shall not come nigh unto you.

MAR ⁴ Ils te seront donc adjoints, et ils garderont tout ce qu'il faut garder au Tabernacle d'assignation, selon tout le service du Tabernacle ; et nul étranger n'approchera de vous.

VULC ⁴ Sint autem tecum, et excubent in custodiis tabernaculi, et in omnibus cæremoniis ejus. Alienigena non miscebitur vobis.

WLC ⁴ וְנִלְו֣וּ עָלֶ֔יךָ וְשָֽׁמְר֗וּ אֶת־ מִשְׁמֶ֙רֶת֙ אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד לְכֹ֖ל עֲבֹדַ֣ת הָאֹ֑הֶל וְזָ֖ר לֹא־ יִקְרַ֥ב אֲלֵיכֶֽם׃

KJV ⁵ And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar: that there be no wrath any more upon the children of Israel.

MAR ⁵ Mais vous prendrez garde à ce qu'il faut faire dans le Sanctuaire, et à ce qu'il faut faire à l'autel, afin qu'il n'y ait plus d'indignation sur les enfants d'Israël.

VULC ⁵ Excubate in custodia sanctuarii, et in ministerio altaris : ne oriatur indignatio super filios Israël.

WLC ⁵ וּשְׁמַרְתֶּ֗ם אֵ֚ת מִשְׁמֶ֣רֶת הַקֹּ֔דֶשׁ וְאֵ֖ת מִשְׁמֶ֣רֶת הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ וְלֹֽא־ יִהְיֶ֥ה ע֛וֹד קֶ֖צֶף עַל־ בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJV ⁶ And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel: to you they are given as a gift for the LORD, to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.

MAR ⁶ Car quant à moi, voici, j'ai pris vos frères les Lévites du milieu des enfants d'Israël, lesquels vous sont donnés en pur don pour l'Eternel, afin qu'ils soient employés au service du Tabernacle d'assignation.

VULC ⁶ Ego dedi vobis fratres vestros Levitas de medio filiorum Israël, et tradidi donum Domino, ut serviant in ministeriis tabernaculi ejus.

WLC ⁶ וַאֲנִ֗י הִנֵּ֤ה לָקַ֙חְתִּי֙ אֶת־ אֲחֵיכֶ֣ם הַלְוִיִּ֔ם מִתּ֖וֹךְ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל לָכֶ֞ם מַתָּנָ֤ה נְתֻנִים֙ לַֽיהוָ֔ה לַעֲבֹ֕ד אֶת־ עֲבֹדַ֖ת אֹ֥הֶל מוֹעֵֽד׃

KJV ⁷ Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest's office for everything of the altar, and within the vail; and ye shall serve: I have given your priest's office unto you as a service of gift: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

MAR ⁷ Mais toi et tes fils avec toi, vous ferez la charge de votre Sacrificature en tout ce qui concerne l'autel et ce qui est au dedans du voile, et vous y ferez le service. J'établis votre Sacrificature en office de pur don ; c'est pourquoi si quelque étranger en approche, on le fera mourir.

VULC ⁷ Tu autem et filii tui custodite sacerdotium vestrum : et omnia quæ ad cultum altaris pertinent, et intra velum sunt, per sacerdotes administrabuntur : si quis externus accesserit, occidetur.

KJV ⁸ And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Behold, I also have given thee the charge of mine heave offerings of all the hallowed things of the children of Israel; unto thee have I given them by reason of the anointing, and to thy sons, by an ordinance for ever.

KJV ⁹ This shall be thine of the most holy things, reserved from the fire: every oblation of their's, every meat offering of their's, and every sin offering of their's, and every trespass offering of their's which they shall render unto me, shall be most holy for thee and for thy sons.

MAR ⁹ Ceci t'appartiendra d'entre les choses très-saintes qui ne sont point brûlées, [savoir] toutes leurs offrandes, soit de tous leurs gâteaux, soit de tous [leurs sacrifices] pour le péché, soit de tous [leurs sacrifices] pour le délit, qu'ils m'apporteront ; ce sont des choses très-saintes pour toi et pour tes enfants.

KJV ¹⁰ In the most holy place shalt thou eat it; every male shall eat it: it shall be holy unto thee.

KJV ¹⁶ And those that are to be redeemed from a month old shalt thou redeem, according to thine estimation, for the money of five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, which is twenty gerahs.

KJV ¹⁷ But the firstling of a cow, or the firstling of a sheep, or the firstling of a goat, thou shalt not redeem; they are holy: thou shalt sprinkle their blood upon the altar, and shalt burn their fat for an offering made by fire, for a sweet savour unto the LORD.

MAR ¹⁷ Mais on ne rachètera point le premier-né de la vache, ni le premier-né de la brebis, ni le premier-né de la chèvre ; car ce sont des choses saintes. Tu répandras leur sang sur l'autel, et tu feras fumer leur graisse ; c'est un sacrifice fait par feu en bonne odeur à l'Eternel.

VULC ¹⁷ Primogenitum autem bovis, et ovis, et capræ, non facies redimi, quia sanctificata sunt Domino. Sanguinem tantum eorum fundes super altare, et adipes adolebis in suavissimum odorem Domino.

KJV ¹⁸ And the flesh of them shall be thine, as the wave breast and as the right shoulder are thine.

KJV ¹⁹ All the heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer unto the LORD, have I given thee, and thy sons and thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: it is a covenant of salt for ever before the LORD unto thee and to thy seed with thee.

KJV ²⁰ And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.

KJV ²¹ And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.

KJV ²² Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die.

KJV ²³ But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance.

MAR ²³ Mais les Lévites s'emploieront au service du Tabernacle d'assignation et ils porteront leur iniquité ; cette ordonnance sera perpétuelle en vos âges, et ils ne posséderont point d'héritage parmi les enfants d'Israël.

WLC ²³ וְעָבַ֨ד הַלֵּוִ֜י ה֗וּא אֶת־ עֲבֹדַת֙ אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד וְהֵ֖ם יִשְׂא֣וּ עֲוֺנָ֑ם חֻקַּ֤ת עוֹלָם֙ לְדֹרֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם וּבְתוֹךְ֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לֹ֥א יִנְחֲל֖וּ נַחֲלָֽה׃

KJV ²⁴ But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave offering unto the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.

MAR ²⁴ Car j'ai donné pour héritage aux Lévites les dîmes des enfants d'Israël, qu'ils offriront à l'Eternel en offrande élevée ; c'est pourquoi j'ai dit d'eux, qu'ils n'auront point d'héritage parmi les enfants d'Israël.

KJV ²⁵ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

KJV ²⁶ Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe.

MAR ²⁶ Tu parleras aussi aux Lévites, et tu leur diras : Quand vous aurez reçu des enfants d'Israël les dîmes que je vous ai donné à prendre d'eux pour votre héritage, vous offrirez de ces dîmes l'offrande élevée de l'Eternel, [savoir] la dîme de la dîme.

VULC ²⁶ Præcipe Levitis, atque denuntia : Cum acceperitis a filiis Israël decimas, quas dedi vobis, primitias earum offerte Domino, id est, decimam partem decimæ,

WLC ²⁶ וְאֶל־ הַלְוִיִּ֣ם תְּדַבֵּר֮ וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵהֶם֒ כִּֽי־ תִ֠קְחוּ מֵאֵ֨ת בְּנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל אֶת־ הַֽמַּעֲשֵׂ֗ר אֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתַ֧תִּי לָכֶ֛ם מֵאִתָּ֖ם בְּנַחֲלַתְכֶ֑ם וַהֲרֵמֹתֶ֤ם מִמֶּ֙נּוּ֙ תְּרוּמַ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה מַעֲשֵׂ֖ר מִן־ הַֽמַּעֲשֵֽׂר׃

KJV ²⁷ And this your heave offering shall be reckoned unto you, as though it were the corn of the threshingfloor, and as the fulness of the winepress.

MAR ²⁷ Et votre offrande élevée vous sera imputée comme le froment pris de l'aire, et comme l'abondance prise de la cuve.

VULC ²⁷ ut reputetur vobis in oblationem primitivorum, tam de areis quam de torcularibus :

KJV ²⁸ Thus ye also shall offer an heave offering unto the LORD of all your tithes, which ye receive of the children of Israel; and ye shall give thereof the LORD's heave offering to Aaron the priest.

MAR ²⁸ Vous donc aussi vous offrirez l'offrande élevée de l'Eternel de toutes vos dîmes que vous aurez reçues des enfants d'Israël, et vous en donnerez de chacune l'offrande élevée de l'Eternel à Aaron Sacrificateur.

KJV ²⁹ Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering of the LORD, of all the best thereof, even the hallowed part thereof out of it.

WLC ²⁹ מִכֹּל֙ מַתְּנֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם תָּרִ֕ימוּ אֵ֖ת כָּל־ תְּרוּמַ֣ת יְהוָ֑ה מִכָּל־ חֶלְבּ֔וֹ אֶֽת־ מִקְדְּשׁ֖וֹ מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃

KJV ³⁰ Therefore thou shalt say unto them, When ye have heaved the best thereof from it, then it shall be counted unto the Levites as the increase of the threshingfloor, and as the increase of the winepress.

KJV ³¹ And ye shall eat it in every place, ye and your households: for it is your reward for your service in the tabernacle of the congregation.

KJV ³² And ye shall bear no sin by reason of it, when ye have heaved from it the best of it: neither shall ye pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, lest ye die.

MAR ³² Vous ne serez point coupables de péché au sujet de la dîme, quand vous en aurez offert en offrande élevée ce qu'il y aura de meilleur, et vous ne souillerez point les choses saintes des enfants d'Israël, et vous ne mourrez point.

VULC ³² Et non peccabitis super hoc, egregia vobis et pinguia reservantes, ne polluatis oblationes filiorum Israël, et moriamini.

KJV ² This is the ordinance of the law which the LORD hath commanded, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke:

KJV ³ And ye shall give her unto Eleazar the priest, that he may bring her forth without the camp, and one shall slay her before his face:

KJV ⁴ And Eleazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, and sprinkle of her blood directly before the tabernacle of the congregation seven times:

KJV ⁵ And one shall burn the heifer in his sight; her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, with her dung, shall he burn:

MAR ⁵ Et on brûlera la jeune vache en sa présence ; on brûlera sa peau, sa chair, et son sang et sa fiente.

VULC ⁵ comburetque eam cunctis videntibus, tam pelle et carnibus ejus quam sanguine et fimo flammæ traditis.

WLC ⁵ וְשָׂרַ֥ף אֶת־ הַפָּרָ֖ה לְעֵינָ֑יו אֶת־ עֹרָ֤הּ וְאֶת־ בְּשָׂרָהּ֙ וְאֶת־ דָּמָ֔הּ עַל־ פִּרְשָׁ֖הּ יִשְׂרֹֽף׃

KJV ⁶ And the priest shall take cedar wood, and hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer.

KJV ⁷ Then the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the even.

MAR ⁷ Puis le Sacrificateur lavera ses vêtements et sa chair avec de l'eau, et après cela il rentrera au camp ; et le Sacrificateur sera souillé jusqu'au soir.

VULC ⁷ Et tunc demum, lotis vestibus et corpore suo, ingredietur in castra, commaculatusque erit usque ad vesperum.

KJV ⁸ And he that burneth her shall wash his clothes in water, and bathe his flesh in water, and shall be unclean until the even.

MAR ⁸ Et celui qui l'aura brûlée lavera ses vêtements avec de l'eau, il lavera aussi dans l'eau sa chair, et il sera souillé jusqu'au soir.

VULC ⁸ Sed et ille qui combusserit eam, lavabit vestimenta sua et corpus, et immundus erit usque ad vesperum.

KJV ⁹ And a man that is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer, and lay them up without the camp in a clean place, and it shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Israel for a water of separation: it is a purification for sin.

KJV ¹⁰ And he that gathereth the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: and it shall be unto the children of Israel, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among them, for a statute for ever.

KJV ¹¹ He that toucheth the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days.

KJV ¹² He shall purify himself with it on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean: but if he purify not himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean.

MAR ¹² Et il se purifiera avec cette eau-là le troisième jour, et le septième jour il sera net ; mais s'il ne se purifie pas le troisième jour, il ne sera point net au septième jour.

KJV ¹³ Whosoever toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water of separation was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him.

MAR ¹³ Quiconque aura touché le corps mort de quelque personne morte, et qui ne se sera point purifié, il a souillé le pavillon de l'Eternel ; c'est pourquoi une telle personne sera retranchée d'Israël ; car il sera souillé, parce que l'eau de séparation n'aura pas été répandue sur lui ; sa souillure [demeure donc] encore sur lui.

VULC ¹³ Omnis qui tetigerit humanæ animæ morticinum, et aspersus hac commistione non fuerit, polluet tabernaculum Domini et peribit ex Israël : quia aqua expiationis non est aspersus, immundus erit, et manebit spurcitia ejus super eum.

WLC ¹³ כָּֽל־ הַנֹּגֵ֡עַ בְּמֵ֣ת בְּנֶפֶשׁ֩ הָאָדָ֨ם אֲשֶׁר־ יָמ֜וּת וְלֹ֣א יִתְחַטָּ֗א אֶת־ מִשְׁכַּ֤ן יְהוָה֙ טִמֵּ֔א וְנִכְרְתָ֛ה הַנֶּ֥פֶשׁ הַהִ֖וא מִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֑ל כִּי֩ מֵ֨י נִדָּ֜ה לֹא־ זֹרַ֤ק עָלָיו֙ טָמֵ֣א יִהְיֶ֔ה ע֖וֹד טֻמְאָת֥וֹ בֽוֹ׃

KJV ¹⁴ This is the law, when a man dieth in a tent: all that come into the tent, and all that is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days.

KJV ¹⁵ And every open vessel, which hath no covering bound upon it, is unclean.

KJV ¹⁶ And whosoever toucheth one that is slain with a sword in the open fields, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.

KJV ¹⁷ And for an unclean person they shall take of the ashes of the burnt heifer of purification for sin, and running water shall be put thereto in a vessel:

MAR ¹⁷ Et on prendra pour celui qui sera souillé, de la poudre de la jeune vache brûlée pour faire la purification, et on la mettra dans un vaisseau, avec de l'eau vive par-dessus.

KJV ¹⁸ And a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched a bone, or one slain, or one dead, or a grave:

MAR ¹⁸ Puis un homme net prendra de l'hysope, et l'ayant trempée dans l'eau, il en fera aspersion sur la tente, et sur tous les vaisseaux, et sur toutes les personnes qui auront été là, et sur celui qui aura touché l'os ou l'homme tué, ou le mort, ou le sépulcre.

VULC ¹⁸ in quibus cum homo mundus tinxerit hyssopum, asperget ex eo omne tentorium, et cunctam supellectilem, et homines hujuscemodi contagione pollutos :

WLC ¹⁸ וְלָקַ֨ח אֵז֜וֹב וְטָבַ֣ל בַּמַּיִם֮ אִ֣ישׁ טָהוֹר֒ וְהִזָּ֤ה עַל־ הָאֹ֙הֶל֙ וְעַל־ כָּל־ הַכֵּלִ֔ים וְעַל־ הַנְּפָשׁ֖וֹת אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָֽיוּ־ שָׁ֑ם וְעַל־ הַנֹּגֵ֗עַ בַּעֶ֙צֶם֙ א֣וֹ בֶֽחָלָ֔ל א֥וֹ בַמֵּ֖ת א֥וֹ בַקָּֽבֶר׃

KJV ¹⁹ And the clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day: and on the seventh day he shall purify himself, and wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at even.

MAR ¹⁹ Un homme donc qui sera net, en fera aspersion le troisième jour et le septième sur celui qui sera souillé, et le purifiera le septième jour ; puis il lavera ses vêtements, et se lavera avec de l'eau, et il sera net au soir.

VULC ¹⁹ atque hoc modo mundus lustrabit immundum tertio et septimo die : expiatusque die septimo, lavabit et se et vestimenta sua, et immundus erit usque ad vesperum.

WLC ¹⁹ וְהִזָּ֤ה הַטָּהֹר֙ עַל־ הַטָּמֵ֔א בַּיּ֥וֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֖י וּבַיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֑י וְחִטְּאוֹ֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י וְכִבֶּ֧ס בְּגָדָ֛יו וְרָחַ֥ץ בַּמַּ֖יִם וְטָהֵ֥ר בָּעָֽרֶב׃

KJV ²⁰ But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from among the congregation, because he hath defiled the sanctuary of the LORD: the water of separation hath not been sprinkled upon him; he is unclean.

MAR ²⁰ Mais l'homme qui sera souillé, et qui ne se purifiera point, cet homme sera retranché du milieu de l'assemblée, parce qu'il aura souillé le Sanctuaire de l'Eternel ; et l'eau de séparation n'ayant pas été répandue sur lui, il est souillé.

VULC ²⁰ Si quis hoc ritu non fuerit expiatus, peribit anima illius de medio ecclesiæ : quia sanctuarium Domini polluit, et non est aqua lustrationis aspersus.

WLC ²⁰ וְאִ֤ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־ יִטְמָא֙ וְלֹ֣א יִתְחַטָּ֔א וְנִכְרְתָ֛ה הַנֶּ֥פֶשׁ הַהִ֖וא מִתּ֣וֹךְ הַקָּהָ֑ל כִּי֩ אֶת־ מִקְדַּ֨שׁ יְהוָ֜ה טִמֵּ֗א מֵ֥י נִדָּ֛ה לֹא־ זֹרַ֥ק עָלָ֖יו טָמֵ֥א הֽוּא׃

KJV ²¹ And it shall be a perpetual statute unto them, that he that sprinkleth the water of separation shall wash his clothes; and he that toucheth the water of separation shall be unclean until even.

MAR ²¹ Et ceci leur sera une ordonnance perpétuelle ; et celui qui aura fait aspersion de l'eau de séparation, lavera ses vêtements ; et quiconque aura touché l'eau de séparation, sera souillé jusqu'au soir.

VULC ²¹ Erit hoc præceptum legitimum sempiternum. Ipse quoque qui aspergit aquas, lavabit vestimenta sua. Omnis qui tetigerit aquas expiationis, immundus erit usque ad vesperum.

WLC ²¹ וְהָיְתָ֥ה לָּהֶ֖ם לְחֻקַּ֣ת עוֹלָ֑ם וּמַזֵּ֤ה מֵֽי־ הַנִּדָּה֙ יְכַבֵּ֣ס בְּגָדָ֔יו וְהַנֹּגֵ֙עַ֙ בְּמֵ֣י הַנִּדָּ֔ה יִטְמָ֖א עַד־ הָעָֽרֶב׃

KJV ²² And whatsoever the unclean person toucheth shall be unclean; and the soul that toucheth it shall be unclean until even.

MAR ²² Et tout ce que l'homme souillé touchera, sera souillé ; et la personne qui le touchera, sera souillée jusqu'au soir.

VULC ²² Quidquid tetigerit immundus, immundum faciet : et anima, quæ horum quippiam tetigerit, immunda erit usque ad vesperum.

WLC ²² וְכֹ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־ יִגַּע־ בּ֥וֹ הַטָּמֵ֖א יִטְמָ֑א וְהַנֶּ֥פֶשׁ הַנֹּגַ֖עַת תִּטְמָ֥א עַד־ הָעָֽרֶב׃

KJV ¹ Then came the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, into the desert of Zin in the first month: and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there.

MAR ¹ Or les enfants d'Israël, [savoir] toute l'assemblée, arrivèrent au désert de Tsin au premier mois ; et le peuple demeura à Kadès, et Marie mourut là, et y fut ensevelie.

VULC ¹ Veneruntque filii Israël et omnis multitudo in desertum Sin, mense primo, et mansit populus in Cades. Mortuaque est ibi Maria, et sepulta in eodem loco.

WLC ¹ וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ בְנֵֽי־ יִ֠שְׂרָאֵל כָּל־ הָ֨עֵדָ֤ה מִדְבַּר־ צִן֙ בַּחֹ֣דֶשׁ הָֽרִאשׁ֔וֹן וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב הָעָ֖ם בְּקָדֵ֑שׁ וַתָּ֤מָת שָׁם֙ מִרְיָ֔ם וַתִּקָּבֵ֖ר שָֽׁם׃

KJV ² And there was no water for the congregation: and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.

MAR ² Et n'y ayant point d'eau pour l'assemblée, ils s'attroupèrent contre Moïse, et contre Aaron.

VULC ² Cumque indigeret aqua populus, convenerunt adversum Moysen et Aaron :

WLC ² וְלֹא־ הָ֥יָה מַ֖יִם לָעֵדָ֑ה וַיִּקָּ֣הֲל֔וּ עַל־ מֹשֶׁ֖ה וְעַֽל־ אַהֲרֹֽן׃

KJV ³ And the people chode with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God that we had died when our brethren died before the LORD!

MAR ³ Et le peuple disputa contre Moïse, et ils lui dirent : Plût à Dieu que nous fussions morts quand nos frères moururent devant l'Eternel ?

VULC ³ et versi in seditionem, dixerunt : Utinam periissemus inter fratres nostros coram Domino.

WLC ³ וַיָּ֥רֶב הָעָ֖ם עִם־ מֹשֶׁ֑ה וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ לֵאמֹ֔ר וְל֥וּ גָוַ֛עְנוּ בִּגְוַ֥ע אַחֵ֖ינוּ לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ⁴ And why have ye brought up the congregation of the LORD into this wilderness, that we and our cattle should die there?

MAR ⁴ Et pourquoi avez-vous fait venir l'assemblée de l'Eternel dans ce désert, pour y mourir, nous et nos bêtes ?

VULC ⁴ Cur eduxistis ecclesiam Domini in solitudinem, ut et nos et nostra jumenta moriamur ?

WLC ⁴ וְלָמָ֤ה הֲבֵאתֶם֙ אֶת־ קְהַ֣ל יְהוָ֔ה אֶל־ הַמִּדְבָּ֖ר הַזֶּ֑ה לָמ֣וּת שָׁ֔ם אֲנַ֖חְנוּ וּבְעִירֵֽנוּ׃

KJV ⁵ And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.

MAR ⁵ Et pourquoi nous avez-vous fait monter d'Egypte, pour nous amener en ce méchant lieu, qui n'est point un lieu pour semer, ni un lieu pour des figuiers, ni pour des vignes, ni pour des grenadiers ; et où même il n'y a point d'eau pour boire ?

VULC ⁵ quare nos fecistis ascendere de Ægypto, et adduxistis in locum istum pessimum, qui seri non potest, qui nec ficum gignit, nec vineas, nec malogranata, insuper et aquam non habet ad bibendum ?

WLC ⁵ וְלָמָ֤ה הֶֽעֱלִיתֻ֙נוּ֙ מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם לְהָבִ֣יא אֹתָ֔נוּ אֶל־ הַמָּק֥וֹם הָרָ֖ע הַזֶּ֑ה לֹ֣א ׀ מְק֣וֹם זֶ֗רַע וּתְאֵנָ֤ה וְגֶ֙פֶן֙ וְרִמּ֔וֹן וּמַ֥יִם אַ֖יִן לִשְׁתּֽוֹת׃

KJV ⁶ And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them.

MAR ⁶ Alors Moïse et Aaron se retirèrent de devant l'assemblée à l'entrée du Tabernacle d'assignation, et tombèrent sur leurs faces, et la gloire de l'Eternel apparut.

VULC ⁶ Ingressusque Moyses et Aaron, dimissa multitudine, tabernaculum fœderis, corruerunt proni in terram, clamaveruntque ad Dominum, atque dixerunt : Domine Deus, audi clamorem hujus populi, et aperi eis thesaurum tuum fontem aquæ vivæ, ut satiati, cesset murmuratio eorum. Et apparuit gloria Domini super eos.

WLC ⁶ וַיָּבֹא֩ מֹשֶׁ֨ה וְאַהֲרֹ֜ן מִפְּנֵ֣י הַקָּהָ֗ל אֶל־ פֶּ֙תַח֙ אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד וַֽיִּפְּל֖וּ עַל־ פְּנֵיהֶ֑ם וַיֵּרָ֥א כְבוֹד־ יְהוָ֖ה אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃

KJV ⁷ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

MAR ⁷ Puis l'Eternel parla à Moïse, en disant :

VULC ⁷ Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen, dicens :

WLC ⁷ וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃

KJV ⁸ Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.

MAR ⁸ Prends la verge, et convoque l'assemblée, toi et Aaron ton frère, et parlez en leur présence au rocher, et il donnera son eau ; ainsi tu leur feras sortir de l'eau du rocher, et tu donneras à boire à l'assemblée et à leurs bêtes.

VULC ⁸ Tolle virgam, et congrega populum, tu et Aaron frater tuus, et loquimini ad petram coram eis, et illa dabit aquas. Cumque eduxeris aquam de petra, bibet omnis multitudo et jumenta ejus.

WLC ⁸ קַ֣ח אֶת־ הַמַּטֶּ֗ה וְהַקְהֵ֤ל אֶת־ הָעֵדָה֙ אַתָּה֙ וְאַהֲרֹ֣ן אָחִ֔יךָ וְדִבַּרְתֶּ֧ם אֶל־ הַסֶּ֛לַע לְעֵינֵיהֶ֖ם וְנָתַ֣ן מֵימָ֑יו וְהוֹצֵאתָ֨ לָהֶ֥ם מַ֙יִם֙ מִן־ הַסֶּ֔לַע וְהִשְׁקִיתָ֥ אֶת־ הָעֵדָ֖ה וְאֶת־ בְּעִירָֽם׃

KJV ⁹ And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.

MAR ⁹ Moïse donc prit la verge de devant l'Eternel, comme il lui avait commandé.

VULC ⁹ Tulit igitur Moyses virgam, quæ erat in conspectu Domini, sicut præceperat ei,

WLC ⁹ וַיִּקַּ֥ח מֹשֶׁ֛ה אֶת־ הַמַּטֶּ֖ה מִלִּפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר צִוָּֽהוּ׃

KJV ¹⁰ And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?

MAR ¹⁰ Et Moïse et Aaron convoquèrent l'assemblée devant le rocher, et il leur dit : Vous rebelles, écoutez maintenant, vous ferons-nous sortir de l'eau de ce rocher ?

VULC ¹⁰ congregata multitudine ante petram : dixitque eis : Audite, rebelles et increduli : num de petra hac vobis aquam poterimus ejicere ?

WLC ¹⁰ וַיַּקְהִ֜לוּ מֹשֶׁ֧ה וְאַהֲרֹ֛ן אֶת־ הַקָּהָ֖ל אֶל־ פְּנֵ֣י הַסָּ֑לַע וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לָהֶ֗ם שִׁמְעוּ־ נָא֙ הַמֹּרִ֔ים הֲמִן־ הַסֶּ֣לַע הַזֶּ֔ה נוֹצִ֥יא לָכֶ֖ם מָֽיִם׃

KJV ¹¹ And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.

MAR ¹¹ Puis Moïse leva sa main, et frappa de sa verge le rocher par deux fois ; et il en sortit des eaux en abondance, et l'assemblée but, et leurs bêtes aussi.

VULC ¹¹ Cumque elevasset Moyses manum, percutiens virga bis silicem, egressæ sunt aquæ largissimæ, ita ut populus biberet et jumenta.

WLC ¹¹ וַיָּ֨רֶם מֹשֶׁ֜ה אֶת־ יָד֗וֹ וַיַּ֧ךְ אֶת־ הַסֶּ֛לַע בְּמַטֵּ֖הוּ פַּעֲמָ֑יִם וַיֵּצְאוּ֙ מַ֣יִם רַבִּ֔ים וַתֵּ֥שְׁתְּ הָעֵדָ֖ה וּבְעִירָֽם׃

KJV ¹² And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

MAR ¹² Et l'Eternel dit à Moïse et à Aaron : Parce que vous n'avez point cru en moi,pour me sanctifier en la présence des enfants d'Israël, aussi vous n'introduirez point cette assemblée au pays que je leur ai donné.

VULC ¹² Dixitque Dominus ad Moysen et Aaron : Quia non credidistis mihi, ut sanctificaretis me coram filiis Israël, non introducetis hos populos in terram, quam dabo eis.

WLC ¹² וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָה֮ אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֣ה וְאֶֽל־ אַהֲרֹן֒ יַ֚עַן לֹא־ הֶאֱמַנְתֶּ֣ם בִּ֔י לְהַ֨קְדִּישֵׁ֔נִי לְעֵינֵ֖י בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל לָכֵ֗ן לֹ֤א תָבִ֙יאוּ֙ אֶת־ הַקָּהָ֣ל הַזֶּ֔ה אֶל־ הָאָ֖רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־ נָתַ֥תִּי לָהֶֽם׃

KJV ¹³ This is the water of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and he was sanctified in them.

MAR ¹³ Ce sont là les eaux de dispute, pour lesquelles les enfants d'Israël disputèrent contre l'Eternel ; et il se sanctifia en eux.

VULC ¹³ Hæc est aqua contradictionis, ubi jurgati sunt filii Israël contra Dominum, et sanctificatus est in eis.

WLC ¹³ הֵ֚מָּה מֵ֣י מְרִיבָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־ רָב֥וּ בְנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל אֶת־ יְהוָ֑ה וַיִּקָּדֵ֖שׁ בָּֽם׃
