BAN ¹ Et Balaam vit que l'Eternel trouvait bon de bénir Israël, et il n'alla point comme les autres fois à la rencontre des signes dus à la magie, et il tourna sa face vers le désert.

KJV ¹ And when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.

WLC ¹ וַיַּ֣רְא בִּלְעָ֗ם כִּ֣י ט֞וֹב בְּעֵינֵ֤י יְהוָה֙ לְבָרֵ֣ךְ אֶת־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְלֹא־ הָלַ֥ךְ כְּפַֽעַם־ בְּפַ֖עַם לִקְרַ֣את נְחָשִׁ֑ים וַיָּ֥שֶׁת אֶל־ הַמִּדְבָּ֖ר פָּנָֽיו׃

BAN ² Et Balaam leva les yeux et vit Israël campé par tribus, et l'Esprit de Dieu fut sur lui.

KJV ² And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.

WLC ² וַיִּשָּׂ֨א בִלְעָ֜ם אֶת־ עֵינָ֗יו וַיַּרְא֙ אֶת־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל שֹׁכֵ֖ן לִשְׁבָטָ֑יו וַתְּהִ֥י עָלָ֖יו ר֥וּחַ אֱלֹהִֽים׃

BAN ³ Et il prononça son discours sentencieux et dit :

Oracle de Balaam, fils de Béor,
Oracle de l'homme dont l'oeil se ferme,

KJV ³ And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:

WLC ³ וַיִּשָּׂ֥א מְשָׁל֖וֹ וַיֹּאמַ֑ר נְאֻ֤ם בִּלְעָם֙ בְּנ֣וֹ בְעֹ֔ר וּנְאֻ֥ם הַגֶּ֖בֶר שְׁתֻ֥ם הָעָֽיִן׃

BAN ⁴ Oracle de celui qui entend les paroles de Dieu,
Qui contemple la vision du Tout-Puissant,
Qui tombe et dont les yeux s'ouvrent.

KJV ⁴ He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

WLC ⁴ נְאֻ֕ם שֹׁמֵ֖עַ אִמְרֵי־ אֵ֑ל אֲשֶׁ֨ר מַחֲזֵ֤ה שַׁדַּי֙ יֶֽחֱזֶ֔ה נֹפֵ֖ל וּגְל֥וּי עֵינָֽיִם׃

BAN ⁵ Qu'elles sont belles, tes tentes, ô Jacob !
Tes demeures, ô Israël !

KJV ⁵ How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel!

WLC ⁵ מַה־ טֹּ֥בוּ אֹהָלֶ֖יךָ יַעֲקֹ֑ב מִשְׁכְּנֹתֶ֖יךָ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

BAN ⁶ Elles s'étendent comme des vallées,
Comme des jardins au bord d'un fleuve,
Comme des aloès plantés par l'Eternel,
Comme des cèdres au bord des eaux ;

KJV ⁶ As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river's side, as the trees of lign aloes which the LORD hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters.

WLC ⁶ כִּנְחָלִ֣ים נִטָּ֔יוּ כְּגַנֹּ֖ת עֲלֵ֣י נָהָ֑ר כַּאֲהָלִים֙ נָטַ֣ע יְהוָ֔ה כַּאֲרָזִ֖ים עֲלֵי־ מָֽיִם׃

BAN ⁷ L'eau déborde de ses seaux,
Et sa semence est bien arrosée.
Son roi s'élève au-dessus d'Agag,
Et son royaume est haut élevé.

KJV ⁷ He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.

WLC ⁷ יִֽזַּל־ מַ֙יִם֙ מִדָּ֣לְיָ֔ו וְזַרְע֖וֹ בְּמַ֣יִם רַבִּ֑ים וְיָרֹ֤ם מֵֽאֲגַג֙ מַלְכּ֔וֹ וְתִנַּשֵּׂ֖א מַלְכֻתֽוֹ׃

BAN ⁸ Dieu le fait sortir d'Egypte ;
Il lui donne la vigueur du buffle.
Il dévore les nations, ses oppresseurs ;
Il brise leurs os
Et écrase leurs flèches ;

KJV ⁸ God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.

WLC ⁸ אֵ֚ל מוֹצִיא֣וֹ מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם כְּתוֹעֲפֹ֥ת רְאֵ֖ם ל֑וֹ יֹאכַ֞ל גּוֹיִ֣ם צָרָ֗יו וְעַצְמֹתֵיהֶ֛ם יְגָרֵ֖ם וְחִצָּ֥יו יִמְחָֽץ׃

BAN ⁹ Il s'est couché, accroupi comme un lion,
Et comme une lionne ; qui le fera lever ?
Béni soit qui te bénira,
Maudit soit qui te maudira !

KJV ⁹ He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.

WLC ⁹ כָּרַ֨ע שָׁכַ֧ב כַּאֲרִ֛י וּכְלָבִ֖יא מִ֣י יְקִימֶ֑נּוּ מְבָרֲכֶ֣יךָ בָר֔וּךְ וְאֹרְרֶ֖יךָ אָרֽוּר׃
