KJV ⁶ Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

LSG ⁶ Instruis l'enfant selon la voie qu'il doit suivre ; Et quand il sera vieux, il ne s'en détournera pas.

KJV ⁷ The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

LSG ⁷ Le riche domine sur les pauvres, Et celui qui emprunte est l'esclave de celui qui prête.

KJV ⁸ He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.

KJV ¹⁶ He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.

KJV ²¹ That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?

LSG ²¹ Pour t'enseigner des choses sûres, des paroles vraies, Afin que tu répondes par des paroles vraies à celui qui t'envoie ?

KJV ²² Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:

LSG ²² Ne dépouille pas le pauvre, parce qu'il est pauvre, Et n'opprime pas le malheureux à la porte ;

KJV ²³ For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.

KJV ²⁷ If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?

KJV ²⁸ Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

LSG ²⁸ Ne déplace pas la borne ancienne, Que tes pères ont posée.

KJV ²⁹ Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

LSG ²⁹ Si tu vois un homme habile dans son ouvrage, Il se tient auprès des rois ; Il ne se tient pas auprès des gens obscurs.

KJV ¹ When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee:

LSG ⁴ Ne te tourmente pas pour t'enrichir, N'y applique pas ton intelligence.

KJV ⁵ Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

LSG ⁵ Veux-tu poursuivre du regard ce qui va disparaître ? Car la richesse se fait des ailes, Et comme l'aigle, elle prend son vol vers les cieux.

KJV ⁶ Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats:

KJV ¹ Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.

KJV ⁶ For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.

LSG ⁶ Car tu feras la guerre avec prudence, Et le salut est dans le grand nombre des conseillers.

KJV ⁷ Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.

KJV ⁸ He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.

LSG ⁸ Celui qui médite de faire le mal S'appelle un homme plein de malice.

KJV ⁹ The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.

LSG ⁹ La pensée de la folie n'est que péché, Et le moqueur est en abomination parmi les hommes.

KJV ¹⁰ If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.

LSG ¹⁰ Si tu faiblis au jour de la détresse, Ta force n'est que détresse.

KJV ¹¹ If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;

KJV ²¹ My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:

LSG ²¹ Mon fils, crains l'Éternel et le roi ; Ne te mêle pas avec les hommes remuants ;

KJV ²² For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?

LSG ²² Car soudain leur ruine surgira, Et qui connaît les châtiments des uns et des autres ?

KJV ²³ These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.

KJV ²⁵ But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.

LSG ²⁵ Mais ceux qui le châtient s'en trouvent bien, Et le bonheur vient sur eux comme une bénédiction.

KJV ²⁶ Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.

LSG ²⁶ Il baise les lèvres, Celui qui répond des paroles justes.

KJV ²⁷ Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.

LSG ²⁷ Soigne tes affaires au dehors, Mets ton champ en état, Puis tu bâtiras ta maison.

KJV ²⁸ Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.

LSG ²⁸ Ne témoigne pas à la légère contre ton prochain ; Voudrais-tu tromper par tes lèvres ?

KJV ²⁹ Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.

LSG ²⁹ Ne dis pas: Je lui ferai comme il m'a fait, Je rendrai à chacun selon ses oeuvres.

KJV ³⁰ I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;

LSG ³⁰ J'ai passé près du champ d'un paresseux, Et près de la vigne d'un homme dépourvu de sens.

KJV ³¹ And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.

LSG ³¹ Et voici, les épines y croissaient partout, Les ronces en couvraient la face, Et le mur de pierres était écroulé.

KJV ³² Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.

LSG ³² J'ai regardé attentivement, Et j'ai tiré instruction de ce que j'ai vu.

KJV ³³ Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

LSG ³³ Un peu de sommeil, un peu d'assoupissement, Un peu croiser les mains pour dormir !...

KJV ³⁴ So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
