WLC ¹ לַמְנַצֵּ֤חַ ׀ לְעֶ֥בֶד יְהוָ֗ה לְדָ֫וִ֥ד אֲשֶׁ֤ר דִּבֶּ֨ר ׀ לַיהוָ֗ה אֶת־ דִּ֭בְרֵי הַשִּׁירָ֣ה הַזֹּ֑את בְּי֤וֹם הִֽצִּיל־ יְהוָ֘ה אוֹת֥וֹ מִכַּ֥ף כָּל־ אֹ֝יְבָ֗יו וּמִיַּ֥ד שָׁאֽוּל׃

DRB ² Éternel, mon rocher, et mon lieu fort, et celui qui me délivre ! Mon *Dieu, mon rocher, en qui je me confie, mon bouclier et la corne de mon salut, ma haute retraite !

KJV ² The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

VULC ² [Cæli enarrant gloriam Dei,
et opera manuum ejus annuntiat firmamentum.

WLC ² וַיֹּאמַ֡ר אֶרְחָמְךָ֖ יְהוָ֣ה חִזְקִֽי׃

DRB ³ Je crierai à l'Éternel, qui est digne d'être loué, et je serai sauvé de mes ennemis.

KJV ³ I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

VULC ³ Dies diei eructat verbum,
et nox nocti indicat scientiam.

WLC ³ יְהוָ֤ה ׀ סַֽלְעִ֥י וּמְצוּדָתִ֗י וּמְפַ֫לְטִ֥י אֵלִ֣י צ֭וּרִי אֶֽחֱסֶה־ בּ֑וֹ מָֽגִנִּ֥י וְקֶֽרֶן־ יִ֝שְׁעִ֗י מִשְׂגַּבִּֽי׃

DRB ⁴ Les cordeaux de la mort m'ont environné, et les torrents de Bélial* m'ont fait peur ;

KJV ⁴ The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.

VULC ⁴ Non sunt loquelæ, neque sermones,
quorum non audiantur voces eorum.

WLC ⁴ מְ֭הֻלָּל אֶקְרָ֣א יְהוָ֑ה וּמִן־ אֹ֝יְבַ֗י אִוָּשֵֽׁעַ׃

DRB ⁵ Les cordeaux du shéol* m'ont entouré, les filets de la mort m'ont surpris :

KJV ⁵ The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.

VULC ⁵ In omnem terram exivit sonus eorum,
et in fines orbis terræ verba eorum.

WLC ⁵ אֲפָפ֥וּנִי חֶבְלֵי־ מָ֑וֶת וְֽנַחֲלֵ֖י בְלִיַּ֣עַל יְבַֽעֲתֽוּנִי׃

DRB ⁶ Dans ma détresse j'ai invoqué l'Éternel, et j'ai crié à mon Dieu : de son temple, il a entendu ma voix, et mon cri est parvenu devant lui à ses oreilles.

KJV ⁶ In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

VULC ⁶ In sole posuit tabernaculum suum ;
et ipse tamquam sponsus procedens de thalamo suo.
Exsultavit ut gigas ad currendam viam ;

WLC ⁶ חֶבְלֵ֣י שְׁא֣וֹל סְבָב֑וּנִי קִ֝דְּמ֗וּנִי מ֣וֹקְשֵׁי מָֽוֶת׃

DRB ⁷ Alors la terre fut ébranlée, et trembla, et les fondements des montagnes furent secoués et furent ébranlés, parce qu'il était irrité.

KJV ⁷ Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.

VULC ⁷ a summo cælo egressio ejus.
Et occursus ejus usque ad summum ejus ;
nec est qui se abscondat a calore ejus.

WLC ⁷ בַּצַּר־ לִ֤י ׀ אֶֽקְרָ֣א יְהוָה֮ וְאֶל־ אֱלֹהַ֪י אֲשַׁ֫וֵּ֥עַ יִשְׁמַ֣ע מֵהֵיכָל֣וֹ קוֹלִ֑י וְ֝שַׁוְעָתִ֗י לְפָנָ֤יו ׀ תָּב֬וֹא בְאָזְנָֽיו׃

DRB ⁸ Une fumée montait de ses narines, et un feu sortant de sa bouche dévorait ; des charbons en jaillissaient embrasés.

KJV ⁸ There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

VULC ⁸ Lex Domini immaculata, convertens animas ;
testimonium Domini fidele, sapientiam præstans parvulis.

WLC ⁸ וַתִּגְעַ֬שׁ וַתִּרְעַ֨שׁ ׀ הָאָ֗רֶץ וּמוֹסְדֵ֣י הָרִ֣ים יִרְגָּ֑זוּ וַ֝יִּתְגָּֽעֲשׁ֗וּ כִּי־ חָ֥רָה לֽוֹ׃

DRB ⁹ Et il abaissa les cieux, et descendit ; et il y avait une obscurité profonde sous ses pieds.

KJV ⁹ He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.

præceptum Domini lucidum, illuminans oculos.

DRB ¹⁰ Il était monté sur un chérubin, et volait, et il planait sur les ailes du vent.

KJV ¹⁰ And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.

judicia Domini vera, justificata in semetipsa,

WLC ¹⁰ וַיֵּ֣ט שָׁ֭מַיִם וַיֵּרַ֑ד וַ֝עֲרָפֶ֗ל תַּ֣חַת רַגְלָֽיו׃

DRB ¹¹ Il mit les ténèbres pour sa demeure secrète comme sa tente autour de lui, des ténèbres d'eaux, d'épaisses nuées de l'air.

KJV ¹¹ He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

VULC ¹¹ desiderabilia super aurum et lapidem pretiosum multum,
et dulciora super mel et favum.

WLC ¹¹ וַיִּרְכַּ֣ב עַל־ כְּ֭רוּב וַיָּעֹ֑ף וַ֝יֵּ֗דֶא עַל־ כַּנְפֵי־ רֽוּחַ׃

DRB ¹² De la splendeur qui était devant lui, ses nuées épaisses passaient, de la grêle et des charbons de feu.

KJV ¹² At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.

VULC ¹² Etenim servus tuus custodit ea ;
in custodiendis illis retributio multa.

WLC ¹² יָ֤שֶׁת חֹ֨שֶׁךְ ׀ סִתְר֗וֹ סְבִֽיבוֹתָ֥יו סֻכָּת֑וֹ חֶשְׁכַת־ מַ֝֗יִם עָבֵ֥י שְׁחָקִֽים׃

DRB ¹³ Et l'Éternel tonna dans les cieux, et le Très haut fit retentir sa voix, - de la grêle et des charbons de feu.

KJV ¹³ The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.

VULC ¹³ Delicta quis intelligit ?
ab occultis meis munda me ;

WLC ¹³ מִנֹּ֗גַהּ נֶ֫גְדּ֥וֹ עָבָ֥יו עָבְר֑וּ בָּ֝רָ֗ד וְגַֽחֲלֵי־ אֵֽשׁ׃

DRB ¹⁴ Et il tira ses flèches et dispersa [mes ennemis] * ; il lança des éclairs** et les mit en déroute.

KJV ¹⁴ Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.

VULC ¹⁴ et ab alienis parce servo tuo.
Si mei non fuerint dominati, tunc immaculatus ero,
et emundabor a delicto maximo.

WLC ¹⁴ וַיַּרְעֵ֬ם בַּשָּׁמַ֨יִם ׀ יְֽהוָ֗ה וְ֭עֶלְיוֹן יִתֵּ֣ן קֹל֑וֹ בָּ֝רָ֗ד וְגַֽחֲלֵי־ אֵֽשׁ׃

DRB ¹⁵ Alors les lits des eaux parurent, et les fondements du monde furent mis à découvert, quand tu les tanças, ô Éternel, par le souffle du vent de tes narines.

KJV ¹⁵ Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

VULC ¹⁵ Et erunt ut complaceant eloquia oris mei,
et meditatio cordis mei in conspectu tuo semper.
Domine, adjutor meus, et redemptor meus.]

WLC ¹⁵ וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח חִ֭צָּיו וַיְפִיצֵ֑ם וּבְרָקִ֥ים רָ֝ב וַיְהֻמֵּֽם׃

DRB ¹⁶ D'en haut il étendit [sa main], il me il prit, il me tira des grandes eaux ;

KJV ¹⁶ He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.

WLC ¹⁶ וַיֵּ֤רָא֨וּ ׀ אֲפִ֥יקֵי מַ֗יִם וַֽיִּגָּלוּ֮ מוֹסְד֪וֹת תֵּ֫בֵ֥ל מִגַּעֲרָ֣תְךָ֣ יְהוָ֑ה מִ֝נִּשְׁמַ֗ת ר֣וּחַ אַפֶּֽךָ׃

DRB ¹⁷ Il me délivra de mon puissant ennemi et de ceux qui me haïssaient ; car ils étaient plus forts que moi.

KJV ¹⁷ He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.

WLC ¹⁷ יִשְׁלַ֣ח מִ֭מָּרוֹם יִקָּחֵ֑נִי יַֽ֝מְשֵׁ֗נִי מִמַּ֥יִם רַבִּֽים׃

DRB ¹⁸ Ils m'avaient surpris au jour de ma calamité, mais l'Éternel fut mon appui.

KJV ¹⁸ They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.

WLC ¹⁸ יַצִּילֵ֗נִי מֵאֹיְבִ֥י עָ֑ז וּ֝מִשֹּׂנְאַ֗י כִּֽי־ אָמְצ֥וּ מִמֶּֽנִּי׃

DRB ¹⁹ Et il me fit sortir au large, il me délivra, parce qu'il prenait son plaisir en moi.

KJV ¹⁹ He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

WLC ¹⁹ יְקַדְּמ֥וּנִי בְיוֹם־ אֵידִ֑י וַֽיְהִי־ יְהוָ֖ה לְמִשְׁעָ֣ן לִֽי׃
