DRB ⁶ le manque de sens est placé dans de hautes dignités, et les riches sont assis dans une position basse.

KJV ¹⁰ Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.

DRB ³ au jour où tremblent les gardiens de la maison, et où se courbent les hommes forts, et où chôment celles qui moulent, parce qu'elles sont en petit nombre, et où ceux qui regardent par les fenêtres sont obscurcis,

KJV ³ In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened,

DRB ⁴ et où les deux battants de la porte se ferment sur la rue ; quand baisse le bruit de la meule, et qu'on se lève à la voix de l'oiseau, et que toutes les filles du chant faiblissent ;

KJV ⁴ And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low;

WLC ⁴ וְסֻגְּר֤וּ דְלָתַ֙יִם֙ בַּשּׁ֔וּק בִּשְׁפַ֖ל ק֣וֹל הַֽטַּחֲנָ֑ה וְיָקוּם֙ לְק֣וֹל הַצִּפּ֔וֹר וְיִשַּׁ֖חוּ כָּל־ בְּנ֥וֹת הַשִּֽׁיר׃

DRB ⁵ quand aussi on craint ce qui est haut, et qu'on a peur sur le chemin, et quand l'amandier fleurit*, et que la sauterelle devient pesante, et que la câpre est sans effet** ; (car l'homme s'en va dans sa demeure des siècles, et ceux qui mènent deuil parcourent les rues ;)

KJV ⁵ Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:

DRB ⁶ - avant que le câble d'argent se détache, que le vase d'or se rompe, que le seau se brise à la source, et que la roue se casse à la citerne ;

KJV ⁶ Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.

WLC ⁶ עַ֣ד אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא־ חֶ֣בֶל הַכֶּ֔סֶף וְתָרֻ֖ץ גֻּלַּ֣ת הַזָּהָ֑ב וְתִשָּׁ֤בֶר כַּד֙ עַל־ הַמַּבּ֔וּעַ וְנָרֹ֥ץ הַגַּלְגַּ֖ל אֶל־ הַבּֽוֹר׃

DRB ⁷ et que la poussière retourne à la terre, comme elle y avait été, et que l'esprit retourne à Dieu qui l'a donné.

KJV ⁷ Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

KJV ¹⁰ The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.

WLC ¹⁰ בִּקֵּ֣שׁ קֹהֶ֔לֶת לִמְצֹ֖א דִּבְרֵי־ חֵ֑פֶץ וְכָת֥וּב יֹ֖שֶׁר דִּבְרֵ֥י אֱמֶֽת׃

DRB ¹¹ Les paroles des sages sont comme des aiguillons, et les recueils*, comme des clous enfoncés : ils sont donnés par un seul pasteur.

KJV ¹¹ The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.

WLC ¹¹ דִּבְרֵ֤י חֲכָמִים֙ כַּדָּ֣רְבֹנ֔וֹת וּֽכְמַשְׂמְר֥וֹת נְטוּעִ֖ים בַּעֲלֵ֣י אֲסֻפּ֑וֹת נִתְּנ֖וּ מֵרֹעֶ֥ה אֶחָֽד׃

DRB ¹² Et de plus, mon fils, laisse-toi instruire par eux : à faire beaucoup de livres, il n'y a point de fin, et beaucoup d'étude lasse la chair.

KJV ¹² And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

DRB ¹³ Écoutons la fin de tout ce qui a été dit : Crains Dieu, et garde ses commandements ; car c'est là le tout de l'homme,

KJV ¹³ Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

DRB ¹⁴ car Dieu amènera toute œuvre en jugement, avec tout ce qui est caché, soit bien, soit mal.

KJV ¹⁴ For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
