BAN ¹ Et le peuple, voyant que Moïse tardait à descendre de la montagne, s'assembla autour d'Aaron, et ils lui dirent : Allons ! Fais-nous un dieu qui marche devant nous ; car celui-là, Moïse, l'homme, qui nous a fait sortir du pays d'Egypte, nous ne savons ce qu'il est devenu.

KJV ¹ And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

BAN ² Et Aaron leur dit : Arrachez les boucles d'or qui sont aux oreilles de vos femmes, de vos fils et de vos filles, et apportez-les moi.

BAN ³ Et tout le monde arracha les boucles d'or qu'ils avaient aux oreilles et ils les apportèrent à Aaron.

BAN ⁴ Celui-ci reçut d'eux cet or, le travailla au burin et en fit un veau de métal. Et ils dirent : C'est ici ton Dieu, Israël, qui t'a fait sortir du pays d'Egypte !

KJV ⁴ And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

BAN ⁵ Aaron, voyant cela, construisit un autel devant le veau ; puis Aaron s'écria et dit : Demain il y aura fête à l'honneur de l'Eternel !

KJV ⁵ And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD.

BAN ⁶ Et le lendemain ils s'empressèrent d'offrir des holocaustes et de faire des sacrifices d'actions de grâces. Et le peuple s'assit pour manger et boire, puis on se leva pour se divertir.

KJV ⁶ And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

BAN ⁷ Et l'Eternel dit à Moïse : Va, descends, car ton peuple, que tu as fait sortir d'Egypte, se conduit mal !

BAN ⁸ Ils ont bien vite quitté la voie que je leur avais prescrite. Ils se sont fait un veau de métal, se sont prosternés devant lui et lui ont sacrifié, et ils ont dit : C'est ici ton Dieu, Israël, qui t'a fait sortir du pays d'Egypte !
