DRB ³ Et il arriva, au bout de quelque temps, que Caïn apporta, du fruit du sol, une offrande à l'Éternel.

KJV ³ And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

LSG ³ Au bout de quelque temps, Caïn fit à l'Éternel une offrande des fruits de la terre ;

VULC ³ Factum est autem post multos dies ut offerret Cain de fructibus terræ munera Domino.

WLC ³ וַֽיְהִ֖י מִקֵּ֣ץ יָמִ֑ים וַיָּבֵ֨א קַ֜יִן מִפְּרִ֧י הָֽאֲדָמָ֛ה מִנְחָ֖ה לַֽיהוָֽה׃

DRB ⁴ Et Abel apporta, lui aussi, des premiers-nés de son troupeau, et de leur graisse. Et l'Éternel eut égard à Abel et à son offrande ;

KJV ⁴ And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

LSG ⁴ et Abel, de son côté, en fit une des premiers-nés de son troupeau et de leur graisse. L'Éternel porta un regard favorable sur Abel et sur son offrande ;

VULC ⁴ Abel quoque obtulit de primogenitis gregis sui, et de adipibus eorum : et respexit Dominus ad Abel, et ad munera ejus.

WLC ⁴ וְהֶ֨בֶל הֵבִ֥יא גַם־ ה֛וּא מִבְּכֹר֥וֹת צֹאנ֖וֹ וּמֵֽחֶלְבֵהֶ֑ן וַיִּ֣שַׁע יְהוָ֔ה אֶל־ הֶ֖בֶל וְאֶל־ מִנְחָתֽוֹ׃

DRB ⁵ mais à Caïn et à son offrande, il n'eut pas égard. Et Caïn fut très irrité, et son visage fut abattu.

KJV ⁵ But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

VULC ⁵ Ad Cain vero, et ad munera illius non respexit : iratusque est Cain vehementer, et concidit vultus ejus.

WLC ⁵ וְאֶל־ קַ֥יִן וְאֶל־ מִנְחָת֖וֹ לֹ֣א שָׁעָ֑ה וַיִּ֤חַר לְקַ֙יִן֙ מְאֹ֔ד וַֽיִּפְּל֖וּ פָּנָֽיו׃

DRB ⁶ Et l'Éternel dit à Caïn : Pourquoi es-tu irrité, et pourquoi ton visage est-il abattu ?

KJV ⁶ And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

VULC ⁶ Dixitque Dominus ad eum : Quare iratus es ? et cur concidit facies tua ?

WLC ⁶ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־ קָ֑יִן לָ֚מָּה חָ֣רָה לָ֔ךְ וְלָ֖מָּה נָפְל֥וּ פָנֶֽיךָ׃

DRB ⁷ Si tu fais bien, ne seras-tu pas agréé ?* Et si tu ne fais pas bien, le péché** est couché à la porte. Et son désir sera [tourné] vers toi, et toi tu domineras sur lui.

KJV ⁷ If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

LSG ⁷ Certainement, si tu agis bien, tu relèveras ton visage, et si tu agis mal, le péché se couche à la porte, et ses désirs se portent vers toi: mais toi, domine sur lui.

VULC ⁷ nonne si bene egeris, recipies : sin autem male, statim in foribus peccatum aderit ? sed sub te erit appetitus ejus, et tu dominaberis illius.

WLC ⁷ הֲל֤וֹא אִם־ תֵּיטִיב֙ שְׂאֵ֔ת וְאִם֙ לֹ֣א תֵיטִ֔יב לַפֶּ֖תַח חַטָּ֣את רֹבֵ֑ץ וְאֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ תְּשׁ֣וּקָת֔וֹ וְאַתָּ֖ה תִּמְשָׁל־ בּֽוֹ׃

DRB ⁸ Et Caïn parla à Abel son frère ; et il arriva, comme ils étaient aux champs, que Caïn se leva contre Abel, son frère, et le tua.

KJV ⁸ And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

LSG ⁸ Cependant, Caïn adressa la parole à son frère Abel ; mais, comme ils étaient dans les champs, Caïn se jeta sur son frère Abel, et le tua.

VULC ⁸ Dixitque Cain ad Abel fratrem suum : Egrediamur foras. Cumque essent in agro, consurrexit Cain adversus fratrem suum Abel, et interfecit eum.
