KJV ¹ Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,

KJV ² Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word;

KJV ³ It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,

KJV ⁴ That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.

MAR ⁴ Afin que tu connaisses la certitude des choses dont tu as été informé.

KJV ⁵ THERE was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.

MAR ⁵ Au temps d'Hérode Roi de Judée, il y avait un certain Sacrificateur nommé Zacharie, du rang d'Abia ; et sa femme [était] des filles d'Aaron, et son nom était Elisabeth.

KJV ⁶ And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

MAR ⁶ Et ils étaient tous deux justes devant Dieu, marchant dans tous les commandements, et dans [toutes] les ordonnances du Seigneur, sans reproche.

KJV ⁷ And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years.

MAR ⁷ Et ils n'avaient point d'enfants, à cause qu'Elisabeth était stérile ; et qu'ils étaient fort avancés en âge.

KJV ⁸ And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course,

MAR ⁸ Or il arriva que comme Zacharie exerçait la sacrificature devant le Seigneur, à son tour ;

KJV ⁹ According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.

MAR ⁹ Selon la coutume d'exercer la sacrificature, le sort lui échut d'offrir le parfum et d'entrer [pour cet effet] dans le Temple du Seigneur.

KJV ¹⁰ And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.

MAR ¹⁰ Et toute la multitude du peuple était dehors en prières, à l'heure qu'on offrait le parfum.

KJV ¹¹ And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

MAR ¹¹ Et l'Ange du Seigneur lui apparut, se tenant au côté droit de l'autel du parfum.

KJV ¹² And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.

MAR ¹² Et Zacharie fut troublé quand il le vit, et il fut saisi de crainte.

KJV ¹³ But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

MAR ¹³ Mais l'Ange lui dit : Zacharie, ne crains point ; car ta prière est exaucée, et Elisabeth ta femme enfantera un fils, et tu appelleras son nom Jean.

KJV ¹⁴ And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.

MAR ¹⁴ Et tu en auras une grande joie, et plusieurs se réjouiront de sa naissance.

KJV ¹⁵ For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.

MAR ¹⁵ Car il sera grand devant le Seigneur, et il ne boira ni vin ni cervoise ; et il sera rempli du Saint-Esprit dès le ventre de sa mère.

KJV ¹⁶ And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.

MAR ¹⁶ Et il convertira plusieurs des enfants d'Israël au Seigneur leur Dieu.

KJV ¹⁷ And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

MAR ¹⁷ Car il ira devant lui animé de l'esprit et de la vertu d'Elie, afin qu'il ramène les coeurs des pères dans les enfants, et les rebelles à la prudence des justes, pour préparer au Seigneur un peuple bien disposé.

KJV ¹⁸ And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.

MAR ¹⁸ Alors Zacharie dit à l'Ange : comment connaîtrai-je cela ? car je suis vieux, et ma femme est fort âgée.

KJV ¹⁹ And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.

MAR ¹⁹ Et l'Ange répondant lui dit : Je suis Gabriel qui me tiens devant Dieu, et qui ai été envoyé pour te parler, et pour t'annoncer ces bonnes nouvelles.

KJV ²⁰ And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

MAR ²⁰ Et voici, tu seras sans parler, et tu ne pourras point parler jusqu'au jour que ces choses arriveront ; parce que tu n'as point cru à mes paroles qui s'accompliront en leur temps.

KJV ²¹ And the people waited for Zacharias, and marvelled that he tarried so long in the temple.

MAR ²¹ Or le peuple attendait Zacharie, et on s'étonnait de ce qu'il tardait tant dans le Temple.

KJV ²² And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he beckoned unto them, and remained speechless.

MAR ²² Mais quand il fut sorti, il ne pouvait pas leur parler, et ils connurent qu'il avait vu quelque vision dans le Temple ; Car il le leur donnait à entendre par des signes ; et il demeura muet.

KJV ²³ And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house.

MAR ²³ Et il arriva que quand les jours de son ministère furent achevés, il retourna en sa maison.

KJV ²⁴ And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying,

MAR ²⁴ Et après ces jours-là, Elisabeth sa femme conçut, et elle se cacha l'espace de cinq mois, en disant :

KJV ²⁵ Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.

MAR ²⁵ Certes, le Seigneur en a agi avec moi ainsi aux jours qu'il m'a regardée pour ôter mon opprobre d'entre les hommes.

KJV ²⁶ And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

MAR ²⁶ Or au sixième mois, l'Ange Gabriel fut envoyé de Dieu dans une ville de Galilée, appelée Nazareth ;

KJV ²⁷ To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

MAR ²⁷ Vers une Vierge fiancée à un homme nommé Joseph, qui était de la maison de David ; et le nom de la Vierge était Marie.

KJV ²⁸ And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

MAR ²⁸ Et l'Ange étant entré dans le lieu où elle était, lui dit : je te salue, [ô toi qui es] reçue en grâce ; le Seigneur est avec toi ; tu es bénie entre les femmes.

KJV ²⁹ And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

MAR ²⁹ Et quand elle l'eut vu, elle fut fort troublée à cause de ses paroles ; et elle considérait en elle-même quelle était cette salutation.

KJV ³⁰ And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

MAR ³⁰ Et l'Ange lui dit : Marie, ne crains point ; car tu as trouvé grâce devant Dieu.

KJV ³¹ And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

MAR ³¹ Et voici, tu concevras en ton ventre, et tu enfanteras un fils, et tu appelleras son nom JESUS.

KJV ³² He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

MAR ³² Il sera grand, et sera appelé le Fils du Souverain, et le Seigneur Dieu lui donnera le trône de David son père.

KJV ³³ And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

MAR ³³ Et il régnera sur la maison de Jacob éternellement, et il n'y aura point de fin à son règne.

KJV ³⁴ Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

MAR ³⁴ Alors Marie dit à l'Ange : comment arrivera ceci, vu que je ne connais point d'homme ?

KJV ³⁵ And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

MAR ³⁵ Et l'Ange répondant lui dit : le Saint-Esprit surviendra en toi, et la vertu du Souverain t'enombrera ; c'est pourquoi ce qui naîtra [de toi] Saint, sera appelé le Fils de Dieu.

KJV ³⁶ And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

MAR ³⁶ Et voici, Elizabeth, ta cousine, a aussi conçu un fils en sa vieillesse ; et c'est ici le sixième mois de la grossesse de celle qui était appelée stérile.

KJV ³⁷ For with God nothing shall be impossible.

MAR ³⁷ Car rien ne sera impossible à Dieu.

KJV ³⁸ And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

MAR ³⁸ Et Marie dit : voici la servante du Seigneur ; qu'il me soit fait selon ta parole ! Et l'Ange se retira d'avec elle.

KJV ³⁹ And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;

MAR ³⁹ Or en ces jours-là Marie se leva, et s'en alla en hâte au pays des montagnes dans une ville de Juda.

KJV ⁴⁰ And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.

MAR ⁴⁰ Et elle entra dans la maison de Zacharie, et salua Elisabeth.

KJV ⁴¹ And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

MAR ⁴¹ Et il arriva qu'aussitôt qu'Elisabeth eut entendu ta salutation de Marie, le petit enfant tressaillit en son ventre, et Elisabeth fut remplie du Saint-Esprit.

KJV ⁴² And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

MAR ⁴² Et elle s'écria à haute voix, et dit : tu es bénie entre les femmes, et béni [est] le fruit de ton ventre.

KJV ⁴³ And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

MAR ⁴³ Et d'où me vient ceci, que la mère de mon Seigneur vienne vers moi ?

KJV ⁴⁴ For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

MAR ⁴⁴ Car voici, dès que la voix de ta salutation est parvenue à mes oreilles, le petit enfant a tressailli de joie en mon ventre.

KJV ⁴⁵ And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

MAR ⁴⁵ Or bienheureuse est celle qui a cru : car les choses qui lui ont été dites par le Seigneur, auront [leur] accomplissement.

KJV ⁴⁶ And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

MAR ⁴⁶ Alors Marie dit : Mon âme magnifie le Seigneur ;

KJV ⁴⁷ And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

MAR ⁴⁷ Et mon esprit s'est égayé en Dieu, qui est mon Sauveur.

KJV ⁴⁸ For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

MAR ⁴⁸ Car il a regardé la bassesse de sa servante ; voici, certes désormais tous les âges me diront bienheureuse.

KJV ⁴⁹ For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.

MAR ⁴⁹ Car le Puissant m'a fait de grandes choses, et son Nom est Saint.

KJV ⁵⁰ And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.

MAR ⁵⁰ Et sa miséricorde est de génération en génération en faveur de ceux qui le craignent.

KJV ⁵¹ He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

MAR ⁵¹ Il a puissamment opéré par son bras ; il a dissipé les desseins que les orgueilleux formaient dans leurs cœurs.

KJV ⁵² He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.

MAR ⁵² Il a renversé de dessus leurs trônes les puissants, et il a élevé les petits.

KJV ⁵³ He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.

MAR ⁵³ Il a rempli de biens ceux qui avaient faim ; il a renvoyé les riches vides.

KJV ⁵⁴ He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;

MAR ⁵⁴ Il a pris en sa protection Israël, son serviteur, pour se souvenir de sa miséricorde ;

KJV ⁵⁵ As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.

MAR ⁵⁵ ( Selon qu'il [en] a parlé à nos pères, [savoir] à Abraham et à sa postérité) à jamais.

KJV ⁵⁶ And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house.

MAR ⁵⁶ Et Marie demeura avec elle environ trois mois, puis elle s'en retourna en sa maison.

KJV ⁵⁷ Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.

MAR ⁵⁷ Or le terme d'Elisabeth fut accompli pour accoucher ; et elle mit au monde un fils.

KJV ⁵⁸ And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.

MAR ⁵⁸ Et ses voisins, et ses parents ayant appris que le Seigneur avait fait éclater sa miséricorde envers elle, s'en réjouissaient avec elle.

KJV ⁵⁹ And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.

MAR ⁵⁹ Et il arriva qu'au huitième jour ils vinrent pour circoncire le petit enfant, et ils l'appelaient Zacharie, du nom de son père.

KJV ⁶⁰ And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.

MAR ⁶⁰ Mais sa mère prit la parole, et dit : Non, mais il sera nommé Jean.

KJV ⁶¹ And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.

MAR ⁶¹ Et ils lui dirent : il n'y a personne en ta parenté gui soit appelé de ce nom.

KJV ⁶² And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.

MAR ⁶² Alors ils firent signe à son père, qu'il déclarât comment il voulait qu'il fût nommé.

KJV ⁶³ And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.

MAR ⁶³ Et [Zacharie] ayant demandé des tablettes, écrivit : Jean est son nom ; et tous en furent étonnés.

KJV ⁶⁴ And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, and praised God.

MAR ⁶⁴ Et à l'instant sa bouche fut ouverte, et sa langue [déliée], tellement qu'il parlait en louant Dieu.

KJV ⁶⁵ And fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judaea.

MAR ⁶⁵ Et tous ses voisins en furent saisis de crainte ; et toutes ces choses furent divulguées dans tout le pays des montagnes de Judée.

KJV ⁶⁶ And all they that heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child shall this be! And the hand of the Lord was with him.

MAR ⁶⁶ Et tous ceux qui les entendirent les mirent en leur coeur, disant : que sera-ce de ce petit enfant ? et la main du Seigneur était avec lui.

KJV ⁶⁷ And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,

MAR ⁶⁷ Alors Zacharie son père fut rempli du Saint-Esprit, et il prophétisa, disant :

KJV ⁶⁸ Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,

MAR ⁶⁸ Béni soit le Seigneur, le Dieu d'Israël, de ce qu'il a visité et délivré son peuple ;

KJV ⁶⁹ And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;

MAR ⁶⁹ Et de ce qu'il nous a suscité un puissant Sauveur dans la maison de David, son serviteur.

KJV ⁷⁰ As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:

MAR ⁷⁰ Selon ce qu'il avait dit par la bouche de ses saints Prophètes, qui ont été de tout temps ;

KJV ⁷¹ That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;

MAR ⁷¹ [Que] nous serions sauvés [de la main] de nos ennemis, et de la main de tous ceux qui nous haïssent ;

KJV ⁷² To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;

MAR ⁷² Pour exercer sa miséricorde envers nos pères, et pour avoir mémoire de sa sainte alliance ;

KJV ⁷³ The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,

MAR ⁷³ [Qui est] le serment qu'il a fait à Abraham notre père ;

KJV ⁷⁴ That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,

MAR ⁷⁴ [Savoir], qu'il nous accorderait, qu'étant délivrés de la main de nos ennemis, nous le servirions sans crainte.

KJV ⁷⁵ In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

MAR ⁷⁵ En sainteté et en justice devant lui, tous les jours de notre vie.

KJV ⁷⁶ And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;

MAR ⁷⁶ Et toi, petit enfant, tu seras appelé le Prophète du Souverain ; car tu iras devant la face du Seigneur, pour préparer ses voies ;

KJV ⁷⁷ To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,

MAR ⁷⁷ Et pour donner la connaissance du salut à son peuple, dans la rémission de leurs péchés ;

KJV ⁷⁸ Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,

MAR ⁷⁸ Par les entrailles de la miséricorde de notre Dieu, desquelles l'Orient d'en haut nous a visités.

KJV ⁷⁹ To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

MAR ⁷⁹ Afin de reluire à ceux qui sont assis dans les ténèbres et dans l'ombre de la mort, et pour conduire nos pas dans le chemin de la paix.

KJV ⁸⁰ And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.

MAR ⁸⁰ Et le petit enfant croissait, et se fortifiait en esprit ; et il fut dans les déserts jusqu'au jour qu'il devait être manifesté à Israël.

KJV ¹ And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

MAR ¹ Or il arriva en ces jours-là, qu'un Edit fut publié de la part de César Auguste, [portant] que tout le monde fût enregistré.

KJV ² (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

MAR ² Et cette première description fut faite lorsque Cyrénius avait le gouvernement de Syrie.

KJV ³ And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

MAR ³ Ainsi tous allaient pour être mis par écrit, chacun en sa ville.

KJV ⁴ And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

MAR ⁴ Et Joseph monta de Galilée en Judée, [savoir] de la ville de Nazareth, en la cité de David, appelée Bethléhem, à cause qu'il était de la maison et de la famille de David ;

KJV ⁵ To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

MAR ⁵ Pour être enregistré avec Marie, la femme qui lui avait été fiancée, laquelle était enceinte.

KJV ⁶ And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

MAR ⁶ Et il arriva comme ils étaient là, que son terme pour accoucher fut accompli.

KJV ⁷ And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

MAR ⁷ Et elle mit au monde son fils premier-né, et l'emmaillota, et le coucha dans une crèche, à cause qu'il n'y avait point de place pour eux dans l'hôtellerie.

KJV ⁸ And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

MAR ⁸ Or il y avait en ces quartiers-là des bergers couchant aux champs, et gardant leur troupeau durant les veilles de la nuit.

KJV ⁹ And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

MAR ⁹ Et voici, l'Ange du Seigneur survint vers eux, et la clarté du Seigneur resplendit autour d'eux, et ils furent saisis d'une fort grande peur.

KJV ¹⁰ And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

MAR ¹⁰ Mais l'Ange leur dit : n'ayez point de peur ; car voici, je vous annonce un grand sujet de joie qui sera tel pour tout le peuple :

KJV ¹¹ For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

MAR ¹¹ C'est qu'aujourd'hui dans la cité de David vous est né le Sauveur, qui est le Christ, le Seigneur.

KJV ¹² And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

MAR ¹² Et c'est ici la marque à laquelle vous le reconnaîtrez, c'est que vous trouverez le petit enfant emmailloté, et couché dans une crèche.

KJV ¹³ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

MAR ¹³ Et aussitôt avec l'Ange il y eut une multitude de l'armée céleste, louant Dieu, et disant :

KJV ¹⁴ Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

MAR ¹⁴ Gloire soit à Dieu dans les lieux très-hauts, que la paix soit sur la terre et la bonne volonté dans les hommes !

KJV ¹⁵ And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

MAR ¹⁵ Et il arriva qu'après que les Anges s'en furent allés d'avec eux au ciel, les bergers dirent entre eux : allons donc jusqu'à Bethléhem, et voyons cette chose qui est arrivée, et que le Seigneur nous a découverte.

KJV ¹⁶ And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

MAR ¹⁶ Ils allèrent donc à grand hâte, et ils trouvèrent Marie et Joseph, et le petit enfant couché dans une crèche.

KJV ¹⁷ And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

MAR ¹⁷ Et quand ils l'eurent vu, ils divulguèrent ce qui leur avait été dit touchant ce petit enfant.

KJV ¹⁸ And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

MAR ¹⁸ Et tous ceux qui les ouïrent s'étonnèrent des choses qui leur étaient dites par les bergers.

KJV ¹⁹ But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

MAR ¹⁹ Et Marie gardait soigneusement toutes ces choses, et les repassait dans son esprit.

KJV ²⁰ And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

MAR ²⁰ Puis les bergers s'en retournèrent, glorifiant et louant Dieu de toutes ces choses qu'ils avaient ouïes et vues, selon qu'il leur en avait été parlé.

KJV ²¹ And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

KJV ²⁵ And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

KJV ³¹ Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;

MAR ³¹ Lequel tu as préparé devant la face de tous les peuples.

KJV ³² A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

MAR ³² La lumière pour éclairer les nations ; et pour être la gloire de ton peuple d'Israël.

KJV ³³ And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.

MAR ³³ Et Joseph et sa mère s'étonnaient des choses qui étaient dites de lui.

KJV ³⁴ And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;

MAR ³⁴ Et Siméon le bénit, et dit à Marie sa mère : voici, celui-ci est mis pour être une occasion de chute et de relèvement de plusieurs en Israël, et pour être un signe auquel on contredira.

KJV ³⁵ (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

KJV ³⁶ And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;

MAR ³⁶ Il y avait aussi Anne la Prophétesse, fille de Phanuel de la Tribu d'Aser, qui était déjà avancée en âge, et qui avait vécu avec son mari sept ans depuis sa virginité ;

KJV ³⁷ And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

MAR ³⁷ Et veuve d'environ quatre-vingt-quatre ans, elle ne bougeait point du temple, servant [Dieu] en jeûnes et en prières, nuit et jour.

KJV ³⁸ And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

MAR ³⁸ Elle étant donc survenue en ce même moment, louait aussi le Seigneur, et parlait de lui à tous ceux qui attendaient la délivrance à Jérusalem.

KJV ³⁹ And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.

KJV ⁴⁰ And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

KJV ⁴¹ Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.

KJV ⁴² And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.

KJV ⁴³ And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.

KJV ⁴⁴ But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.

MAR ⁴⁴ Mais croyant qu'il était dans la troupe des voyageurs, ils marchèrent une journée ; puis ils le cherchèrent entre leurs parents et ceux de leur connaissance.

KJV ⁴⁵ And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.

KJV ⁴⁶ And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.

KJV ⁴⁷ And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

KJV ⁴⁸ And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

KJV ⁴⁹ And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

KJV ⁵⁰ And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.

KJV ⁵¹ And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

KJV ⁸ Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

KJV ¹² Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do?

KJV ¹³ And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you.

KJV ¹⁴ And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.

MAR ¹⁴ Les gens de guerre l'interrogèrent aussi, disant : et nous, que ferons-nous ? Il leur dit : n'usez point de concussion, ni de fraude contre personne, mais contentez-vous de vos gages.

KJV ¹⁵ And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not;

KJV ³ And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

MAR ³ Et le diable lui dit : si tu es le Fils de Dieu, dis à cette pierre qu'elle devienne du pain.

KJV ⁴ And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

MAR ⁴ Et Jésus lui répondit, en disant : il est écrit : que l'homme ne vivra pas seulement de pain, mais de toute parole de Dieu.

KJV ⁵ And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

MAR ⁵ Alors le diable l'emmena sur une haute montagne, et lui montra en un moment de temps tous les Royaumes du monde.

KJV ⁶ And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

MAR ⁶ Et le diable lui dit : je te donnerai toute cette puissance et leur gloire ; car elle m'a été donnée, et je la donne à qui je veux.

KJV ⁷ If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

KJV ⁸ And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

KJV ⁹ And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:

KJV ¹³ And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

KJV ¹⁴ And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

MAR ¹⁴ Et Jésus retourna en Galilée par la vertu de l'Esprit, et sa renommée se répandit par tout le pays d'alentour.

KJV ¹⁵ And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

KJV ¹⁶ And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

KJV ²⁰ And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

KJV ²¹ And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

MAR ²¹ Alors il commença à leur dire : aujourd'hui cette Ecriture est accomplie, vous l'entendant.

KJV ²² And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?

MAR ²² Et tous lui rendaient témoignage, et s'étonnaient des paroles [pleines] de grâce qui sortaient de sa bouche ; et ils disaient : celui-ci n'est-il pas le Fils de Joseph ?

KJV ²³ And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

MAR ²³ Et il leur dit : assurément vous me direz ce proverbe : médecin, guéris-toi toi-même ; et fais ici dans ton pays toutes les choses que nous avons ouï dire que tu as faites à Capernaüm.

KJV ²⁴ And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.

MAR ²⁴ Mais il leur dit : en vérité je vous dis qu'aucun Prophète n'est [bien] reçu dans son pays.

KJV ²⁵ But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;

MAR ²⁵ Et certes je vous dis qu'il y avait plusieurs veuves en Israël, du temps d'Elie, lorsque le ciel fut fermé trois ans et six mois ; de sorte qu'il y eut une grande famine par tout le pays.

KJV ²⁶ But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.

MAR ²⁶ Et toutefois Elie ne fut envoyé vers aucune d'elles, mais seulement vers une femme veuve dans Sarepta de Sidon.

KJV ²⁷ And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.

MAR ²⁷ Il y avait aussi plusieurs lépreux en Israël du temps d'Elisée le Prophète ; toutefois pas un d'eux ne fut guéri ; mais seulement Naaman, qui était Syrien.

KJV ²⁸ And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,

KJV ²⁹ And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
