KJV ⁴ Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

OST ⁴ Alors Pierre, prenant la parole, dit à Jésus: Seigneur, il est bon que nous demeurions ici; si tu veux, faisons-y trois tentes, une pour toi, une pour Moïse, et une pour Élie.

KJV ⁵ While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

OST ⁵ Comme il parlait encore, voici une nuée resplendissante les couvrit; et voici il vint de la nuée une voix qui dit: C'est ici mon Fils bien-aimé, en qui j'ai pris plaisir; écoutez-le.

KJV ⁶ And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

OST ⁶ Les disciples, entendant cela, tombèrent le visage contre terre, et furent saisis d'une très grande crainte.

KJV ⁷ And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

OST ⁷ Mais Jésus, s'approchant, les toucha, et leur dit: Levez-vous, et n'ayez point de peur.

KJV ⁸ And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

OST ⁸ Alors, levant leurs yeux, ils ne virent plus que Jésus seul.

KJV ⁹ And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

OST ⁹ Et comme ils descendaient de la montagne, Jésus leur fit cette défense: Ne dites à personne ce que vous avez vu, jusqu'à ce que le Fils de l'homme soit ressuscité des morts.

KJV ¹⁰ And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?

OST ¹⁰ Et ses disciples l'interrogèrent, disant: Pourquoi donc les scribes disent-ils qu'il faut qu'Élie vienne premièrement?

KJV ¹¹ And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.

OST ¹¹ Et Jésus leur répondit: Il est vrai qu'Élie devait venir premièrement, et rétablir toutes choses.

KJV ¹² But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.

OST ¹² Mais je vous dis qu'Élie est déjà venu, et ils ne l'ont point reconnu, mais ils lui ont fait tout ce qu'ils ont voulu; c'est ainsi qu'ils feront aussi souffrir le Fils de l'homme.

KJV ¹³ Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

KJV ¹⁴ And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,

KJV ¹⁵ Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.

OST ¹⁵ Seigneur! aie pitié de mon fils, car il est lunatique, et fort tourmenté; et il tombe souvent dans le feu, et souvent dans l'eau.

KJV ¹⁶ And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.

OST ¹⁶ Et je l'ai présenté à tes disciples, mais ils n'ont pu le guérir.

KJV ¹⁷ Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.

OST ¹⁷ Et Jésus, répondant, dit: O race incrédule et perverse, jusqu'à quand serai-je avec vous? jusqu'à quand vous supporterai-je? Amenez-le-moi ici.

KJV ¹⁸ And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.

OST ¹⁸ Et Jésus reprit sévèrement le démon, qui sortit de cet enfant; et, dès cette heure-là, l'enfant fut guéri.

KJV ¹⁹ Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?

OST ¹⁹ Alors les disciples vinrent en particulier à Jésus, et lui dirent: Pourquoi n'avons-nous pu chasser ce démon?

KJV ²⁰ And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

OST ²⁰ Et Jésus leur répondit: C'est à cause de votre incrédulité; car je vous dis en vérité que si vous aviez de la foi comme un grain de moutarde, vous diriez à cette montagne: Transporte-toi d'ici là, et elle s'y transporterait, et rien ne vous serait impossible.

KJV ²¹ Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

OST ²¹ Mais cette sorte de démons ne sort que par la prière et par le jeûne.

KJV ²² And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:

KJV ²³ And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.

KJV ²⁴ And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?

OST ²⁴ Et quand ils furent arrivés à Capernaüm, ceux qui recevaient les didrachmes s'adressèrent à Pierre et lui dirent: Votre maître ne paye-t-il pas les didrachmes?

KJV ²⁵ He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?

OST ²⁵ Il dit: Oui. Et quand il fut entré dans la maison, Jésus le prévint et lui dit: Que t'en semble, Simon? Les rois de la terre, de qui tirent-ils des impôts ou des tributs? Est-ce de leurs enfants, ou des étrangers?

KJV ²⁶ Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.

OST ²⁶ Pierre dit: Des étrangers. Jésus lui répondit: Les enfants en sont donc exempts.

KJV ²⁷ Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

OST ²⁷ Mais afin que nous ne les scandalisions point, va-t'en à la mer, jette l'hameçon et tire le premier poisson qui se prendra; et quand tu lui auras ouvert la bouche, tu trouveras un statère; prends-le, et le leur donne pour moi et pour toi.

KJV ¹ At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

OST ¹ A cette heure-là, les disciples vinrent à Jésus, et lui dirent: Qui est le plus grand dans le royaume des cieux?

KJV ² And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,

OST ² Et Jésus, ayant fait venir un enfant, le mit au milieu d'eux,

KJV ³ And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

OST ³ Et dit: Je vous le dis en vérité, si vous ne vous convertissez, et si vous ne devenez comme des enfants, vous n'entrerez point dans le royaume des cieux.

KJV ⁴ Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

OST ⁴ C'est pourquoi, quiconque s'abaissera, comme cet enfant, celui-là est le plus grand dans le royaume des cieux.

KJV ⁵ And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.

OST ⁵ Et quiconque reçoit un tel enfant en mon nom, me reçoit.

KJV ⁶ But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

OST ⁶ Mais si quelqu'un scandalise un de ces petits qui croient en moi, il vaudrait mieux pour lui qu'on lui attachât une meule au cou, et qu'on le jetât au fond de la mer.

KJV ⁷ Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!

OST ⁷ Malheur au monde à cause des scandales; il est nécessaire, il est vrai, qu'il arrive des scandales; mais malheur à l'homme par qui le scandale arrive!

KJV ⁸ Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.

OST ⁸ Que si ta main ou ton pied te fait tomber dans le péché, coupe-les, et jette-les loin de toi; car il vaut mieux que tu entres boiteux ou manchot dans la vie, que d'avoir deux pieds ou deux mains, et d'être jeté dans le feu éternel.

KJV ⁹ And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.

OST ⁹ Et si ton oeil te fait tomber dans le péché, arrache-le, et jette-le loin de toi; car il vaut mieux que tu entres dans la vie n'ayant qu'un oeil, que d'avoir deux yeux, et d'être jeté dans la géhenne du feu.

KJV ¹⁰ Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.

OST ¹⁰ Prenez garde de ne mépriser aucun de ces petits; car je vous dis que dans les cieux leurs anges voient sans cesse la face de mon Père qui est aux cieux.

KJV ¹¹ For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

OST ¹¹ Car le Fils de l'homme est venu pour sauver ce qui était perdu.

KJV ¹² How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?

KJV ¹³ And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.

OST ¹³ Et s'il arrive qu'il la trouve, je vous dis en vérité qu'il en a plus de joie, que des quatre-vingt-dix-neuf qui ne se sont point égarées.

KJV ¹⁴ Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

OST ¹⁴ Ainsi la volonté de votre Père qui est aux cieux n'est pas qu'un seul de ces petits se perde.

KJV ¹⁵ Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

OST ¹⁵ Si ton frère a péché contre toi, va et reprends-le entre toi et lui seul; s'il t'écoute, tu as gagné ton frère.

KJV ¹⁶ But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

OST ¹⁶ Mais s'il ne t'écoute pas, prends avec toi encore une ou deux personnes, afin que tout soit réglé sur la parole de deux ou de trois témoins.

KJV ¹⁷ And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

OST ¹⁷ Que s'il ne daigne pas les écouter, dis-le à l'Église; et s'il ne daigne pas écouter l'Église, regarde-le comme un païen et un péager.

KJV ¹⁸ Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

KJV ¹⁹ Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

OST ¹⁹ Je vous dis encore, que si deux d'entre vous s'accordent sur la terre à demander quoi que ce soit, ils l'obtiendront de mon Père qui est aux cieux.

KJV ²⁰ For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

KJV ²¹ Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

OST ²¹ Alors Pierre, s'étant approché, lui dit: Seigneur, combien de fois pardonnerai-je à mon frère, lorsqu'il péchera contre moi?

KJV ²² Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

OST ²² Sera-ce jusqu'à sept fois? Jésus lui répondit: Je ne te dis pas jusqu'à sept fois, mais jusqu'à septante fois sept fois.

KJV ²³ Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.

OST ²³ C'est pourquoi le royaume des cieux est semblable à un roi qui voulut compter avec ses serviteurs.

KJV ²⁴ And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.

OST ²⁴ Quand il eut commencé de compter, on lui en amena un qui lui devait dix mille talents;

KJV ²⁵ But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.

OST ²⁵ Et parce qu'il n'avait pas de quoi payer, son maître commanda qu'il fût vendu, lui, sa femme et ses enfants, et tout ce qu'il avait, afin que la dette fût payée.

KJV ²⁶ The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.

OST ²⁶ Et ce serviteur, se jetant à terre, le suppliait, en disant: Seigneur, aie patience envers moi, et je te payerai tout.

KJV ²⁷ Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.

OST ²⁷ Alors le maître de ce serviteur, ému de compassion, le laissa aller, et lui remit la dette.

KJV ²⁸ But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.

KJV ³⁰ And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.

KJV ³¹ So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.

OST ³¹ Ses compagnons de service, voyant ce qui s'était passé, en furent fort attristés; et ils vinrent rapporter à leur maître tout ce qui était arrivé.

KJV ³² Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:

OST ³² Alors son maître le fit venir et lui dit: Méchant serviteur, je t'avais remis toute cette dette, parce que tu m'en avais prié;

KJV ³³ Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?

OST ³³ Ne te fallait-il pas aussi avoir pitié de ton compagnon de service, comme j'avais eu pitié de toi?

KJV ³⁴ And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.

OST ³⁴ Et son maître, étant irrité, le livra aux sergents, jusqu'à ce qu'il eût payé tout ce qu'il lui devait.

KJV ³⁵ So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

OST ³⁵ C'est ainsi que vous fera mon Père céleste, si vous ne pardonnez pas, chacun de vous, de tout son coeur, à son frère ses fautes.

KJV ¹ And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan;

OST ¹ Quand Jésus eut achevé ces discours, il partit de Galilée, et s'en alla dans les quartiers de la Judée, au-delà du Jourdain.

KJV ² And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.

KJV ³ The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?

KJV ⁴ And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,

OST ⁴ Et il leur répondit: N'avez-vous pas lu que Celui qui créa, au commencement, fit un homme et une femme;

KJV ⁵ And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

OST ⁵ Et qu'il dit: A cause de cela l'homme quittera son père et sa mère, et s'attachera à sa femme, et les deux seront une seule chair?

KJV ⁶ Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

OST ⁶ Ainsi ils ne sont plus deux, mais une seule chair. Ce que Dieu a joint, que l'homme ne le sépare donc pas.

KJV ⁷ They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?

OST ⁷ Ils lui dirent: Pourquoi donc Moïse a-t-il commandé de donner une lettre de divorce à la femme et de la répudier?

KJV ⁸ He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.

OST ⁸ Il leur dit: C'est à cause de la dureté de votre coeur que Moïse vous a permis de répudier vos femmes; mais il n'en était pas ainsi au commencement.

KJV ⁹ And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

OST ⁹ Mais je vous dis que quiconque répudiera sa femme, si ce n'est pour cause d'adultère, et en épousera une autre, commet un adultère; et celui qui épousera celle qui a été répudiée, commet aussi un adultère.

KJV ¹⁰ His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.

OST ¹⁰ Ses disciples lui dirent: Si telle est la condition de l'homme uni à la femme, il ne convient pas de se marier.

KJV ¹¹ But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.

OST ¹¹ Mais il leur dit: Tous ne sont pas capables de cela, mais ceux-là seulement à qui il a été donné.

KJV ¹² For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

OST ¹² Car il y a des eunuques qui sont nés tels, du ventre de leur mère; il y en a qui ont été faits eunuques par les hommes; et il y en a qui se sont faits eunuques eux-mêmes pour le royaume des cieux. Que celui qui peut comprendre ceci, le comprenne.

KJV ¹³ Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.

OST ¹³ Alors on lui présenta de petits enfants, afin qu'il leur imposât les mains, et qu'il priât; mais les disciples les reprenaient.

KJV ¹⁴ But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

OST ¹⁴ Mais Jésus dit: Laissez les petits enfants, et ne les empêchez point de venir à moi; car le royaume des cieux est pour ceux qui leur ressemblent.

KJV ¹⁵ And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.

OST ¹⁵ Et leur ayant imposé les mains, il partit de là.

KJV ¹⁶ And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

OST ¹⁶ Et voici, quelqu'un s'approchant lui dit: Bon maître, que dois-je faire de bien pour avoir la vie éternelle?

KJV ¹⁷ And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

OST ¹⁷ Il lui répondit: Pourquoi m'appelles-tu bon? Personne n'est bon, sauf Dieu seul. Que si tu veux entrer dans la vie, garde les commandements.

KJV ²² But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

OST ²² Mais quand le jeune homme eut entendu cette parole, il s'en alla tout triste; car il possédait de grands biens.

KJV ²³ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

OST ²³ Alors Jésus dit à ses disciples: Je vous dis en vérité qu'un riche entrera difficilement dans le royaume des cieux.

KJV ²⁴ And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

OST ²⁴ Et je vous dis encore: Il est plus aisé qu'un chameau passe par le trou d'une aiguille, qu'il ne l'est qu'un riche entre dans le royaume de Dieu.

KJV ²⁵ When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?

OST ²⁵ Ses disciples, ayant entendu cela, furent fort étonnés, et ils disaient: Qui peut donc être sauvé?

KJV ²⁶ But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

OST ²⁶ Et Jésus, les regardant, leur dit: Quant aux hommes, cela est impossible; mais quant à Dieu, toutes choses sont possibles.

KJV ²⁷ Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?

OST ²⁸ Et Jésus leur dit: Je vous dis en vérité, à vous qui m'avez suivi, que lorsque le Fils de l'homme sera assis sur le trône de sa gloire, dans le renouvellement qui doit arriver, vous aussi serez assis sur douze trônes, jugeant les douze tribus d'Israël.

KJV ²⁹ And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
