BAN ² Lorsque l'Eternel commença à parler par Osée, l'Eternel dit à Osée : Va, prends une femme prostituée et des enfants de prostitution, car le pays ne fait que se prostituer en abandonnant l'Eternel.

KJV ² The beginning of the word of the LORD by Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the LORD.

BAN ³ Et il alla et prit Gomer, fille de Diblaïm, et elle conçut et lui enfanta un fils.

KJV ³ So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; which conceived, and bare him a son.

BAN ⁴ Et l'Eternel lui dit : Nomme-le Jizréel, car encore un peu de temps, et je punirai le sang de Jizréel sur la maison de Jéhu, et je ferai cesser la royauté de la maison d'Israël.

KJV ⁴ And the LORD said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause to cease the kingdom of the house of Israel.

BAN ⁵ Et il arrivera en ce jour-là que je briserai l'arc d'Israël dans la vallée de Jizréel.

KJV ⁵ And it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of Israel, in the valley of Jezreel.

BAN ⁶ Et elle conçut encore et enfanta une fille ; et il dit à Osée : Nomme-la Lo-Ruchama (non graciée), car je n'aurai plus compassion de la maison d'Israël pour enlever ses péchés.

KJV ⁶ And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And God said unto him, Call her name Loruhamah: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them away.

BAN ⁷ Mais, de la maison de Juda, j'en aurai compassion, et je les sauverai par l'Eternel leur Dieu ; je ne les sauverai pas par l'arc et par l'épée et par la guerre, par les chevaux et par les cavaliers.

KJV ⁷ But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen.

BAN ⁸ Et elle sevra Lo-Ruchama, et elle conçut et enfanta un fils.

KJV ⁸ Now when she had weaned Loruhamah, she conceived, and bare a son.

BAN ⁹ Et il dit : Nomme-le Lo-Ammi (non mon peuple), car vous n'êtes pas mon peuple, et moi, je ne serai pas à vous.

KJV ⁹ Then said God, Call his name Loammi: for ye are not my people, and I will not be your God.

BAN ¹⁰ Et le nombre des fils d'Israël sera comme le sable de la mer qui ne se mesure ni ne se compte ; et là où on leur disait : Vous n'êtes pas mon peuple, on leur dira : Fils du Dieu vivant.

KJV ¹⁰ Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.

BAN ¹¹ Et les fils de Juda et les fils d'Israël se réuniront et se donneront un même chef, et monteront hors du pays car grande est la journée de Jizréel.

KJV ¹¹ Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for great shall be the day of Jezreel.

BAN ¹ Dites à vos frères Ammi (mon peuple), et à vos soeurs Ruchama (graciée).

BAN ² Plaidez contre votre mère, plaidez ! car elle n'est pas ma femme, et moi, je ne suis pas son mari ; et qu'elle éloigne de sa face ses prostitutions, et ses adultères d'entre ses mamelles.

KJV ² Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;

BAN ³ De peur que je ne la déshabille à nu et que je ne la laisse là telle qu'au jour de sa naissance, et que je ne la rende pareille au désert et ne fasse d'elle une terre desséchée, et ne la fasse mourir de soif.

KJV ³ Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst.

BAN ⁴ Et quant à ses enfants, je n'en aurai pas compassion, car ils sont des enfants de prostitution.

KJV ⁴ And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they be the children of whoredoms.

BAN ⁵ Car leur mère s'est prostituée celle qui les a conçus a fait des choses honteuses, car elle a dit : Je m'en irai après mes amants, qui me donnent mon pain et mon eau, ma laine et mon lin, mon huile et mes boissons.

KJV ⁵ For their mother hath played the harlot: she that conceived them hath done shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink.

BAN ⁶ C'est pourquoi je vais te barrer le chemin avec des ronces ; j'élèverai un mur, et elle ne trouvera pas ses sentiers.

KJV ⁶ Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and make a wall, that she shall not find her paths.

BAN ⁷ Elle poursuivra ses amants sans les atteindre, elle les cherchera sans les trouver. Puis elle dira : Je veux aller et retourner vers mon premier mari, car j'étais mieux alors que maintenant.

KJV ⁷ And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.

BAN ⁸ Car elle n'avait pas su que c'était moi qui lui avais donné le froment, le moût et l'huile, et l'argent en abondance et l'or qu'ils ont employés pour Baal.

KJV ⁸ For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal.

BAN ⁹ C'est pourquoi je reprendrai mon froment en son temps, et mon moût dans sa saison, et je retirerai ma laine et mon lin dont elle couvre sa nudité.

KJV ⁹ Therefore will I return, and take away my corn in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and will recover my wool and my flax given to cover her nakedness.

BAN ¹⁰ Et maintenant, je découvrirai sa honte aux yeux de ses amants et personne ne l'arrachera de ma main.

KJV ¹⁰ And now will I discover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of mine hand.

KJV ¹¹ I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts.

BAN ¹² Et je dévasterai sa vigne et son figuier dont elle disait : C'est un cadeau que m'ont fait mes amants. Et je les réduirai en forêts, et les bêtes sauvages les dévoreront.

KJV ¹² And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees, whereof she hath said, These are my rewards that my lovers have given me: and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall eat them.

BAN ¹³ Et je la punirai pour les jours des Baals auxquels elle offrait des encensements ; et elle se parait de son anneau et de son collier, et elle suivait ses amants ; et moi, elle m'a oublié, dit l'Eternel.

KJV ¹³ And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, wherein she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith the LORD.

BAN ¹⁴ C'est pourquoi, je m'en vais l'attirer et je la mènerai dans le désert et je lui parlerai selon son coeur.

KJV ¹⁴ Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her.

BAN ¹⁵ Et de là, je lui donnerai ses vignes, et la vallée d'Acor pour porte d'espérance ; et elle répondra là comme aux jours de sa jeunesse et comme au jour où elle monta hors du pays d'Egypte.

KJV ¹⁵ And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

BAN ¹⁶ Et il arrivera en ce jour-là, dit l'Eternel, que tu m'appelleras : Mon mari, et tu ne m'appelleras plus : Mon Baal.

BAN ¹⁷ Et j'ôterai les noms des Baals de sa bouche, et l'on ne se souviendra plus de leur nom.

KJV ¹⁷ For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.

BAN ¹⁸ Et je ferai pour eux en ce jour-là un pacte avec les bêtes sauvages et avec les oiseaux des cieux et les reptiles de la terre ; je briserai pour les jeter hors du pays, l'arc, l'épée et la guerre, et je les y ferai habiter en sécurité.

KJV ¹⁸ And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely.

BAN ¹⁹ Et je te fiancerai à moi à jamais, je te fiancerai à moi en justice et en jugement, en grâce et en tendresse.

KJV ²¹ And it shall come to pass in that day, I will hear, saith the LORD, I will hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth;

BAN ²² Et la terre répondra au froment, au moût et à l'huile, et eux répondront à Jizréel.

KJV ²² And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel.

BAN ²³ Et je le sèmerai pour moi dans le pays et j'aurai compassion de Lo-Ruchama (non graciée), et je dirai à Lo-Ammi (non mon peuple) : Tu es mon peuple ! et lui dira : Mon Dieu !

KJV ²³ And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.

BAN ¹ Et l'Eternel me dit. Va encore aimer une femme aimée d'un amant et adultère, comme l'Eternel aime les fils d'Israël, tandis qu'eux se tournent vers d'autres dieux et aiment les gâteaux de raisins.

KJV ¹ Then said the LORD unto me, Go yet, love a woman beloved of her friend, yet an adulteress, according to the love of the LORD toward the children of Israel, who look to other gods, and love flagons of wine.

BAN ² Et je l'achetai pour quinze sicles d'argent, un homer d'orge et un létec d'orge.

KJV ² So I bought her to me for fifteen pieces of silver, and for an homer of barley, and an half homer of barley:

BAN ³ Et je lui dis : Tu me demeureras là pendant de longs jours, tu ne te prostitueras point, et tu ne seras à aucun homme, et moi, je ferai de même pour toi.

KJV ³ And I said unto her, Thou shalt abide for me many days; thou shalt not play the harlot, and thou shalt not be for another man: so will I also be for thee.

BAN ⁴ Car pendant de longs jours les fils d'Israël demeureront sans roi et sans chef, sans sacrifice et sans statue, sans éphod ni théraphim.

KJV ⁴ For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and without teraphim:

BAN ⁵ Puis les fils d'Israël se convertiront et se remettront à chercher l'Eternel leur Dieu et David leur roi ; tremblants, ils se retireront vers l'Eternel et vers sa bonté, à la fin des temps.

KJV ⁵ Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the latter days.

BAN ¹ Ecoutez la parole de l'Eternel, fils d'Israël, car l'Eternel a un procès avec les habitants du pays, parce qu'il n'y a ni vérité, ni bonté, ni connaissance de Dieu dans le pays.

KJV ¹ Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

BAN ² On se parjure, on tue, on vole, on commet adultère ! Ils font effraction, et le sang versé touche le sang versé.

KJV ² By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.

BAN ³ C'est pourquoi le pays sera dans le deuil et tous ses habitants dans la langueur, avec les bêtes des champs et les oiseaux des cieux ; et même les poissons de la mer disparaîtront.

KJV ³ Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.

BAN ⁴ Mais que nul ne conteste et que nul ne réclame ! Car ton peuple est comme celui qui aurait procès avec le sacrificateur.

KJV ⁴ Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest.

BAN ⁵ Tu trébucheras de jour, le prophète aussi trébuchera avec toi de nuit ; et je ferai périr ta mère.

KJV ⁵ Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.

BAN ⁶ Mon peuple périt, faute de connaissance. Puisque tu as rejeté la connaissance, je te rejetterai de mon sacerdoce. Tu as oublié la loi de ton Dieu ; moi aussi, j'oublierai tes enfants.

KJV ⁶ My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

BAN ⁷ Plus ils se sont multipliés, plus ils ont péché contre moi ; je changerai leur gloire en ignominie.

KJV ⁷ As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.

BAN ⁸ Ils vivent des péchés de mon peuple et ne demandent que ses iniquités.

KJV ⁸ They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.

BAN ⁹ Aussi il en sera du sacrificateur comme du peuple ; je le punirai de ses voies et lui rendrai ce qu'il a fait.

KJV ⁹ And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.

BAN ¹⁰ Ils mangeront et ne seront pas rassasiés ; ils se prostitueront et ne multiplieront pas, car ils ont abandonné le service de l'Eternel.

KJV ¹⁰ For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD.

BAN ¹¹ La luxure, le vin et le moût ôtent le sens.

KJV ¹¹ Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.

BAN ¹² Mon peuple consulte le bois, et c'est son bâton qui l'instruit ; car un esprit de prostitution les a égarés : pour se prostituer, ils se sont soustraits à leur Dieu.

KJV ¹² My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.

BAN ¹³ Ils offrent des sacrifices sur les sommets des montagnes et de l'encens sur les collines, sous le chêne, le peuplier, le térébinthe, parce que l'ombrage en est bon. C'est pourquoi vos filles se prostituent et vos jeunes femmes commettent adultère.

KJV ¹³ They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.

BAN ¹⁴ Je ne punirai pas vos filles pour leurs prostitutions et vos jeunes femmes pour leurs adultères, car eux-mêmes vont à l'écart avec les prostituées et sacrifient avec les courtisanes, et le peuple sans intelligence court à sa perte.

KJV ¹⁴ I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall.

BAN ¹⁵ Si tu te prostitues, ô Israël, que Juda ne se rende point coupable. N'allez pas à Guilgal et ne montez pas à Beth-Aven, et ne jurez pas en disant : L'Eternel est vivant !

KJV ¹⁵ Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Bethaven, nor swear, The LORD liveth.

BAN ¹⁶ Parce qu'Israël a été rétif comme une génisse rétive, maintenant l'Eternel les fera paître comme des agneaux dans un pays ouvert.

KJV ¹⁶ For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place.

BAN ¹⁷ Ephraïm se fait compagnon des idoles, laisse-le faire !

KJV ¹⁷ Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.

BAN ¹⁸ Ont-ils fini de boire, les voilà tous à la prostitution ! Leurs chefs ont la passion de l'ignominie.

KJV ¹⁸ Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye.

BAN ¹⁹ Le vent les a emportés sur ses ailes, et ils recueilleront la honte de leurs sacrifices.

KJV ¹⁹ The wind hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.

BAN ¹ Entendez ceci, sacrificateurs ; écoutez, maison d'Israël ; maison du roi, prêtez l'oreille ; car c'est pour vous qu'est la sentence, parce que vous avez été un piège à Mitspa, et un filet sur le Thabor.

KJV ¹ Hear ye this, O priests; and hearken, ye house of Israel; and give ye ear, O house of the king; for judgment is toward you, because ye have been a snare on Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.

BAN ² Leurs sacrifices ont creusé [l'abîme de] leur rébellion ; je vais vous reprendre tous.

KJV ² And the revolters are profound to make slaughter, though I have been a rebuker of them all.

BAN ³ Je connais Ephraïm, et Israël ne m'est point caché : or, tu t'es prostitué, Ephraïm ; Israël s'est souillé.

KJV ³ I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me: for now, O Ephraim, thou committest whoredom, and Israel is defiled.

BAN ⁴ Leurs oeuvres ne leur permettent pas de revenir à leur Dieu, car un esprit de prostitution est au milieu d'eux, et ils ne connaissent pas l'Eternel.

KJV ⁴ They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God: for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they have not known the LORD.

BAN ⁵ L'orgueil d'Israël dépose contre lui Israël et Ephraïm tomberont par leur iniquité ; Juda aussi est tombé avec eux.

KJV ⁵ And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity: Judah also shall fall with them.

BAN ⁶ Avec leurs moutons et leurs boeufs ils iront chercher l'Eternel, et ils ne le trouveront point ; il s'est dérobé à eux.

KJV ⁶ They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the LORD; but they shall not find him; he hath withdrawn himself from them.

BAN ⁷ Ils ont trompé l'Eternel, car ils ont enfanté des fils étrangers ; la prochaine lune les dévorera avec leurs biens.

KJV ⁷ They have dealt treacherously against the LORD: for they have begotten strange children: now shall a month devour them with their portions.

BAN ⁸ Sonnez du cor à Guibéa, du clairon à Rama ; jetez des cris d'alarme à Beth-Aven ! Garde à toi, Benjamin !

KJV ⁸ Blow ye the cornet in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah: cry aloud at Bethaven, after thee, O Benjamin.

BAN ⁹ Ephraïm sera dévasté au jour du châtiment ; j'annonce une chose certaine dans les tribus d'Israël.

KJV ⁹ Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be.

BAN ¹⁰ Les princes de Juda ont été comme des gens qui déplacent les bornes : je répandrai sur eux ma colère comme de l'eau.

KJV ¹⁰ The princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound: therefore I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.

BAN ¹¹ Ephraïm est opprimé, accablé justement, parce qu'il a consenti à suivre des règlements.

KJV ¹¹ Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after the commandment.

BAN ¹² Et moi, je suis comme la teigne pour Ephraïm, comme la vermoulure pour la maison de Juda.

KJV ¹² Therefore will I be unto Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as rottenness.

BAN ¹³ Quand Ephraïm a vu sa maladie, et Juda sa blessure, Ephraïm est allé vers Assur, et il a envoyé vers un roi qui prit son parti ; mais celui-ci ne pourra vous guérir, et votre plaie ne sera point cicatrisée.

KJV ¹³ When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then went Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb: yet could he not heal you, nor cure you of your wound.

BAN ¹⁴ Car je serai comme le lion pour Ephraïm, et comme le jeune lion pour la maison de Juda ; moi, moi, je déchirerai et m'en irai ; j'emporterai ma proie et on ne me l'arrachera pas.

KJV ¹⁴ For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue him.

BAN ¹⁵ Je m'en irai, je rentrerai dans ma demeure jusqu'à ce qu'ils se reconnaissent coupables et qu'ils cherchent ma face. Dans leur détresse, ils me réclameront.

KJV ¹⁵ I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.

BAN ¹ Venez et retournons à l'Eternel ! Car c'est lui qui a déchiré, il nous guérira. Qu'il frappe, il bandera nos plaies.

KJV ¹ Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

BAN ² En deux jours, il nous fera revivre ; le troisième jour, il nous relèvera, et nous vivrons devant sa face.

KJV ² After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

BAN ³ Connaissons l'Eternel, appliquons-nous à le connaître ; son lever est certain comme celui de l'aurore, et il viendra à nous comme la pluie tardive arrosant la terre.

KJV ³ Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

BAN ⁴ Que te ferai-je, Ephraïm ? que te ferai-je, Juda ? Votre amour est comme une nuée du matin, comme la rosée qui passe de bonne heure.

KJV ⁴ O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee? for your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goeth away.

BAN ⁵ C'est pourquoi j'ai taillé en pièces par les prophètes, je les ai tués par la parole de ma bouche ; ton jugement, voilà la lumière qui se lèvera !

KJV ⁵ Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth.

BAN ⁶ Car je prends plaisir à l'amour, et non au sacrifice, à la connaissance de Dieu plus qu'aux holocaustes.

KJV ⁶ For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

BAN ⁷ Mais eux, à la façon des hommes, ont transgressé l'alliance ; là, ils m'ont trompé.

KJV ⁷ But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.

BAN ⁸ Galaad est une, ville de malfaiteurs, remplie de traces de sang.

KJV ⁹ And as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests murder in the way by consent: for they commit lewdness.

BAN ¹⁰ Dans la maison d'Israël, j'ai vu des horreurs ; là est la prostitution, la souillure d'Israël.

KJV ¹⁰ I have seen an horrible thing in the house of Israel: there is the whoredom of Ephraim, Israel is defiled.

BAN ¹¹ Juda même a fait de toi une moisson quand j'ai relevé mon peuple.

KJV ¹¹ Also, O Judah, he hath set an harvest for thee, when I returned the captivity of my people.

BAN ¹ Dès que je me suis mis à traiter Israël, on a pu voir l'iniquité d'Ephraïm et les méchancetés de Samarie ; car ils ont pratiqué le mensonge ; le voleur va pénétrer dans la maison, les brigands tiennent la campagne.

KJV ¹ When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria: for they commit falsehood; and the thief cometh in, and the troop of robbers spoileth without.

BAN ² Et ils ne se disent pas que je me souviens de toute leur malice. Maintenant leurs forfaits les ont environnés, ils sont là devant moi.

KJV ² And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now their own doings have beset them about; they are before my face.

BAN ³ Par leur méchanceté ils égaient le roi, et les princes par leurs tromperies.

KJV ³ They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.

BAN ⁴ Tous ils sont adultères, pareils à un four allumé par un boulanger qui cesse de veiller depuis qu'il a pétri la pâte jusqu'à ce qu'elle soit levée.

KJV ⁴ They are all adulterers, as an oven heated by the baker, who ceaseth from raising after he hath kneaded the dough, until it be leavened.

BAN ⁵ Au jour de notre roi, les princes l'ont rendu malade par l'ardeur du vin ; il a étendu la main avec les moqueurs.

KJV ⁵ In the day of our king the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scorners.

BAN ⁶ Quand, dans leur complot, ils ont mis leurs coeurs comme dans un four, leur boulanger a dormi toute la nuit. Le matin, il a été embrasé pareil à une flamme ardente.

KJV ⁶ For they have made ready their heart like an oven, whiles they lie in wait: their baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.

BAN ⁷ Tous sont chauffés comme un four, et ils dévorent leurs juges. Tous leurs rois sont tombés sans qu'aucun ait crié à moi.

KJV ⁷ They are all hot as an oven, and have devoured their judges; all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.

BAN ⁸ Ephraïm se mêle avec les peuples ; Ephraïm est un gâteau qu'on n'a pas retourné.

KJV ⁸ Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned.

BAN ⁹ Des étrangers ont dévoré sa force, et lui ne l'a pas su ; sa tête s'est parsemée de cheveux blancs, et lui ne l'a pas su.

KJV ⁹ Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.

BAN ¹⁰ Mais l'orgueil d'Israël témoigne contre lui : ils ne se sont point retournés vers l'Eternel leur Dieu, et ils ne l'ont point recherché, avec tout cela !

KJV ¹⁰ And the pride of Israel testifieth to his face: and they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this.

BAN ¹¹ Ephraïm est devenu comme une colombe simple et sans intelligence : ils appellent l'Egypte, ils vont en Assyrie.

KJV ¹¹ Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.

BAN ¹² Pendant qu'ils vont, j'étends mon filet sur eux ; je les ferai tomber comme les oiseaux du ciel, je les châtierai comme on l'a annoncé à leur assemblée.

KJV ¹² When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.

BAN ¹³ Malheur à eux, car ils ont fui loin de moi ; ruine sur eux, car ils m'ont été infidèles ! Et moi, je les délivrerais, mais eux disent contre moi des mensonges.

KJV ¹³ Woe unto them! for they have fled from me: destruction unto them! because they have transgressed against me: though I have redeemed them, yet they have spoken lies against me.

BAN ¹⁴ Ils ne crient point à moi dans leur coeur, quand ils se lamentent sur leurs lits ; ils se tourmentent au sujet du froment et du moût, se détournant de moi.

KJV ¹⁴ And they have not cried unto me with their heart, when they howled upon their beds: they assemble themselves for corn and wine, and they rebel against me.

BAN ¹⁵ C'est moi qui les instruisais, qui fortifiais leurs bras, et ils méditent du mal contre moi !

KJV ¹⁵ Though I have bound and strengthened their arms, yet do they imagine mischief against me.

BAN ¹⁶ Ils se tournent, mais non pas en haut ; ils sont comme un arc trompeur ; leurs chefs tomberont par l'épée à cause de la colère de leurs langues... Cela fera rire d'eux au pays d'Egypte !

KJV ¹⁶ They return, but not to the most High: they are like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.
