KJV ² The beginning of the word of the LORD by Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the LORD.

L'Eternel dit à Osée: «Va prendre une femme prostituée et des enfants de prostitution! En effet, le pays se prostitue, il abandonne l'Eternel.»

WLC ² תְּחִלַּ֥ת דִּבֶּר־ יְהוָ֖ה בְּהוֹשֵׁ֑עַ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֶל־ הוֹשֵׁ֗עַ לֵ֣ךְ קַח־ לְךָ֞ אֵ֤שֶׁת זְנוּנִים֙ וְיַלְדֵ֣י זְנוּנִ֔ים כִּֽי־ זָנֹ֤ה תִזְנֶה֙ הָאָ֔רֶץ מֵֽאַחֲרֵ֖י יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ³ So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; which conceived, and bare him a son.

S21 ³ Il alla prendre Gomer, fille de Diblaïm. Elle devint enceinte et lui donna un fils.

WLC ³ וַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ וַיִּקַּ֔ח אֶת־ גֹּ֖מֶר בַּת־ דִּבְלָ֑יִם וַתַּ֥הַר וַתֵּֽלֶד־ ל֖וֹ בֵּֽן׃

KJV ⁴ And the LORD said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause to cease the kingdom of the house of Israel.

S21 ⁴ L'Eternel lui dit: «Appelle-le Jizreel, car encore un peu de temps et j'interviendrai contre la famille de Jéhu à cause du sang versé à Jizreel, je mettrai fin au royaume de la communauté d'Israël.

WLC ⁴ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֵלָ֔יו קְרָ֥א שְׁמ֖וֹ יִזְרְעֶ֑אל כִּי־ ע֣וֹד מְעַ֗ט וּפָ֨קַדְתִּ֜י אֶת־ דְּמֵ֤י יִזְרְעֶאל֙ עַל־ בֵּ֣ית יֵה֔וּא וְהִ֨שְׁבַּתִּ֔י מַמְלְכ֖וּת בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJV ⁵ And it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of Israel, in the valley of Jezreel.

S21 ⁵ Ce jour-là, je briserai l'arc d'Israël dans la vallée de Jizreel.»

WLC ⁵ וְהָיָ֖ה בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא וְשָֽׁבַרְתִּי֙ אֶת־ קֶ֣שֶׁת יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בְּעֵ֖מֶק יִזְרְעֶֽאל׃

KJV ⁶ And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And God said unto him, Call her name Loruhamah: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them away.

S21 ⁶ Elle fut de nouveau enceinte et mit au monde une fille. L'Eternel dit à Osée: «Appelle-la Lo-Ruchama, car je ne continuerai plus à avoir compassion de la communauté d'Israël, je ne lui pardonnerai plus.

WLC ⁶ וַתַּ֤הַר עוֹד֙ וַתֵּ֣לֶד בַּ֔ת וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֔וֹ קְרָ֥א שְׁמָ֖הּ לֹ֣א רֻחָ֑מָה כִּי֩ לֹ֨א אוֹסִ֜יף ע֗וֹד אֲרַחֵם֙ אֶת־ בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כִּֽי־ נָשֹׂ֥א אֶשָּׂ֖א לָהֶֽם׃

KJV ⁷ But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen.

S21 ⁷ En revanche, j'aurai compassion de la communauté de Juda. Je les sauverai par l'Eternel, leur Dieu, et je ne les sauverai ni par l'arc, ni par l'épée, ni par les combats, ni par les chevaux, ni par les cavaliers.»

WLC ⁷ וְאֶת־ בֵּ֤ית יְהוּדָה֙ אֲרַחֵ֔ם וְהֽוֹשַׁעְתִּ֖ים בַּיהוָ֣ה אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֑ם וְלֹ֣א אֽוֹשִׁיעֵ֗ם בְּקֶ֤שֶׁת וּבְחֶ֙רֶב֙ וּבְמִלְחָמָ֔ה בְּסוּסִ֖ים וּבְפָרָשִֽׁים׃

KJV ⁸ Now when she had weaned Loruhamah, she conceived, and bare a son.

S21 ⁸ Elle sevra Lo-Ruchama, puis elle devint enceinte et mit au monde un fils.

KJV ⁹ Then said God, Call his name Loammi: for ye are not my people, and I will not be your God.

S21 ⁹ L'Eternel dit: «Appelle-le Lo-Ammi, car vous n'êtes pas mon peuple et moi, je ne suis pas votre Dieu.

KJV ¹⁰ Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.

KJV ¹¹ Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for great shall be the day of Jezreel.

KJV ¹ Say ye unto your brethren, Ammi; and to your sisters, Ruhamah.

KJV ² Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;

S21 ² Les Judéens et les Israélites se rassembleront, ils se donneront un chef unique et sortiront du pays. En effet, elle sera grande, la journée de Jizreel.

WLC ² וְ֠נִקְבְּצוּ בְּנֵֽי־ יְהוּדָ֤ה וּבְנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ יַחְדָּ֔ו וְשָׂמ֥וּ לָהֶ֛ם רֹ֥אשׁ אֶחָ֖ד וְעָל֣וּ מִן־ הָאָ֑רֶץ כִּ֥י גָד֖וֹל י֥וֹם יִזְרְעֶֽאל׃

KJV ³ Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst.

KJV ⁴ And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they be the children of whoredoms.

S21 ⁴ Plaidez, plaidez contre votre mère, car elle n'est pas ma femme
et je ne suis pas son mari.
Qu'elle retire de son visage ses prostitutions,
et d'entre ses seins ses adultères!

WLC ⁴ רִ֤יבוּ בְאִמְּכֶם֙ רִ֔יבוּ כִּֽי־ הִיא֙ לֹ֣א אִשְׁתִּ֔י וְאָנֹכִ֖י לֹ֣א אִישָׁ֑הּ וְתָסֵ֤ר זְנוּנֶ֙יהָ֙ מִפָּנֶ֔יה וְנַאֲפוּפֶ֖יהָ מִבֵּ֥ין שָׁדֶֽיהָ׃

KJV ⁵ For their mother hath played the harlot: she that conceived them hath done shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink.

S21 ⁵ Sinon, je la déshabillerai pour qu'elle soit toute nue,
je la rendrai pareille au jour de sa naissance;
je la transformerai en désert, je la changerai en une terre aride
et je la ferai mourir de soif.

WLC ⁵ פֶּן־ אַפְשִׁיטֶ֣נָּה עֲרֻמָּ֔ה וְהִ֨צַּגְתִּ֔יהָ כְּי֖וֹם הִוָּֽלְדָ֑הּ וְשַׂמְתִּ֣יהָ כַמִּדְבָּ֗ר וְשַׁתִּ֙הָ֙ כְּאֶ֣רֶץ צִיָּ֔ה וַהֲמִתִּ֖יהָ בַּצָּמָֽא׃

KJV ⁶ Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and make a wall, that she shall not find her paths.

S21 ⁶ »Je n'aurai pas compassion de ses enfants,
car ce sont des enfants de prostitution.

WLC ⁶ וְאֶת־ בָּנֶ֖יהָ לֹ֣א אֲרַחֵ֑ם כִּֽי־ בְנֵ֥י זְנוּנִ֖ים הֵֽמָּה׃

KJV ⁷ And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.

S21 ⁷ Leur mère s'est prostituée,
celle qui les a conçus s'est déshonorée.
En effet, elle a dit: ‘Je veux suivre mes amants,
ceux qui me donnent mon pain et mon eau,
ma laine et mon lin,
mon huile et ma boisson.'

WLC ⁷ כִּ֤י זָֽנְתָה֙ אִמָּ֔ם הֹבִ֖ישָׁה הֽוֹרָתָ֑ם כִּ֣י אָמְרָ֗ה אֵלְכָ֞ה אַחֲרֵ֤י מְאַהֲבַי֙ נֹתְנֵ֤י לַחְמִי֙ וּמֵימַ֔י צַמְרִ֣י וּפִשְׁתִּ֔י שַׁמְנִ֖י וְשִׁקּוּיָֽי׃

KJV ⁸ For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal.

S21 ⁸ Voilà pourquoi je vais fermer son chemin avec des ronces
et y construire un mur afin qu'elle ne trouve plus ses sentiers:

WLC ⁸ לָכֵ֛ן הִנְנִי־ שָׂ֥ךְ אֶת־ דַּרְכֵּ֖ךְ בַּסִּירִ֑ים וְגָֽדַרְתִּי֙ אֶת־ גְּדֵרָ֔הּ וּנְתִיבוֹתֶ֖יהָ לֹ֥א תִמְצָֽא׃

KJV ⁹ Therefore will I return, and take away my corn in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and will recover my wool and my flax given to cover her nakedness.

S21 ⁹ elle aura beau poursuivre ses amants, elle ne les rejoindra pas;
elle aura beau les chercher, elle ne les trouvera pas.
Elle dira alors: ‘Je vais retourner vers mon premier mari,
car j'étais plus heureuse à ce moment-là que maintenant.'

WLC ⁹ וְרִדְּפָ֤ה אֶת־ מְאַהֲבֶ֙יהָ֙ וְלֹֽא־ תַשִּׂ֣יג אֹתָ֔ם וּבִקְשָׁ֖תַם וְלֹ֣א תִמְצָ֑א וְאָמְרָ֗ה אֵלְכָ֤ה וְאָשׁ֙וּבָה֙ אֶל־ אִישִׁ֣י הָֽרִאשׁ֔וֹן כִּ֣י ט֥וֹב לִ֛י אָ֖ז מֵעָֽתָּה׃

KJV ¹⁰ And now will I discover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of mine hand.

le blé, le vin nouveau et l'huile,
et l'on a consacré au service de Baal l'argent et l'or que je lui accordais en abondance.

KJV ¹¹ I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts.

prendre mon blé à son époque

KJV ¹² And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees, whereof she hath said, These are my rewards that my lovers have given me: and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall eat them.

et personne ne la délivrera de mon pouvoir.

WLC ¹² וְעַתָּ֛ה אֲגַלֶּ֥ה אֶת־ נַבְלֻתָ֖הּ לְעֵינֵ֣י מְאַהֲבֶ֑יהָ וְאִ֖ישׁ לֹֽא־ יַצִּילֶ֥נָּה מִיָּדִֽי׃

KJV ¹³ And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, wherein she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith the LORD.

ses fêtes, ses célébrations du début du mois, ses sabbats
et toutes ses fêtes solennelles.

WLC ¹³ וְהִשְׁבַּתִּי֙ כָּל־ מְשׂוֹשָׂ֔הּ חַגָּ֖הּ חָדְשָׁ֣הּ וְשַׁבַּתָּ֑הּ וְכֹ֖ל מוֹעֲדָֽהּ׃

KJV ¹⁴ Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her.

S21 ¹⁴ Je dévasterai ses vignes et ses figuiers,
eux dont elle disait:
‘Voilà le salaire que m'ont donné mes amants!'
J'en ferai une forêt
et les bêtes sauvages les dévoreront.

WLC ¹⁴ וַהֲשִׁמֹּתִ֗י גַּפְנָהּ֙ וּתְאֵ֣נָתָ֔הּ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אָמְרָ֗ה אֶתְנָ֥ה הֵ֙מָּה֙ לִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָֽתְנוּ־ לִ֖י מְאַֽהֲבָ֑י וְשַׂמְתִּ֣ים לְיַ֔עַר וַאֲכָלָ֖תַם חַיַּ֥ת הַשָּׂדֶֽה׃

KJV ¹⁵ And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

S21 ¹⁵ »J'interviendrai contre elle à cause des jours où elle faisait brûler de l'encens en l'honneur des Baals,
où elle se parait de ses anneaux et de ses colliers,
où elle suivait ses amants,
tandis que moi, elle m'oubliait, déclare l'Eternel.

WLC ¹⁵ וּפָקַדְתִּ֣י עָלֶ֗יהָ אֶת־ יְמֵ֤י הַבְּעָלִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תַּקְטִ֣יר לָהֶ֔ם וַתַּ֤עַד נִזְמָהּ֙ וְחֶלְיָתָ֔הּ וַתֵּ֖לֶךְ אַחֲרֵ֣י מְאַהֲבֶ֑יהָ וְאֹתִ֥י שָׁכְחָ֖ה נְאֻם־ יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ¹⁶ And it shall be at that day, saith the LORD, that thou shalt call me Ishi; and shalt call me no more Baali.

et la conduire au désert,
et je parlerai à son cœur.

KJV ¹⁷ For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.

et je ferai de la vallée d'Acor une porte d'espérance;
là, elle chantera comme à l'époque de sa jeunesse,
comme le jour où elle est sortie d'Egypte.

WLC ¹⁷ וְנָתַ֨תִּי לָ֤הּ אֶת־ כְּרָמֶ֙יהָ֙ מִשָּׁ֔ם וְאֶת־ עֵ֥מֶק עָכ֖וֹר לְפֶ֣תַח תִּקְוָ֑ה וְעָ֤נְתָה שָּׁ֙מָּה֙ כִּימֵ֣י נְעוּרֶ֔יהָ וִּכְי֖וֹם עֲלֹתָ֥הּ מֵאֶֽרֶץ־ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

KJV ¹⁸ And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely.

tu m'appelleras: ‘Mon mari'
et tu ne m'appelleras plus: ‘Mon maître!'

WLC ¹⁸ וְהָיָ֤ה בַיּוֹם־ הַהוּא֙ נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֔ה תִּקְרְאִ֖י אִישִׁ֑י וְלֹֽא־ תִקְרְאִי־ לִ֥י ע֖וֹד בַּעְלִֽי׃

KJV ¹⁹ And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.

si bien qu'on ne se souviendra même plus de leur nom.

WLC ¹⁹ וַהֲסִרֹתִ֛י אֶת־ שְׁמ֥וֹת הַבְּעָלִ֖ים מִפִּ֑יהָ וְלֹֽא־ יִזָּכְר֥וּ ע֖וֹד בִּשְׁמָֽם׃

KJV ²⁰ I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD.

S21 ²⁰ Ce jour-là, je conclurai pour eux une alliance
avec les bêtes sauvages, les oiseaux du ciel
et les reptiles de la terre;
je briserai dans le pays l'arc, l'épée et la guerre,
et je les ferai reposer en sécurité.

KJV ²¹ And it shall come to pass in that day, I will hear, saith the LORD, I will hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth;

Je te fiancerai à moi par la justice, la droiture,
la bonté et la compassion,

WLC ²¹ וְאֵרַשְׂתִּ֥יךְ לִ֖י לְעוֹלָ֑ם וְאֵרַשְׂתִּ֥יךְ לִי֙ בְּצֶ֣דֶק וּבְמִשְׁפָּ֔ט וּבְחֶ֖סֶד וּֽבְרַחֲמִֽים׃

KJV ²² And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel.

S21 ²² je te fiancerai à moi par la fidélité,
et tu connaîtras l'Eternel.

WLC ²² וְאֵרַשְׂתִּ֥יךְ לִ֖י בֶּאֱמוּנָ֑ה וְיָדַ֖עַתְּ אֶת־ יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ²³ And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.

je répondrai au ciel
et il répondra à la terre;

KJV ¹ Then said the LORD unto me, Go yet, love a woman beloved of her friend, yet an adulteress, according to the love of the LORD toward the children of Israel, who look to other gods, and love flagons of wine.

KJV ³ And I said unto her, Thou shalt abide for me many days; thou shalt not play the harlot, and thou shalt not be for another man: so will I also be for thee.

S21 ³ Je lui ai dit: «Tu resteras longtemps à moi, sans te livrer à la prostitution ni appartenir à aucun homme, et j'agirai de même envers toi.»

WLC ³ וָאֹמַ֣ר אֵלֶ֗יהָ יָמִ֤ים רַבִּים֙ תֵּ֣שְׁבִי לִ֔י לֹ֣א תִזְנִ֔י וְלֹ֥א תִֽהְיִ֖י לְאִ֑ישׁ וְגַם־ אֲנִ֖י אֵלָֽיִךְ׃

KJV ⁴ For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and without teraphim:

S21 ⁴ En effet, les Israélites resteront longtemps sans roi, sans chef, sans sacrifice, sans statue, sans éphod et sans théraphim.

WLC ⁴ כִּ֣י ׀ יָמִ֣ים רַבִּ֗ים יֵֽשְׁבוּ֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֵ֥ין מֶ֙לֶךְ֙ וְאֵ֣ין שָׂ֔ר וְאֵ֥ין זֶ֖בַח וְאֵ֣ין מַצֵּבָ֑ה וְאֵ֥ין אֵפ֖וֹד וּתְרָפִֽים׃

KJV ⁵ Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the latter days.

S21 ⁵ Après cela, les Israélites reviendront. Ils rechercheront l'Eternel, leur Dieu, et David, leur roi, et ils retourneront en tremblant vers l'Eternel et vers sa bienveillance, dans l'avenir.

KJV ¹ Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

S21 ¹ Ecoutez la parole de l'Eternel, Israélites,
car l'Eternel a un procès avec les habitants du pays:
il n'y a pas de vérité, pas de bonté,
pas de connaissance de Dieu dans le pays.

KJV ² By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.

S21 ² Il n'y a que parjures et mensonges,
assassinats, vols et adultères.
On recourt à la violence, on commet meurtre sur meurtre.

KJV ³ Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.

S21 ³ C'est pourquoi le pays sera dans le deuil;
tous ceux qui l'habitent seront abattus,
de même que les bêtes sauvages et les oiseaux du ciel;
même les poissons de la mer disparaîtront.

KJV ⁴ Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest.

S21 ⁴ Mais que personne ne conteste, que personne ne se livre aux reproches!
En effet, ton peuple est pareil à ceux qui se querellent avec les prêtres.

WLC ⁴ אַ֥ךְ אִ֛ישׁ אַל־ יָרֵ֖ב וְאַל־ יוֹכַ֣ח אִ֑ישׁ וְעַמְּךָ֖ כִּמְרִיבֵ֥י כֹהֵֽן׃

KJV ⁵ Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.

S21 ⁵ Tu trébucheras de jour,
le prophète avec toi trébuchera de nuit
et je détruirai ta mère.

WLC ⁵ וְכָשַׁלְתָּ֣ הַיּ֔וֹם וְכָשַׁ֧ל גַּם־ נָבִ֛יא עִמְּךָ֖ לָ֑יְלָה וְדָמִ֖יתִי אִמֶּֽךָ׃

KJV ⁶ My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

S21 ⁶ Mon peuple est détruit parce qu'il lui manque la connaissance.
Puisque tu as rejeté la connaissance,
je te rejetterai: tu ne pourras plus exercer la fonction de prêtre pour moi.
De même que tu as oublié la loi de ton Dieu,
j'oublierai aussi tes enfants.

KJV ⁷ As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.

S21 ⁷ Plus ils se sont multipliés, plus ils ont péché contre moi.
Je changerai leur gloire en honte.

KJV ⁸ They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.

ils sont avides de ses fautes.

KJV ⁹ And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.

KJV ¹¹ Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.

KJV ¹² My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.

S21 ¹² Mon peuple consulte son bois,
et c'est son bâton qui lui parle!
En effet, l'esprit de prostitution égare,
et ils se prostituent loin de leur Dieu.

WLC ¹² עַמִּי֙ בְּעֵצ֣וֹ יִשְׁאָ֔ל וּמַקְל֖וֹ יַגִּ֣יד ל֑וֹ כִּ֣י ר֤וּחַ זְנוּנִים֙ הִתְעָ֔ה וַיִּזְנ֖וּ מִתַּ֥חַת אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃

KJV ¹³ They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.

ils font brûler de l'encens sur les collines,
sous les chênes, les peupliers, les térébinthes
dont l'ombrage est agréable.
C'est pourquoi vos filles se prostituent
et vos belles-filles sont adultères.

KJV ¹⁴ I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall.

S21 ¹⁴ Je ne punirai pas vos filles parce qu'elles se prostituent,
ni vos belles-filles parce qu'elles sont adultères.
En effet, eux-mêmes vont à l'écart avec des prostituées
et sacrifient avec des femmes débauchées.
Le peuple sans intelligence court à sa perte.

KJV ¹⁵ Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Bethaven, nor swear, The LORD liveth.

que Juda ne se rende pas coupable!
N'allez pas à Guilgal, ne montez pas à Beth-Aven

KJV ¹⁶ For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place.

KJV ¹⁷ Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.

S21 ¹⁷ Ephraïm est attaché aux idoles? Laisse-le!

KJV ¹⁸ Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye.

KJV ¹⁹ The wind hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.

KJV ² And the revolters are profound to make slaughter, though I have been a rebuker of them all.

KJV ⁴ They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God: for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they have not known the LORD.

parce que l'esprit de prostitution est au milieu d'eux

WLC ⁴ לֹ֤א יִתְּנוּ֙ מַ֣עַלְלֵיהֶ֔ם לָשׁ֖וּב אֶל־ אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֑ם כִּ֣י ר֤וּחַ זְנוּנִים֙ בְּקִרְבָּ֔ם וְאֶת־ יְהוָ֖ה לֹ֥א יָדָֽעוּ׃

KJV ⁵ And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity: Judah also shall fall with them.

S21 ⁵ L'orgueil d'Israël témoigne contre lui:
Israël et Ephraïm trébucheront par leur faute;

KJV ⁶ They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the LORD; but they shall not find him; he hath withdrawn himself from them.

S21 ⁶ Ils iront avec leurs brebis et leurs bœufs rechercher l'Eternel,
mais ils ne le trouveront pas:
il s'est éloigné d'eux.

WLC ⁶ בְּצֹאנָ֣ם וּבִבְקָרָ֗ם יֵֽלְכ֛וּ לְבַקֵּ֥שׁ אֶת־ יְהוָ֖ה וְלֹ֣א יִמְצָ֑אוּ חָלַ֖ץ מֵהֶֽם׃

KJV ⁷ They have dealt treacherously against the LORD: for they have begotten strange children: now shall a month devour them with their portions.

S21 ⁷ Ils ont été infidèles à l'Eternel,
car ils ont donné naissance à des enfants illégitimes;
maintenant, un mois suffira pour les détruire avec leurs biens.

KJV ⁹ Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be.

KJV ¹⁰ The princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound: therefore I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.

KJV ¹⁴ For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue him.

comme un lionceau pour la communauté de Juda.
Moi, moi, je déchirerai, puis je m'en irai,
j'emporterai ma proie sans personne pour la délivrer.

KJV ¹⁵ I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.

S21 ¹⁵ Je m'en irai, je reviendrai à ma place,
jusqu'à ce qu'ils s'avouent coupables et recherchent ma présence.

KJV ¹ Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

S21 ¹ «Venez, retournons à l'Eternel!
En effet, il a déchiré, mais il nous guérira,
il a frappé, mais il bandera nos plaies.

KJV ² After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

KJV ³ Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

S21 ³ Connaissons, cherchons à connaître l'Eternel!
Sa venue est aussi certaine que celle de l'aurore.
Il viendra pour nous comme la pluie,
comme la dernière pluie qui arrose la terre.»

KJV ⁴ O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee? for your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goeth away.

KJV ⁷ But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.

ils commettent des assassinats sur le chemin de Sichem.

KJV ¹⁰ I have seen an horrible thing in the house of Israel: there is the whoredom of Ephraim, Israel is defiled.

là Ephraïm se prostitue, Israël se rend impur.

KJV ¹¹ Also, O Judah, he hath set an harvest for thee, when I returned the captivity of my people.

KJV ¹ When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria: for they commit falsehood; and the thief cometh in, and the troop of robbers spoileth without.

que je me souviens de toute leur méchanceté.

KJV ³ They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.

S21 ³ Ils réjouissent le roi par leur méchanceté,
et les chefs par leurs mensonges.

WLC ³ בְּרָעָתָ֖ם יְשַׂמְּחוּ־ מֶ֑לֶךְ וּבְכַחֲשֵׁיהֶ֖ם שָׂרִֽים׃

KJV ⁴ They are all adulterers, as an oven heated by the baker, who ceaseth from raising after he hath kneaded the dough, until it be leavened.

KJV ⁵ In the day of our king the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scorners.

les chefs se rendent malades par les excès du vin;
le roi tend la main aux moqueurs.

WLC ⁵ י֣וֹם מַלְכֵּ֔נוּ הֶחֱל֥וּ שָׂרִ֖ים חֲמַ֣ת מִיָּ֑יִן מָשַׁ֥ךְ יָד֖וֹ אֶת־ לֹצְצִֽים׃

KJV ⁶ For they have made ready their heart like an oven, whiles they lie in wait: their baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.

S21 ⁶ Quand ils se mettent à comploter, leur cœur est pareil à un four:
toute la nuit leur boulanger a dormi,
et le matin le four brûle comme un feu violent.

KJV ⁷ They are all hot as an oven, and have devoured their judges; all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.

tous leurs rois tombent.

KJV ⁸ Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned.

KJV ⁹ Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.

la vieillesse s'empare de lui,

KJV ¹⁰ And the pride of Israel testifieth to his face: and they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this.

KJV ¹¹ Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.

ils implorent l'Egypte, ils vont en Assyrie.

KJV ¹² When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.

je les corrigerai, comme ils en ont été avertis dans leur assemblée.

KJV ¹⁴ And they have not cried unto me with their heart, when they howled upon their beds: they assemble themselves for corn and wine, and they rebel against me.

KJV ¹⁵ Though I have bound and strengthened their arms, yet do they imagine mischief against me.

S21 ¹⁵ Je les ai corrigés, j'ai fortifié leurs bras,
et ils méditent le mal contre moi.

KJV ¹⁶ They return, but not to the most High: they are like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.

S21 ¹⁶ Ce n'est pas au Très-Haut qu'ils retournent;
ils sont pareils à un arc trompeur.
Leurs chefs tomberont par l'épée
à cause de l'insolence de leur propos.
C'est ce qui fera d'eux un objet de moquerie en Egypte.

S21 ²⁴ la terre répondra au blé, au vin nouveau et à l'huile,
et ils répondront à Jizreel.

WLC ²⁴ וְהָאָ֣רֶץ תַּעֲנֶ֔ה אֶת־ הַדָּגָ֖ן וְאֶת־ הַתִּיר֣וֹשׁ וְאֶת־ הַיִּצְהָ֑ר וְהֵ֖ם יַעֲנ֥וּ אֶֽת־ יִזְרְעֶֽאל׃

S21 ²⁵ *Je planterai Lo-Ruchama pour moi dans le pays
et j'aurai compassion d'elle.
Je dirai à Lo-Ammi: ‘Tu es mon peuple!' 
et il répondra: ‘Mon Dieu!'»
