KJV ¹ Now these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob.

KJV ⁶ And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.

KJV ⁷ And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.

KJV ⁸ Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.

MAR ⁸ Depuis il s'éleva un nouveau Roi sur l'Egypte, lequel n'avait point connu Joseph.

KJV ⁹ And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:

MAR ⁹ Et il dit à son peuple : voici, le peuple des enfants d'Israël est plus grand et plus puissant que nous.

KJV ¹⁰ Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.

MAR ¹⁰ Agissons donc prudemment avec lui, de peur qu'il ne se multiplie, et que s'il arrivait quelque guerre il ne se joignît à nos ennemis, et ne fît la guerre contre nous, et qu'il ne s'en allât du pays.

KJV ¹¹ Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.

MAR ¹¹ Ils établirent donc sur le peuple des Commissaires d'impôts pour l'affliger en le surchargeant ; car le [peuple] bâtit des villes fortes à Pharaon, [savoir] Pithom et Rahamsès.

KJV ¹² But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.

KJV ¹³ And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:

KJV ¹⁴ And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.

MAR ¹⁴ Tellement qu'ils leur rendirent la vie amère par une rude servitude, [en les employant] à faire du mortier, des briques, et toute sorte d'ouvrage qui se fait aux champs ; tout le service qu'on tirait d'eux [était] avec rigueur.

KJV ¹⁵ And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah:

MAR ¹⁵ Le Roi d'Egypte commanda aussi aux sages-femmes Hébreues, dont l'une avait nom Siphra, et l'autre avait nom Puha ;

KJV ¹⁶ And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.

MAR ¹⁶ Et leur dit : quand vous recevrez les enfants des femmes des Hébreux, et que vous les verrez sur les siéges, si c'est un fils, mettez-le à mort ; mais si c'est une fille, qu'elle vive.

KJV ¹⁷ But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

MAR ¹⁷ Mais les sages-femmes craignirent Dieu, et ne firent pas ainsi que le Roi d'Egypte leur avait dit ; car elles laissèrent vivre les fils.

KJV ¹⁸ And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?

MAR ¹⁸ Alors le Roi d'Egypte appela les sages-femmes, et leur dit : pourquoi avez-vous fait cela, d'avoir laissé vivre les fils ?

KJV ¹⁹ And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.

MAR ¹⁹ Et les sages-femmes répondirent à Pharaon : parce que les Hébreues ne sont point comme les femmes Egyptiennes ; car elles sont vigoureuses, [et] elles ont accouché avant que la sage-femme soit arrivée chez elle.

KJV ²⁰ Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.

MAR ²⁰ Et Dieu fit du bien aux sages-femmes, et le peuple multiplia, et devint très puissant.

KJV ²¹ And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.

MAR ²¹ Et parce que les sages-femmes craignirent Dieu, il leur édifia des maisons.

KJV ²² And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.

KJV ¹ And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.

KJV ² And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.

MAR ² Laquelle conçut et enfanta un fils, et voyant qu'il était beau, elle le cacha pendant trois mois.

KJV ³ And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink.

MAR ³ Mais ne le pouvant tenir caché plus longtemps, elle prit un coffret de joncs, et l'enduisit de bitume et de poix, et mit l'enfant dedans, et le posa parmi des roseaux sur le bord du fleuve.

KJV ⁴ And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.

MAR ⁴ Et la soeur de cet [enfant] se tenait loin pour savoir ce qu'il en arriverait.

KJV ⁵ And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.

MAR ⁵ Or la fille de Pharaon descendit à la rivière, pour se baigner, et ses filles se promenaient sur le bord de la rivière, et ayant vu le coffret au milieu des roseaux, elle envoya une de ses servantes pour le prendre.

KJV ⁶ And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children.

MAR ⁶ Et l'ayant ouvert, elle vit l'enfant, et voici, l'enfant pleurait ; et elle en fut touchée de compassion, et dit : c'est un des enfants de ces Hébreux.

KJV ⁷ Then said his sister to Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?

MAR ⁷ Alors la soeur [de l'enfant] dit à la fille de Pharaon : irai-je appeler une femme d'entre les Hébreues, qui allaite, et elle t'allaitera cet enfant ?

KJV ⁸ And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child's mother.

MAR ⁸ Et la fille de Pharaon lui répondit : Va ; et la jeune fille s'en alla, et appela la mère de l'enfant.

KJV ⁹ And Pharaoh's daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the women took the child, and nursed it.

MAR ⁹ Et la fille de Pharaon lui dit : emporte cet enfant, et me l'allaite, et je te donnerai ton salaire ; et la femme prit l'enfant et l'allaita.

KJV ¹⁰ And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.

KJV ¹¹ And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.

KJV ¹³ And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?

MAR ¹³ Il sortit encore le second jour, et voici, deux hommes Hébreux se querellaient ; et il dit à celui qui avait tort : pourquoi frappes-tu ton prochain ?

KJV ¹⁴ And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.

MAR ¹⁴ Lequel répondit : qui t'a établi Prince et Juge sur nous ? veux-tu me tuer, comme tu as tué l'Egyptien ? et Moïse craignit, et dit : certainement le fait est connu.

KJV ¹⁵ Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.

MAR ¹⁵ Or Pharaon ayant appris ce fait-là, chercha de faire mourir Moïse, mais Moïse s'enfuit de devant Pharaon, et s'arrêta au pays de Madian, et s'assit près d'un puits.

KJV ¹⁶ Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters: and they came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father's flock.

MAR ¹⁶ Or le Sacrificateur de Madian avait sept filles, qui vinrent puiser de l'eau, et elles emplirent les auges pour abreuver le troupeau de leur père.

KJV ¹⁷ And the shepherds came and drove them away: but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.

KJV ¹⁸ And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that ye are come so soon to day?

KJV ¹⁹ And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock.

MAR ¹⁹ Elles répondirent : un homme Egyptien nous a délivrées de la main des bergers ; et même il nous a puisé abondamment de l'eau, et a abreuvé le troupeau.

KJV ²⁰ And he said unto his daughters, And where is he? why is it that ye have left the man? call him, that he may eat bread.

MAR ²⁰ Et il dit à ses filles : où est-il ? pourquoi avez-vous ainsi laissé cet homme ? appelez-le, et qu'il mange du pain.

KJV ²¹ And Moses was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter.

MAR ²¹ Et Moïse s'accorda de demeurer avec cet homme-là, qui donna Séphora sa fille à Moïse.

KJV ²² And she bare him a son, and he called his name Gershom: for he said, I have been a stranger in a strange land.

MAR ²² Et elle enfanta un fils, et il le nomma Guersom ; à cause, dit-il, que j'ai séjourné dans un pays étranger.

KJV ²³ And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.

KJV ²⁴ And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

KJV ²⁵ And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them.

KJV ¹ Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.

MAR ¹ Or Moïse fut berger du troupeau de Jéthro son beau-père, Sacrificateur de Madian ; et menant le troupeau derrière le désert, il vint en la montagne de Dieu jusqu'en Horeb.

KJV ² And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

MAR ² Et l'Ange de l'Eternel lui apparut dans une flamme de feu, du milieu d'un buisson, et il regarda, et voici, le buisson était tout en feu, et le buisson ne se consumait point.

KJV ³ And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.

MAR ³ Alors Moïse dit : je me détournerai maintenant, et je regarderai cette grande vision, pourquoi le buisson ne se consume point.

KJV ⁴ And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

KJV ⁵ And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

MAR ⁵ Et [Dieu] dit: n'approche point d'ici ; déchausse tes souliers de tes pieds, car le lieu où tu es arrêté, est une terre sainte.

KJV ⁶ Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

MAR ⁶ Il dit aussi : je suis le Dieu de ton père, le Dieu d'Abraham, le Dieu d'Isaac, et le Dieu de Jacob ; et Moïse cacha son visage, parce qu'il craignait de regarder vers Dieu.

KJV ⁷ And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;

MAR ⁷ Et l'Eternel dit : j'ai très-bien vu l'affliction de mon peuple qui est en Egypte, et j'ai ouï le cri qu'ils ont jeté à cause de leurs exacteurs, car j'ai connu leurs douleurs.

KJV ⁸ And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

MAR ⁸ C'est pourquoi je suis descendu pour le délivrer de la main des Egyptiens, et pour le faire remonter de ce pays-là, en un pays bon et spacieux, en un pays découlant de lait et de miel ; au lieu où sont les Chananéens, les Héthiens, les Amorrhéens, les Phérésiens, les Héviens, et les Jébusiens.

KJV ⁹ Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.

KJV ¹⁰ Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.

KJV ¹³ And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?

KJV ¹⁴ And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

KJV ¹⁵ And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

KJV ¹⁶ Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt:

KJV ¹⁷ And I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a land flowing with milk and honey.

KJV ¹⁸ And they shall hearken to thy voice: and thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, we beseech thee, three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.

MAR ¹⁸ Et ils obéiront à ta parole, et tu iras, toi et les anciens d'Israël, vers le Roi d'Egypte, et vous lui direz : l'Eternel le Dieu des Hébreux nous est venu rencontrer ; maintenant donc nous te prions que nous allions le chemin de trois jours au désert, et que nous sacrifiions à l'Eternel notre Dieu.

KJV ¹⁹ And I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand.

KJV ²⁰ And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go.

KJV ²¹ And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty.

KJV ²² But every woman shall borrow of her neighbour, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil the Egyptians.

KJV ² And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.

KJV ³ And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.

MAR ³ Et [Dieu lui] dit : jette-la par terre ; et il la jeta par terre, et elle devint un serpent. Et Moïse s'enfuyait de devant lui.

KJV ⁴ And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:

MAR ⁴ Et l'Eternel dit à Moïse : étends ta main, et saisis sa queue ; et il étendit sa main, et l'empoigna ; et il redevint une verge en sa main.

KJV ⁵ That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.

MAR ⁵ Et [cela], afin qu'ils croient que l'Eternel, le Dieu de leurs pères, le Dieu d'Abraham, le Dieu d'Isaac, et le Dieu de Jacob, t'est apparu.

KJV ⁶ And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow.

MAR ⁶ L'Eternel lui dit encore : mets maintenant ta main dans ton sein, et il mit sa main dans son sein ; puis il la tira ; et voici, sa main [était blanche] de lèpre comme la neige.

KJV ⁷ And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh.

MAR ⁷ Et [Dieu lui] dit : remets ta main dans ton sein ; et il remit sa main dans son sein ; puis il la retira hors de son sein ; et voici, elle était redevenue comme son autre chair.

KJV ⁸ And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.

MAR ⁸ Mais s'il arrive qu'ils ne te croient point, et qu'ils n'obéissent point à la voix du premier signe, ils croiront à la voix du second signe.

KJV ⁹ And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.

MAR ⁹ Et s'il arrive qu'ils ne croient point à ces deux signes, et qu'ils n'obéissent point à ta parole, tu prendras de l'eau du fleuve, et tu la répandras sur la terre, et les eaux que tu auras prises du fleuve, deviendront du sang sur la terre.

KJV ¹⁰ And Moses said unto the LORD, O my LORD, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.

MAR ¹⁰ Et Moïse répondit à l'Eternel : hélas, Seigneur ! Je ne [suis] point un homme qui ait ni d'hier, ni de devant hier, la parole aisée, même depuis que tu as parlé à ton serviteur ; car j'ai la bouche et la langue empêchées.

KJV ¹¹ And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?

MAR ¹¹ Et l'Eternel lui dit : qui [est-ce] qui a fait la bouche de l'homme ? ou qui a fait le muet, ou le sourd, ou le voyant, ou l'aveugle ? n'est-ce pas moi, l'Eternel ?

KJV ¹² Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.

MAR ¹² Va donc maintenant, et je serai avec ta bouche, et je t'enseignerai ce que tu auras à dire.

KJV ¹³ And he said, O my LORD, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.

MAR ¹³ Et [Moïse] répondit : hélas ! Seigneur, envoie, je te prie, celui que tu dois envoyer.

KJV ¹⁴ And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.

MAR ¹⁴ Et la colère de l'Eternel s'embrasa contre Moïse, et il lui dit : Aaron le Lévite n'est-il pas ton frère ? je sais qu'il parlera très-bien, et même le voilà qui sort à ta rencontre, et quand il te verra, il se réjouira dans son coeur.

KJV ¹⁵ And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.

MAR ¹⁵ Tu lui parleras donc et tu mettras ces paroles en sa bouche ; et je serai avec ta bouche et avec la sienne, et je vous enseignerai ce que vous aurez à faire.

KJV ¹⁶ And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God.

MAR ¹⁶ Et il parlera pour toi au peuple, et ainsi il te sera pour bouche, et tu lui seras pour Dieu.

KJV ¹⁷ And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.

MAR ¹⁷ Tu prendras aussi en ta main cette verge, avec laquelle tu feras ces signes-là.

KJV ¹⁸ And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.

MAR ¹⁸ Ainsi Moïse s'en alla, et retourna vers Jéthro son beau-père, et lui dit : je te prie, que je m'en aille, et que je retourne vers mes frères qui [sont] en Egypte, pour voir s'ils vivent encore. Et Jéthro lui dit : Va en paix.

KJV ¹⁹ And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life.

MAR ¹⁹ Or l'Eternel dit à Moïse au pays de Madian : Va, [et] retourne en Egypte ; car tous ceux qui cherchaient ta vie sont morts.

KJV ²⁰ And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.

MAR ²⁰ Ainsi Moïse prit sa femme, et ses fils, et les mit sur un âne, et retourna au pays d'Egypte. Moïse prit aussi la verge de Dieu en sa main.

KJV ²¹ And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.

MAR ²¹ Et L'Eternel avait dit à Moïse : quand tu t'en iras pour retourner en Egypte, tu prendras garde à tous les miracles que j'ai mis en ta main ; et tu les feras devant Pharaon ; mais j'endurcirai son coeur, et il ne laissera point aller le peuple.

KJV ²² And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:

MAR ²² Tu diras donc à Pharaon, ainsi a dit L'Eternel : Israël est mon fils, mon premier-né.

KJV ²³ And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.

MAR ²³ Et je t'ai dit : laisse aller mon fils, afin qu'il me serve ; mais tu as refusé de le laisser aller. Voici, je m'en vais tuer ton fils, ton premier-né.

KJV ²⁴ And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.

MAR ²⁴ Or il arriva que [comme Moïse était] en chemin dans l'hôtellerie, l'Eternel le rencontra, et chercha de le faire mourir.

KJV ²⁵ Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.

MAR ²⁵ Et Séphora prit un couteau tranchant, et en coupa le prépuce de son fils, et le jeta à ses pieds, et dit : certes tu m'[es] un époux de sang.

KJV ²⁶ So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.

MAR ²⁶ Alors [l'Eternel] se retira de lui ; et elle dit : époux de sang ; à cause de la circoncision.

KJV ²⁷ And the LORD said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him in the mount of God, and kissed him.

MAR ²⁷ Et l'Eternel dit à Aaron : va-t'en au devant de Moïse au désert. Il y alla donc, et le rencontra en la montagne de Dieu et le baisa.

KJV ²⁸ And Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD who had sent him, and all the signs which he had commanded him.

MAR ²⁸ Et Moïse raconta à Aaron toutes les paroles de l'Eternel qui l'avait envoyé, et tous les signes qu'il lui avait commandés [de faire].

KJV ²⁹ And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel:

MAR ²⁹ Moïse donc poursuivit son chemin avec Aaron ; et ils assemblèrent tous les anciens des enfants d'Israël.

KJV ³⁰ And Aaron spake all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.

MAR ³⁰ Et Aaron dit toutes les paroles que l'Eternel avait dit à Moïse ; et fit les signes devant les yeux du peuple.

KJV ³¹ And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.

MAR ³¹ Et le peuple crut ; et ils apprirent que l'Eternel avait visité les enfants d'Israël, et qu'il avait vu leur affliction ; et ils s'inclinèrent, et se prosternèrent.

KJV ¹ And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.

MAR ¹ Après cela Moïse et Aaron s'en allèrent et dirent à Pharaon : ainsi a dit l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël ; laisse aller mon peuple, afin qu'il me célèbre une fête solennelle dans le désert.

KJV ² And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.

MAR ² Mais Pharaon dit : qui est l'Eternel, pour que j'obéisse à sa voix et que je laisse aller Israël ? Je ne connais point l'Eternel, et je ne laisserai point aller Israël.

KJV ³ And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.

MAR ³ Et ils dirent : le Dieu des Hébreux est venu au-devant de nous. Nous te prions que nous allions le chemin de trois jours au désert, et que nous sacrifiions à l'Eternel notre Dieu ; de peur qu'il ne se jette sur nous par la mortalité, ou par l'épée.

KJV ⁴ And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? get you unto your burdens.

MAR ⁴ Et le Roi d'Egypte leur dit : Moïse et Aaron, pourquoi détournez-vous le peuple de son ouvrage ? Allez maintenant à vos charges.

KJV ⁵ And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye make them rest from their burdens.

MAR ⁵ Pharaon dit aussi : voici, le peuple de ce pays est maintenant en grand nombre, et vous les faites chômer de leur travail.

KJV ⁶ And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,

MAR ⁶ Et Pharaon commanda ce jour-là aux exacteurs [établis] sur le peuple, et à ses Commissaires, en disant :

KJV ⁷ Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves.

MAR ⁷ Vous ne donnerez plus de paille à ce peuple pour faire des briques, comme auparavant ; [mais] qu'ils aillent, et qu'ils s'amassent de la paille.

KJV ⁸ And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.

MAR ⁸ Néanmoins vous leur imposerez la quantité des briques qu'ils faisaient auparavant, sans en rien diminuer ; car ils sont gens de loisir, et c'est pour cela qu'ils crient, en disant : allons, [et] sacrifions à notre Dieu.

KJV ⁹ Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.

MAR ⁹ Que la servitude soit aggravée sur ces gens-là, et qu'ils s'occupent, et ne s'amusent plus à des paroles de mensonge.

KJV ¹⁰ And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw.

MAR ¹⁰ Alors les exacteurs du peuple, et ses Commissaires sortirent, et dirent au peuple : ainsi a dit Pharaon : je ne vous donnerai plus de paille.

KJV ¹¹ Go ye, get you straw where ye can find it: yet not ought of your work shall be diminished.

MAR ¹¹ Allez vous-mêmes [et] prenez de la paille où vous en trouverez ; mais il ne [sera] rien diminué de votre travail.

KJV ¹² So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw.

MAR ¹² Alors le peuple se répandit par tout le pays d'Egypte, pour amasser du chaume au lieu de paille.

KJV ¹³ And the taskmasters hasted them, saying, Fulfil your works, your daily tasks, as when there was straw.

MAR ¹³ Et les exacteurs les pressaient, en disant : achevez vos ouvrages, chaque jour sa tâche, comme quand la paille vous était [fournie].

KJV ¹⁴ And the officers of the children of Israel, which Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task in making brick both yesterday and to day, as heretofore?

MAR ¹⁴ Même les Commissaires des enfants d'Israël, que les exacteurs de Pharaon avaient établis sur eux, furent battus, [et on leur] dit : pourquoi n'avez-vous point achevé votre tâche en faisant des briques hier et aujourd'hui, comme auparavant ?

KJV ¹⁵ Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants?

MAR ¹⁵ Alors les Commissaires des enfants d'Israël vinrent crier à Pharaon, en disant : pourquoi fais-tu ainsi à tes serviteurs ?

KJV ¹⁶ There is no straw given unto thy servants, and they say to us, Make brick: and, behold, thy servants are beaten; but the fault is in thine own people.

MAR ¹⁶ On ne donne point de paille à tes serviteurs, et toutefois on nous dit : faites des briques ; et voici, tes serviteurs sont battus, et ton peuple est traité comme coupable.

KJV ¹⁷ But he said, Ye are idle, ye are idle: therefore ye say, Let us go and do sacrifice to the LORD.

MAR ¹⁷ Et il répondit : vous êtes de loisir, [vous êtes] de loisir ; c'est pourquoi vous dites : allons, sacrifions à l'Eternel.

KJV ¹⁸ Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks.

MAR ¹⁸ Maintenant donc allez, travaillez ; car on ne vous donnera point de paille, et vous rendrez la même quantité de briques.

KJV ¹⁹ And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in evil case, after it was said, Ye shall not minish ought from your bricks of your daily task.

MAR ¹⁹ Et les Commissaires des enfants d'Israël virent qu'ils étaient dans un mauvais état, puisqu'on disait : vous ne diminuerez rien de vos briques sur la tâche de chaque jour.

KJV ²⁰ And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh:

MAR ²⁰ Et en sortant de devant Pharaon ils rencontrèrent Moïse et Aaron, qui se trouvèrent au-devant d'eux.

KJV ²¹ And they said unto them, The LORD look upon you, and judge; because ye have made our savour to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.

MAR ²¹ Et ils leur dirent : que l'Eternel vous regarde, et en juge, vu que vous nous avez mis en mauvaise odeur devant Pharaon et devant ses serviteurs, leur mettant l'épée à la main pour nous tuer.

KJV ²² And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, LORD, wherefore hast thou so evil entreated this people? why is it that thou hast sent me?

MAR ²² Alors Moïse retourna vers l'Eternel, et dit : Seigneur ! pourquoi as-tu fait maltraiter ce peuple ? pourquoi m'as-tu envoyé ?

KJV ²³ For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done evil to this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all.

MAR ²³ Car depuis que je suis venu vers Pharaon pour parler en ton nom, il a maltraité ce peuple, et tu n'as point délivré ton peuple.
