KJV ¹⁷ So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

BCC ¹⁸ Or la naissance de Jésus-Christ arriva ainsi. Marie, sa mère, ayant été fiancée à Joseph, il se trouva, avant qu'ils eussent habité ensemble, qu'elle avait conçu par la vertu du Saint-Esprit.

KJV ¹⁸ Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

KJV ³ When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

BCC ⁴ Il assembla tous les grands prêtres et les scribes du peuple, et il s'enquit auprès d'eux où devait naître le Christ. Ils lui dirent :

KJV ⁴ And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.

BCC ⁵ "À Bethléem de Judée, car ainsi a-t-il été écrit par le prophète :

KJV ⁵ And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,

BCC ⁶ Et toi, Bethléem, terre de Juda, tu n'es pas la moindre parmi les principales villes de Juda, car de toi sortira un chef qui paîtra Israël, mon peuple."

KJV ⁶ And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

BCC ⁷ Alors Hérode, ayant fait venir secrètement les mages, s'enquit avec soin auprès d'eux du temps où l'étoile était apparue.

KJV ⁷ Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.

KJV ¹³ And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

BCC ⁷ Voyant un grand nombre de Pharisiens et de Sadducéens venir à son baptême, il leur dit : "race de vipères, qui vous a appris à fuir la colère qui vient ?

KJV ⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

BCC ⁸ Faites donc de dignes fruits de repentir.

KJV ⁸ Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

KJV ⁵ Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

BCC ⁶ il lui dit : "si vous êtes fils de Dieu, jetez-vous en bas ; car il est écrit : Il donnera pour vous des ordres à ses anges, et ils vous prendront sur leurs mains, de peur que votre pied ne heurte contre une pierre."

KJV ⁶ And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

KJV ¹⁵ The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

BCC ¹⁶ Le peuple qui était assis dans les ténèbres a vu une grande lumière ; et pour ceux qui étaient assis dans la région de l'ombre de la mort, une lumière s'est levée !

KJV ¹⁶ The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

KJV ¹¹ Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

BCC ²⁹ Si donc ton oeil droit est pour toi une occasion de chute, arrache-le et jette-le loin de toi : car mieux vaut pour toi qu'un seul de tes membres périsse, et que ton corps tout entier ne soit pas jeté dans la géhenne.

KJV ²⁹ And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

KJV ⁴⁵ That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

BCC ⁴⁶ Si en effet vous aimez ceux qui vous aiment, quelle récompense méritez-vous ? Les publicains eux-mêmes n'en font-ils pas autant ?

BCC ²³ Mais si la lumière qui est en toi est ténèbres, quelles ténèbres !

KJV ²³ But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

BCC ²⁴ Nul ne peut servir deux maîtres : car ou il haïra l'un et aimera l'autre, ou il s'attachera à l'un et méprisera l'autre. Vous ne pouvez servir Dieu et la Richesse.

KJV ²⁴ No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

BCC ²⁵ C'est pourquoi je vous dis : Ne vous inquiétez pas pour votre âme de ce que vous mangerez ou de ce que vous boirez, ni pour votre corps de quoi vous le vêtirez. L'âme n'est-elle pas plus que la nourriture, et le corps plus que le vêtement ?

KJV ²⁵ Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

BCC ²⁶ Regardez les oiseaux du ciel, qui ne sèment ni ne moissonnent et n'amassent rien dans des greniers, et votre Père céleste les nourrit. Ne valez-vous pas beaucoup plus qu'eux ?

KJV ²⁶ Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

BCC ²⁷ Qui de vous, à force de soucis, pourrait ajouter une seule coudée à la longueur de sa vie ?

KJV ²⁷ Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

BCC ²⁸ Et pourquoi vous inquiétez-vous pour le vêtement ? Observez les lis des champs, comment ils croissent : il ne peinent ni ne filent.

KJV ²⁸ And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

KJV ³⁰ Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

KJV ⁴ Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

BCC ⁵ Hypocrite, ôte d'abord la poutre de ton oeil, et alors tu verras à ôter la paille de l'oeil de ton frère.

KJV ⁵ Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

KJV ¹³ Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

BCC ¹⁴ car étroite est la porte, et resserrée la voie qui conduit à la vie, et il en est peu qui la trouvent !

KJV ¹⁴ Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

BCC ¹⁵ Gardez-vous des faux prophètes qui viennent à vous sous des vêtements de brebis, mais au dedans sont des loups rapaces.

KJV ¹⁵ Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

BCC ¹⁶ C'est à leurs fruits que vous les reconnaîtrez : cueille-t-on du raisin sur les épines, ou des figues sur les ronces ?

KJV ¹⁶ Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

BCC ¹⁷ Ainsi tout arbre bon porte de bons fruits, et tout arbre mauvais porte de mauvais fruits.

KJV ¹⁷ Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

BCC ¹⁸ Un arbre bon ne peut porter de mauvais fruits, ni un arbre mauvais porter de bons fruits.

KJV ¹⁸ A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

BCC ¹⁹ Tout arbre qui ne porte pas de bons fruits, on le coupe et on le jette au feu.

KJV ¹⁹ Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

BCC ²⁰ Donc, c'est à leurs fruits que vous les reconnaîtrez.

KJV ²⁰ Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

BCC ²¹ Ce n'est pas celui qui m'aura dit : "Seigneur, Seigneur !" qui entrera dans le royaume des cieux, mais celui qui aura fait la volonté de mon Père qui est dans les cieux.

KJV ²¹ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

BCC ²² Beaucoup me diront en ce jour-là : "Seigneur, Seigneur ! n'est-ce pas en votre nom que nous avons prophétisé ? n'est-ce pas en votre nom que nous avons chassé les démons ? et n'avons-nous pas, en votre nom, fait beaucoup de miracles ?"

KJV ²² Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

BCC ²⁵ la pluie est tombée, les torrents sont venus, les vents on soufflé et se sont déchaînés contre cette maison, et elle n'a pas été renversée, car elle avait été fondée sur la pierre.

KJV ²⁵ And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
