KJV ¹¹ And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:

KJV ¹⁶ And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

KJV ¹⁷ So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

KJV ¹⁸ Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

MAR ¹⁸ Or la naissance de Jésus-Christ arriva en cette manière. Comme Marie sa mère eut été fiancée à Joseph, avant qu'ils fussent ensemble, elle se trouva enceinte [par l'opération] du Saint-Esprit.

KJV ¹⁹ Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.

MAR ¹⁹ Et Joseph son mari, parce qu'il était juste, et qu'il ne la voulait point diffamer, la voulut renvoyer secrètement.

KJV ²⁰ But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

MAR ²⁰ Mais comme il pensait à ces choses, voici, l'Ange du Seigneur lui apparut dans un songe, et lui dit : Joseph, fils de David, ne crains point de recevoir Marie ta femme ; car ce qui a été conçu en elle est du Saint-Esprit.

KJV ²¹ And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

MAR ²¹ Et elle enfantera un fils, et tu appelleras son nom Jésus ; car il sauvera son peuple de leurs péchés.

KJV ²² Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

MAR ²² Or tout ceci est arrivé afin que fût accompli ce dont le Seigneur avait parlé par le Prophète, en disant :

KJV ²³ Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

MAR ²³ Voici, la Vierge sera enceinte, et elle enfantera un fils ; et on appellera son nom Emmanuël, ce qui signifie, DIEU AVEC NOUS.

KJV ²⁴ Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

MAR ²⁴ Joseph étant donc réveillé de son sommeil, fit comme l'Ange du Seigneur lui avait commandé, et reçut sa femme.

KJV ²⁵ And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

MAR ²⁵ Mais il ne la connut point jusqu'à ce qu'elle eût enfanté son fils premier-né ; et il appela son nom Jésus.

KJV ¹ Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

MAR ¹ Or Jésus étant né à Bethléhem, [ville] de Juda, au temps du Roi Hérode, voici arriver des Sages d'Orient à Jérusalem.

KJV ² Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

MAR ² En disant : où est le Roi des Juifs qui est né ? car nous avons vu son étoile en Orient, et nous sommes venus l'adorer.

KJV ³ When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

MAR ³ Ce que le Roi Hérode ayant entendu, il en fut troublé, et tout Jérusalem avec lui.

KJV ⁴ And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.

MAR ⁴ Et ayant assemblé tous les principaux Sacrificateurs, et les Scribes du peuple, il s'informa d'eux où le Christ devait naître.

KJV ⁵ And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,

MAR ⁵ Et ils lui dirent : à Bethléhem, [ville] de Judée ; car il est ainsi écrit par un Prophète :

KJV ⁶ And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

MAR ⁶ Et toi, Bethléhem, terre de Juda, tu n'es nullement la plus petite entre les Gouverneurs de Juda, car de toi sortira le Conducteur qui paîtra mon peuple d'Israël.

KJV ⁷ Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.

MAR ⁷ Alors Hérode ayant appelé en secret les Sages, s'informa d'eux soigneusement du temps que l'étoile leur était apparue.

KJV ⁸ And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.

MAR ⁸ Et les envoyant à Bethléhem, il leur dit : Allez, et vous informez soigneusement touchant le petit enfant ; et quand vous l'aurez trouvé, faites-le-moi savoir, afin que j'y aille aussi, et que je l'adore.

KJV ⁹ When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.

MAR ⁹ Eux donc ayant ouï le Roi, s'en allèrent, et voici, l'étoile qu'ils avaient vue en Orient allait devant eux, jusqu'à ce qu'elle vint et s'arrêta sur le lieu où était le petit enfant.

KJV ¹⁰ When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

MAR ¹⁰ Et quand ils virent l'étoile, ils se réjouirent d'une fort grande joie.

KJV ¹¹ And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.

MAR ¹¹ Et entrés dans la maison, ils trouvèrent le petit enfant avec Marie sa mère, lequel ils adorèrent, en se prosternant en terre ; et après avoir déployé leurs trésors, ils lui offrirent des présents, [savoir], de l'or, de l'encens et de la myrrhe.

KJV ¹² And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.

MAR ¹² Puis étant divinement avertis dans un songe, de ne retourner point vers Hérode, ils se retirèrent en leur pays par un autre chemin.

KJV ¹³ And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

MAR ¹³ Or après qu'ils se furent retirés, voici, l'Ange du Seigneur apparut dans un songe à Joseph, et lui dit : lève-toi, et prends le petit enfant, et sa mère, et t'enfuis en Egypte, et demeure là, jusqu'à ce que je te le dise ; car Hérode cherchera le petit enfant pour le faire mourir.

KJV ¹⁴ When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:

MAR ¹⁴ Joseph donc étant réveillé, prit de nuit le petit enfant, et sa mère, et se retira en Egypte.

KJV ¹⁵ And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.

MAR ¹⁵ Et il demeura là jusques à la mort d'Hérode ; afin que fût accompli ce dont le Seigneur avait parlé par un Prophète, disant : J'ai appelé mon Fils hors d'Egypte.

KJV ¹⁶ Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.

MAR ¹⁶ Alors Hérode voyant que les Sages s'étaient moqués de lui, fut fort en colère, et il envoya tuer tous les enfants qui étaient à Bethléhem, et dans tout son territoire ; depuis l'âge de deux ans, et au-dessous, selon le temps dont il s'était exactement informé des Sages.

KJV ¹⁷ Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying,

MAR ¹⁷ Alors fut accompli ce dont avait parlé Jérémie le Prophète, en disant :

KJV ¹⁸ In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.

MAR ¹⁸ On a ouï à Rama un cri, une lamentation, des plaintes, et un grand gémissement : Rachel pleurant ses enfants, et n'ayant point voulu être consolée de ce qu'ils ne sont plus.

KJV ¹⁹ But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,

MAR ¹⁹ Mais après qu'Hérode fut mort, voici, l'Ange du Seigneur apparut dans un songe à Joseph, en Egypte,

KJV ²⁰ Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life.

MAR ²⁰ Et [lui] dit : lève-toi, et prends le petit enfant, et sa mère, et t'en va au pays d'Israël ; car ceux qui cherchaient à ôter la vie au petit enfant sont morts.

KJV ²¹ And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.

MAR ²¹ Joseph donc s'étant réveillé, prit le petit enfant et sa mère, et s'en vint au pays d'Israël.

KJV ²² But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:

MAR ²² Mais quand il eut appris qu'Archélaüs régnait en Judée, à la place d'Hérode son père, il craignit d'y aller ; et étant divinement averti dans un songe, il se retira en Galilée.

KJV ²³ And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.

MAR ²³ Et y étant arrivé, il habita dans la ville appelée Nazareth ; afin que fût accompli ce qui avait été dit par les Prophètes : il sera appelé Nazarien.

KJV ¹ In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,

MAR ¹ Or, en ce temps-là vint Jean-Baptiste, prêchant dans le désert de la Judée ;

KJV ² And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

MAR ² Et disant : Convertissez-vous ; car le Royaume des cieux est proche.

KJV ³ For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

MAR ³ Car c'est ici celui dont il a été parlé par Esaïe le Prophète, en disant : la voix de celui qui crie dans le désert [est] : préparez le chemin du Seigneur, aplanissez ses sentiers.

KJV ⁴ And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

MAR ⁴ Or Jean avait son vêtement de poil de chameau, et une ceinture de cuir autour de ses reins, et son manger était des sauterelles et du miel sauvage.

KJV ⁵ Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,

MAR ⁵ Alors les habitants de Jérusalem, et de toute la Judée, et de tout le pays des environs du Jourdain, vinrent à lui.

KJV ⁶ And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.

MAR ⁶ Et ils étaient baptisés par lui au Jourdain confessant leurs péchés.

KJV ⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

MAR ⁷ Mais voyant plusieurs des Pharisiens et des Saducéens venir à son baptême, il leur dit : race de vipères, qui vous a avertis de fuir la colère à venir ?

KJV ⁸ Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

MAR ⁸ Faites donc des fruits convenables à la repentance.

KJV ⁹ And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

MAR ⁹ Et ne présumez point de dire en vous-mêmes : nous avons Abraham pour père ; car je vous dis que Dieu peut faire naître de ces pierres mêmes des enfants à Abraham.

KJV ¹⁰ And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

MAR ¹⁰ Or la cognée est déjà mise à la racine des arbres ; c'est pourquoi tout arbre qui ne fait point de bon fruit s'en va être coupé, et jeté au feu.

KJV ¹¹ I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

MAR ¹¹ Pour moi, je vous baptise d'eau en [signe de] repentance ; mais celui qui vient après moi est plus puissant que moi, et je ne suis pas digne de porter ses souliers ; celui-là vous baptisera du Saint-Esprit, et de feu.

KJV ¹² Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

MAR ¹² Il a son van en sa main, et il nettoiera entièrement son aire, et il assemblera son froment au grenier ; mais il brûlera la paille au feu qui ne s'éteint point.

KJV ¹³ Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

MAR ¹³ Alors Jésus vint de Galilée au Jourdain vers Jean pour être baptisé par lui.

KJV ¹⁴ But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

MAR ¹⁴ Mais Jean l'en empêchait fort, en [lui] disant : J'ai besoin d'être baptisé par toi, et tu viens vers moi ?

KJV ¹⁵ And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

MAR ¹⁵ Et Jésus répondant lui dit : Laisse [moi faire] pour le présent : car il nous est ainsi convenable d'accomplir toute justice ; et alors il le laissa faire.

KJV ¹⁶ And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

MAR ¹⁶ Et quand Jésus eut été baptisé, il sortit incontinent hors de l'eau, et voilà, les cieux lui furent ouverts, et [Jean] vit l'Esprit de Dieu descendant comme une colombe, et venant sur lui.

KJV ¹⁷ And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

MAR ¹⁷ Et voilà une voix du ciel, disant : Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé, en qui j'ai pris mon bon plaisir.

KJV ¹ Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

MAR ¹ Alors Jésus fut emmené par l'Esprit au désert, pour y être tenté par le diable.

KJV ² And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

MAR ² Et quand il eut jeûné quarante jours, et quarante nuits, finalement il eut faim.

KJV ³ And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

MAR ³ Et le Tentateur s'approchant, lui dit : Si tu es le Fils de Dieu, dis que ces pierres deviennent des pains.

KJV ⁴ But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

MAR ⁴ Mais [Jésus] répondit, et dit : Il est écrit : L'homme ne vivra point de pain seulement, mais de toute parole qui sort de la bouche de Dieu.

KJV ⁵ Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

MAR ⁵ Alors le diable le transporta dans la sainte ville, et le mit sur les créneaux du Temple ;

KJV ⁶ And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

MAR ⁶ Et il lui dit : Si tu es le Fils de Dieu, jette-toi en bas ; car il est écrit : Il ordonnera à ses Anges de te porter en leurs mains, de peur que tu ne heurtes ton pied contre quelque pierre.

KJV ⁷ Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

MAR ⁷ Jésus lui dit : il est aussi écrit : tu ne tenteras point le Seigneur ton Dieu.

KJV ⁸ Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

MAR ⁸ Le diable le transporta encore sur une fort haute montagne, et lui montra tous les Royaumes du monde et leur gloire ;

KJV ⁹ And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

MAR ⁹ Et il lui dit : je te donnerai toutes ces choses, si en te prosternant en terre, tu m'adores.

KJV ¹⁰ Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

MAR ¹⁰ Mais Jésus lui dit : va Satan : car il est écrit : Tu adoreras le Seigneur ton Dieu, et tu le serviras lui seul.

KJV ¹¹ Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

MAR ¹¹ Alors le diable le laissa, et voilà, les Anges s'approchèrent, et le servirent.

KJV ¹² Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;

MAR ¹² Or Jésus ayant ouï dire que Jean avait été mis en prison, se retira en Galilée.

KJV ¹³ And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

MAR ¹³ Et ayant quitté Nazareth, il alla demeurer à Capernaüm, ville maritime, sur les confins de Zabulon, et de Nephthali.

KJV ¹⁴ That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

KJV ¹⁵ The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

MAR ¹⁵ Le pays de Zabulon, et le pays de Nephthali, vers le chemin de la mer, au-delà du Jourdain, la Galilée des Gentils ;

KJV ¹⁶ The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

MAR ¹⁶ Ce peuple, qui était assis dans les ténèbres, a vu une grande lumière ; et à ceux qui étaient assis dans la région et dans l'ombre de la mort, la lumière s'est levée.

KJV ¹⁷ From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

KJV ¹⁸ And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

MAR ¹⁸ Et comme Jésus marchait le long de la mer de Galilée, il vit deux frères, [savoir], Simon, [qui fut] appelé Pierre, et André son frère, qui jetaient leurs filets dans la mer : car ils étaient pêcheurs.

KJV ¹⁹ And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

MAR ¹⁹ Et il leur dit : venez après moi, et je vous ferai pêcheurs d'hommes.

KJV ²⁰ And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

MAR ²⁰ Et ayant aussitôt quitté leurs filets, ils le suivirent.

KJV ²¹ And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

MAR ²¹ Et de là étant allé plus avant, il vit deux autres frères, Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et Jean, son frère, dans une nacelle, avec Zébédée leur père, qui raccommodaient leurs filets, et il les appela.

KJV ²² And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

MAR ²² Et ayant aussitôt quitté leur nacelle, et leur père, ils le suivirent.

KJV ²³ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

MAR ²³ Et Jésus allait par toute la Galilée, enseignant dans leurs Synagogues, prêchant l'Evangile du Royaume, et guérissant toute sorte de maladies, et toute sorte de langueurs parmi le peuple.

KJV ²⁴ And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

KJV ³ Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

MAR ³ Bienheureux sont les pauvres en esprit ; car le Royaume des cieux est à eux.

KJV ⁴ Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

MAR ⁴ Bienheureux sont ceux qui pleurent ; car ils seront consolés.

KJV ⁵ Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

MAR ⁵ Bienheureux sont les débonnaires ; car ils hériteront la terre.

KJV ⁶ Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

MAR ⁶ Bienheureux sont ceux qui sont affamés et altérés de la justice ; car ils seront rassasiés.

KJV ⁷ Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

MAR ⁷ Bienheureux sont les miséricordieux ; car la miséricorde leur sera faite.

KJV ⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

MAR ⁸ Bienheureux sont ceux qui sont nets de coeur ; car ils verront Dieu.

KJV ⁹ Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

MAR ⁹ Bienheureux sont ceux qui procurent la paix ; car ils seront appelés enfants de Dieu.

KJV ¹⁰ Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

MAR ¹⁰ Bienheureux sont ceux qui sont persécutés pour la justice ; car le Royaume des cieux est à eux.

KJV ¹¹ Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

MAR ¹¹ Vous serez bienheureux quand on vous aura injuriés et persécutés, et quand, à cause de moi, on aura dit faussement contre vous toute sorte de mal.

KJV ¹² Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

MAR ¹² Réjouissez-vous, et tressaillez de joie ; parce que votre récompense est grande dans les cieux ; car on a ainsi persécuté les Prophètes qui ont été avant vous.

KJV ¹³ Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

MAR ¹³ Vous êtes le sel de la terre ; mais si le sel perd sa saveur, avec quoi le salera-t-on ? il ne vaut plus rien qu'à être jeté dehors, et foulé des hommes.

KJV ¹⁴ Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

MAR ¹⁴ Vous êtes la lumière du monde ; une ville située sur une montagne ne peut point être cachée.

KJV ¹⁵ Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

MAR ¹⁵ Et on n'allume point la lampe pour la mettre sous un boisseau, mais sur un chandelier, et elle éclaire tous ceux qui sont dans la maison.

KJV ¹⁶ Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

KJV ¹⁷ Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

KJV ¹⁹ Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

KJV ²⁰ For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

KJV ²² But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

MAR ²² Mais moi je vous dis : que quiconque se met en colère sans cause contre son frère, sera punissable par le jugement ; et celui qui dira à son frère, Racha, sera punissable par le conseil ; et celui qui lui dira, fou, sera punissable par la géhenne du feu.

KJV ²³ Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

MAR ²³ Si donc tu apportes ton offrande à l'autel, et que là il te souvienne que ton frère a quelque chose contre toi ;

KJV ²⁴ Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

MAR ²⁴ Laisse-là ton offrande devant l'autel, et va te réconcilier premièrement avec ton frère, puis viens, et offre ton offrande.

KJV ²⁵ Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

MAR ²⁵ Sois bientôt d'accord avec ta partie adverse, tandis que tu es en chemin avec elle ; de peur que ta partie adverse ne te livre au juge, et que le juge ne te livre au sergent, et que tu ne sois mis en prison.

KJV ²⁶ Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

KJV ²⁸ But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

MAR ²⁸ Mais moi je vous dis, que quiconque regarde une femme pour la convoiter, il a déjà commis dans son coeur un adultère avec elle.

KJV ²⁹ And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

MAR ²⁹ Que si ton oeil droit te fait broncher, arrache-le, et le jette loin de toi ; car il vaut mieux qu'un de tes membres périsse, que si tout ton corps était jeté dans la géhenne.

MAR ³² Mais moi je vous dis, que quiconque aura répudié sa femme, si ce n'est pour cause d'adultère, il la fait devenir adultère ; et quiconque se mariera à la femme répudiée, commet un adultère.

KJV ³³ Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

MAR ³³ Vous avez aussi appris qu'il a été dit aux Anciens : tu ne te parjureras point, mais tu rendras au Seigneur ce que tu auras promis par jurement.

KJV ³⁴ But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:

MAR ³⁴ Mais moi, je vous dis : ne jurez en aucune manière ; ni par le ciel, car c'est le trône de Dieu ;

KJV ³⁵ Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

MAR ³⁵ Ni par la terre, car c'est le marchepied de ses pieds ; ni par Jérusalem, parce que c'est la ville du grand Roi.

KJV ³⁶ Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

MAR ³⁶ Tu ne jureras point non plus par ta tête ; car tu ne peux faire un cheveu blanc ou noir.

KJV ³⁷ But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

MAR ³⁷ Mais que votre parole soit : oui, oui ; non, non ; car ce qui est de plus, est mauvais.

KJV ³⁸ Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

MAR ³⁸ Vous avez appris qu'il a été dit : oeil pour oeil, et dent pour dent.

KJV ³⁹ But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

MAR ³⁹ Mais moi, je vous dis : ne résistez point au mal ; mais si quelqu'un te frappe à ta joue droite, présente-lui aussi l'autre.

KJV ⁴⁰ And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.

MAR ⁴⁰ Et si quelqu'un veut plaider contre toi, et t'ôter ta robe, laisse-lui encore le manteau.

KJV ⁴¹ And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

MAR ⁴¹ Et si quelqu'un te veut contraindre d'aller avec lui une lieue, vas-en deux.

KJV ⁴² Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

MAR ⁴² Donne à celui qui te demande, et ne te détourne point de celui qui veut emprunter de toi.

KJV ⁴³ Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

MAR ⁴³ Vous avez appris qu'il a été dit : tu aimeras ton prochain, et tu haïras ton ennemi.

KJV ⁴⁴ But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

MAR ⁴⁴ Mais moi je vous dis : aimez vos ennemis, et bénissez ceux qui vous maudissent, faites du bien à ceux qui vous haïssent, et priez pour ceux qui vous courent sus, et vous persécutent.

KJV ⁴⁵ That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

MAR ⁴⁵ Afin que vous soyez les enfants de votre Père qui est aux cieux ; car il fait lever son soleil sur les méchants, et sur les gens de bien, et il envoie sa pluie sur les justes, et sur les injustes.

KJV ⁴⁶ For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

MAR ⁴⁶ Car si vous aimez [seulement] ceux qui vous aiment, quelle récompense en aurez-vous ? Les péagers mêmes n'en font-ils pas tout autant ?

KJV ⁴⁷ And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

MAR ⁴⁷ Et si vous faites accueil seulement à vos frères, que faites-vous plus [que les autres] ? les péagers mêmes ne le font-ils pas aussi ?

KJV ⁴⁸ Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

MAR ⁴⁸ Soyez donc parfaits, comme votre Père qui est aux cieux est parfait.

KJV ¹ Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

MAR ¹ Prenez garde de ne faire point votre aumône devant les hommes, pour en être regardés ; autrement vous n'en recevrez point la récompense de votre Père qui est aux cieux.

KJV ² Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

MAR ² Lors donc que tu feras ton aumône, ne fais point sonner la trompette devant toi, comme les hypocrites font dans les Synagogues, et dans les rues, pour en être honorés des hommes ; en vérité je vous dis, qu'ils reçoivent leur récompense.

KJV ³ But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

MAR ³ Mais quand tu fais ton aumône, que ta main gauche ne sache point ce que fait ta droite.

KJV ⁴ That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

MAR ⁴ Afin que ton aumône soit dans le secret, et ton Père, qui voit [ce qui se fait] en secret t'en récompensera publiquement.

KJV ⁵ And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

MAR ⁵ Et quand tu prieras, ne sois point comme les hypocrites ; car ils aiment à prier en se tenant debout dans les Synagogues et aux coins des rues, afin d'être vus des hommes ; en vérité je vous dis, qu'ils reçoivent leur récompense.

KJV ⁶ But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

MAR ⁶ Mais toi, quand tu pries, entre dans ton cabinet, et ayant fermé ta porte, prie ton Père, qui [te voit] dans ce lieu secret ; et ton Père qui te voit dans ce lieu secret, te récompensera publiquement.

KJV ⁷ But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

MAR ⁷ Or quand vous priez, n'usez point de vaines redites, comme font les Païens ; car ils s'imaginent d'être exaucés en parlant beaucoup.

KJV ⁸ Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

MAR ⁸ Ne leur ressemblez donc point ; car votre Père sait de quoi vous avez besoin, avant que vous le lui demandiez.

KJV ⁹ After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

MAR ⁹ Vous donc priez ainsi : notre Père qui es aux cieux, ton Nom soit sanctifié.

KJV ¹⁰ Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

MAR ¹⁰ Ton Règne vienne. Ta volonté soit faite sur la terre comme au ciel.

MAR ¹¹ Donne-nous aujourd'hui notre pain quotidien.

KJV ¹² And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

KJV ¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

KJV ¹⁴ For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

MAR ¹⁸ Afin qu'il ne paraisse point aux hommes que tu jeûnes, mais ton Père qui est présent dans [ton] lieu secret ; et ton Père qui te voit dans [ton] lieu secret, te récompensera publiquement.

KJV ¹⁹ Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

MAR ¹⁹ Ne vous amassez point des trésors sur la terre, que les vers et la rouille consument et que les larrons percent et dérobent.

KJV ²⁰ But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

MAR ²⁰ Mais amassez-vous des trésors dans le ciel, où ni les vers ni la rouille ne consument rien, et où les larrons ne percent ni ne dérobent.

KJV ²¹ For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

MAR ²¹ Car où est votre trésor, là sera aussi votre coeur.

KJV ²² The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

MAR ²² L'oeil est la lumière du corps ; si donc ton oeil est net, tout ton corps sera éclairé.

KJV ²³ But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

MAR ²³ Mais si ton oeil est mal disposé, tout ton corps sera ténébreux ; si donc la lumière qui est en toi, n'est que ténèbres, combien seront grandes les ténèbres [mêmes] ?

KJV ²⁴ No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

MAR ²⁴ Nul ne peut servir deux maîtres ; car, ou il haïra l'un, et aimera l'autre ; ou il s'attachera à l'un, et méprisera l'autre ; vous ne pouvez servir Dieu et Mammon.

KJV ²⁵ Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

MAR ²⁵ C'est pourquoi je vous dis : ne soyez point en souci pour votre vie, de ce que vous mangerez, et de ce que vous boirez ; ni pour votre corps, de quoi vous serez vêtus ; la vie n'est-elle pas plus que la nourriture, et le corps plus que le vêtement ?

KJV ²⁶ Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

MAR ²⁶ Considérez les oiseaux du ciel ; car ils ne sèment, ni ne moissonnent, ni n'assemblent dans des greniers, et cependant votre Père céleste les nourrit ; n'êtes-vous pas beaucoup plus excellents qu'eux ?

KJV ²⁷ Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

MAR ²⁷ Et qui est celui d'entre vous qui puisse par son souci ajouter une coudée à sa taille ?

KJV ²⁸ And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

MAR ²⁸ Et pourquoi êtes-vous en souci du vêtement ? apprenez comment croissent les lis des champs ; ils ne travaillent, ni ne filent ;

KJV ²⁹ And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

MAR ²⁹ Cependant je vous dis que Salomon même dans toute sa gloire n'a pas été vêtu comme l'un d'eux.

KJV ³⁰ Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

MAR ³⁰ Si donc Dieu revêt ainsi l'herbe des champs, qui est aujourd'hui [sur pied], et qui demain sera jetée au four, ne vous vêtira-t-il pas beaucoup plutôt, ô gens de petite foi ?

KJV ³¹ Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

MAR ³¹ Ne soyez donc point en souci, disant : que mangerons-nous ? ou que boirons-nous ? ou de quoi serons-nous vêtus ?

KJV ³² (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

MAR ³² Vu que les Païens recherchent toutes ces choses ; car votre Père céleste connaît que vous avez besoin de toutes ces choses.

KJV ³³ But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

MAR ³³ Mais cherchez premièrement le Royaume de Dieu, et sa justice, et toutes ces choses vous seront données par-dessus.

KJV ³⁴ Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

MAR ³⁴ Ne soyez donc point en souci pour le lendemain ; car le lendemain prendra soin de ce qui le regarde ; à chaque jour suffit sa peine.

KJV ¹ Judge not, that ye be not judged.

MAR ¹ Ne jugez point, afin que vous ne soyez point jugés.

KJV ² For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

MAR ² Car de tel jugement que vous jugez, vous serez jugés ; et de telle mesure que vous mesurerez, on vous mesurera réciproquement.

KJV ³ And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

MAR ³ Et pourquoi regardes-tu le fétu qui est dans l'oeil de ton frère, et tu ne prends pas garde à la poutre dans ton oeil ?

KJV ⁴ Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

MAR ⁴ Ou comment dis-tu à ton frère ? Permets que j'ôte de ton oeil ce fétu, et voilà, [tu as] une poutre dans ton oeil.

KJV ⁹ Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

MAR ⁹ Et qui sera l'homme d'entre vous qui donne une pierre à son fils, s'il lui demande du pain ?

KJV ¹⁰ Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

MAR ¹⁰ Et s'il lui demande un poisson, lui donnera-t-il un serpent ?

KJV ¹¹ If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

MAR ¹¹ Si donc vous, qui êtes méchants, savez bien donner à vos enfants des choses bonnes, combien plus votre Père qui est aux cieux, donnera-t-il des biens à ceux qui les lui demandent ?

KJV ¹² Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

MAR ¹⁵ Or gardez-vous des faux Prophètes, qui viennent à vous en habit de brebis, mais qui au-dedans sont des loups ravissants.

KJV ¹⁶ Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

MAR ¹⁶ Vous les connaîtrez à leurs fruits. Cueille-t-on les raisins à des épines, ou les figues à des chardons ?

KJV ¹⁷ Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

MAR ¹⁷ Ainsi tout bon arbre fait de bons fruits ; mais le mauvais arbre fait de mauvais fruits.

KJV ¹⁸ A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

MAR ¹⁸ Le bon arbre ne peut point faire de mauvais fruits, ni le mauvais arbre faire de bons fruits.

KJV ¹⁹ Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

MAR ¹⁹ Tout arbre qui ne fait point de bon fruit est coupé, et jeté au feu.

KJV ²⁰ Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

KJV ²⁸ And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:
