KJV ¹¹ And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.

KJV ¹² And when ye come into an house, salute it.

KJV ¹³ And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

KJV ¹⁴ And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

S21 ¹⁴ Lorsqu'on ne vous accueillera pas et qu'on n'écoutera pas vos paroles, sortez de cette maison ou de cette ville et secouez la poussière de vos pieds.

KJV ¹⁵ Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

KJV ¹⁶ Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

KJV ¹⁹ But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

KJV ²⁰ For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

KJV ²² And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

S21 ²² Vous serez détestés de tous à cause de mon nom, mais celui qui persévérera jusqu'à la fin sera sauvé.

KJV ²³ But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

S21 ²³ Quand on vous persécutera dans une ville, fuyez dans une autre. Je vous le dis en vérité, vous n'aurez pas fini de parcourir les villes d'Israël avant que le Fils de l'homme ne vienne.

KJV ²⁴ The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

S21 ²⁴ »Le disciple n'est pas supérieur au maître, ni le serviteur supérieur à son seigneur.

KJV ²⁵ It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

S21 ²⁵ Il suffit au disciple d'être traité comme son maître, et au serviteur comme son seigneur. S'ils ont appelé le maître de la maison Béelzébul, ils appelleront d'autant plus volontiers ainsi les gens de sa maison!

KJV ²⁶ Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

S21 ²⁶ N'ayez donc pas peur d'eux, car il n'y a rien de caché qui ne doive être découvert, ni de secret qui ne doive être connu.

KJV ²⁷ What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

KJV ²⁸ And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

S21 ²⁹ Ne vend-on pas deux moineaux pour une petite pièce? Cependant, pas un ne tombe par terre sans l'accord de votre Père.

KJV ³⁰ But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

KJV ³¹ Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

KJV ³² Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

KJV ³⁴ Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

KJV ³⁵ For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

KJV ³⁶ And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

S21 ³⁶ et l'on aura pour ennemis les membres de sa famille.

KJV ³⁷ He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

S21 ³⁷ Celui qui aime son père ou sa mère plus que moi n'est pas digne de moi, et celui qui aime son fils ou sa fille plus que moi n'est pas digne de moi.

KJV ³⁸ And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

KJV ³⁹ He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

KJV ⁴² And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

KJV ¹ And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.

KJV ⁴ Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:

S21 ⁴ Jésus leur répondit: «Allez rapporter à Jean ce que vous entendez et ce que vous voyez:

KJV ⁵ The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

S21 ⁵ les aveugles voient, les boiteux marchent, les lépreux sont purifiés, les sourds entendent, les morts ressuscitent et la bonne nouvelle est annoncée aux pauvres.

KJV ⁶ And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

S21 ⁶ Heureux celui pour qui je ne représenterai pas un obstacle!»

KJV ⁷ And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

S21 ⁷ Comme ils s'en allaient, Jésus se mit à dire à la foule au sujet de Jean: «Qu'êtes-vous allés voir au désert? Un roseau agité par le vent?

KJV ⁸ But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.

S21 ⁸ Mais qu'êtes-vous allés voir? Un homme habillé de [tenues] élégantes? Ceux qui portent des tenues élégantes sont dans les maisons des rois.

KJV ⁹ But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

S21 ⁹ Qu'êtes-vous donc allés voir? Un prophète? Oui, je vous le dis, et plus qu'un prophète,

KJV ¹⁰ For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

S21 ¹⁰ [car] c'est celui à propos duquel il est écrit: Voici, j'envoie mon messager devant toi pour te préparer le chemin. 

KJV ¹¹ Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

S21 ¹¹ »Je vous le dis en vérité, parmi ceux qui sont nés de femmes, il n'est venu personne de plus grand que Jean-Baptiste. Cependant, le plus petit dans le royaume des cieux est plus grand que lui.

KJV ¹² And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

S21 ¹² Depuis l'époque de Jean-Baptiste jusqu'à présent, le royaume des cieux est assailli avec force, et des violents s'en emparent.

KJV ¹³ For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

KJV ¹⁸ For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.

S21 ¹⁸ En effet, Jean est venu, il ne mange pas et ne boit pas, et l'on dit: ‘Il a un démon.'

KJV ¹⁹ The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

S21 ¹⁹ Le Fils de l'homme est venu, il mange et il boit, et l'on dit: ‘C'est un glouton et un buveur, un ami des collecteurs d'impôts et des pécheurs.' Mais la sagesse a été reconnue juste par ses enfants.»

KJV ²⁰ Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:

KJV ²¹ Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

S21 ²¹ «Malheur à toi, Chorazin, malheur à toi, Bethsaïda, car si les miracles accomplis au milieu de vous l'avaient été dans Tyr et dans Sidon, il y a longtemps que leurs habitants se seraient repentis, habillés d'un sac et assis dans la cendre.

KJV ²² But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.

S21 ²² C'est pourquoi je vous le dis: le jour du jugement, Tyr et Sidon seront traitées moins sévèrement que vous.

KJV ²³ And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

S21 ²³ Et toi, Capernaüm, seras-tu élevée jusqu'au ciel? Non. Tu seras abaissée jusqu'au séjour des morts, car si les miracles accomplis au milieu de toi l'avaient été dans Sodome, elle subsisterait encore aujourd'hui.

KJV ²⁴ But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

KJV ²⁵ At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

S21 ²⁷ »Mon Père m'a tout donné, et personne ne connaît le Fils, si ce n'est le Père; personne non plus ne connaît le Père, si ce n'est le Fils et celui à qui le Fils veut le révéler.

KJV ²⁸ Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

S21 ²⁸ »Venez à moi, vous tous qui êtes fatigués et courbés sous un fardeau, et je vous donnerai du repos.

KJV ²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

S21 ²⁹ Acceptez mes exigences et laissez-vous instruire par moi, car je suis doux et humble de cœur, et vous trouverez le repos pour votre âme.

KJV ³⁰ For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

S21 ³⁰ En effet, mes exigences sont bonnes et mon fardeau léger.»

KJV ¹ At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat.

S21 ¹ A cette époque-là, Jésus traversa des champs de blé un jour de sabbat. Ses disciples, qui avaient faim, se mirent à arracher des épis et à manger.

KJV ² But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.

KJV ³ But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;

S21 ³ Mais Jésus leur répondit: «N'avez-vous pas lu ce qu'a fait David lorsqu'il a eu faim, lui et ses compagnons?

KJV ⁴ How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?

S21 ⁴ Il est entré dans la maison de Dieu et a mangé les pains consacrés que ni lui ni ses compagnons n'avaient le droit de manger et qui étaient réservés aux prêtres seuls!

KJV ⁵ Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

S21 ⁵ Ou n'avez-vous pas lu dans la loi que, les jours de sabbat, les prêtres violent le sabbat dans le temple sans se rendre coupables?

KJV ⁶ But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.

S21 ⁶ Or, je vous le dis, il y a ici plus grand que le temple.

KJV ⁷ But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.

S21 ⁷ Si vous saviez ce que signifie: Je désire la bonté, et non les sacrifices, vous n'auriez pas condamné des innocents.

KJV ⁸ For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

S21 ⁸ En effet, le Fils de l'homme est le Seigneur du sabbat.»

KJV ⁹ And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:

S21 ⁹ Jésus partit de là et entra dans la synagogue.

KJV ¹⁰ And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.

S21 ¹⁰ Il s'y trouvait un homme qui avait la main paralysée. Ils demandèrent à Jésus: «Est-il permis de faire une guérison le jour du sabbat?» C'était afin de pouvoir l'accuser.

KJV ¹¹ And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?

S21 ¹¹ Il leur répondit: «Lequel de vous, s'il n'a qu'une brebis et qu'elle tombe dans un trou le jour du sabbat, n'ira pas la retirer de là?

KJV ¹² How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

S21 ¹² Or, un homme vaut beaucoup plus qu'une brebis! Il est donc permis de faire du bien les jours de sabbat.»

KJV ¹³ Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.

Il la tendit, et elle devint saine [comme l'autre].

KJV ¹⁴ Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.

S21 ¹⁴ Les pharisiens sortirent et tinrent conseil sur les moyens de le faire mourir.

KJV ¹⁵ But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;

S21 ¹⁵ Jésus le sut et s'éloigna de là. Une grande foule le suivit. Il guérit tous les malades

KJV ¹⁶ And charged them that they should not make him known:

S21 ¹⁶ et leur recommanda sévèrement de ne pas le faire connaître,

KJV ¹⁷ That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

KJV ¹⁸ Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.

KJV ²⁰ A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.

KJV ²² Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.

KJV ⁶ And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

KJV ²¹ Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

KJV ³⁹ The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

S21 ³⁹ l'ennemi qui l'a semée, c'est le diable; la moisson, c'est la fin du monde; les moissonneurs, ce sont les anges.

KJV ⁴⁰ As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

KJV ⁴¹ The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;

KJV ⁴³ Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

KJV ⁴⁴ Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

KJV ⁴⁷ Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:

KJV ⁵⁷ And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.
