KJV ¹ The word of the LORD that came unto Hosea, the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.

KJV ² The beginning of the word of the LORD by Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the LORD.

MAR ² Au commencement que l'Eternel parla par Osée, l'Eternel dit à Osée : Va, prends-toi une femme débauchée, et [aie d'elle] des enfants illégitimes ; car le pays ne fait que commettre adultère, [se détournant] de l'Eternel.

KJV ³ So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; which conceived, and bare him a son.

MAR ³ Il s'en alla donc, et prit Gomer, fille de Diblajim, laquelle conçut, et lui enfanta un fils.

KJV ⁴ And the LORD said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause to cease the kingdom of the house of Israel.

MAR ⁴ Et l'Eternel lui dit : Appelle son nom Jizréhel ; car encore un peu de temps, et je visiterai le sang de Jizréhel sur la maison de Jéhu, et ferai cesser le règne de la maison d'Israël.

KJV ⁵ And it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of Israel, in the valley of Jezreel.

MAR ⁵ Et il arrivera qu'en ce jour-là je romprai l'arc d'Israël dans la vallée de Jizréhel.

KJV ⁶ And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And God said unto him, Call her name Loruhamah: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them away.

MAR ⁶ Elle conçut encore, et elle enfanta une fille, et [l'Eternel] lui dit : Appelle son nom Lo-ruhama ; car je ne continuerai plus de faire miséricorde à la maison d'Israël, mais je les enlèverai entièrement.

KJV ⁷ But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen.

MAR ⁷ Mais je ferai miséricorde à la maison de Juda, et je les délivrerai par l'Eternel leur Dieu ; et je ne les délivrerai point par l'arc, ni par l'épée, ni par des combats, ni par des chevaux, ni par des gens de cheval.

KJV ⁸ Now when she had weaned Loruhamah, she conceived, and bare a son.

MAR ⁸ Puis quand elle eut sevré Lo-ruhama, elle conçut, et enfanta un fils.

KJV ⁹ Then said God, Call his name Loammi: for ye are not my people, and I will not be your God.

MAR ⁹ Et [l'Eternel] dit : Appelle son nom Lo-hammi ; car vous n'êtes point mon peuple, et je ne serai point votre [Dieu].

KJV ¹⁰ Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.

MAR ¹⁰ Toutefois il arrivera que le nombre des enfants d'Israël sera comme le sable de la mer, qui ne se peut ni mesurer, ni compter ; et il arrivera qu'au lieu où on leur aura dit : Vous êtes Lo-hammi, il leur sera dit : Vous êtes les enfants du Dieu vivant.11 Aussi les enfants de Juda, et les enfants d'Israël seront assemblés, et ils s'établiront un Chef, et remonteront hors du pays ; car la journée de Jizréhel aura été grande.

KJV ¹¹ Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for great shall be the day of Jezreel.

KJV ¹ Say ye unto your brethren, Ammi; and to your sisters, Ruhamah.

MAR ¹ Appelez vos frères Hammi, et vos soeurs Ruhama.

KJV ² Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;

MAR ² Plaidez, plaidez avec votre mère, car elle n'[est] point ma femme, et aussi ne suis-je point son mari ; et qu'elle ôte ses prostitutions de devant elle, et ses adultères de son sein.

KJV ³ Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst.

MAR ³ De peur que je ne manifeste sa nudité, que je ne la remette dans l'état où elle était le jour qu'elle naquit, que je ne la réduise en désert, et que je ne la fasse être comme une terre sèche, et ne la fasse mourir de soif.

KJV ⁴ And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they be the children of whoredoms.

MAR ⁴ Et que je n'use point de miséricorde envers ses enfants, car ce sont des enfants de prostitution.

KJV ⁵ For their mother hath played the harlot: she that conceived them hath done shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink.

MAR ⁵ Parce que leur mère s'est prostituée, celle qui les a conçus s'est déshonorée, car elle a dit : Je m'en irai après ceux que j'aime, qui me donnent mon pain et mes eaux, ma laine, et mon lin, mon huile, et mes boissons.

KJV ⁶ Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and make a wall, that she shall not find her paths.

MAR ⁶ C'est pourquoi, voici, je boucherai d'épines ton chemin, et je ferai une cloison de pierres, en sorte qu'elle ne trouvera point ses sentiers.

KJV ⁷ And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.

MAR ⁷ Elle ira donc vers ceux dont elle recherche l'amitié ; mais elle ne les atteindra point ; elle les cherchera, mais elle ne les trouvera point ; et elle dira : Je m'en irai et retournerai à mon premier mari, car alors j'étais mieux que je ne suis maintenant.

KJV ⁸ For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal.

MAR ⁸ Mais elle n'a point connu que c'était moi qui lui avais donné le froment, et le vin, et l'huile, et qui lui avais multiplié l'argent et l'or dont ils ont fait un Bahal.

KJV ⁹ Therefore will I return, and take away my corn in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and will recover my wool and my flax given to cover her nakedness.

MAR ⁹ C'est pourquoi je viendrai à reprendre mon froment en son temps, et mon vin en sa saison, et je retirerai ma laine et mon lin qui couvraient sa nudité.

KJV ¹⁰ And now will I discover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of mine hand.

MAR ¹⁰ Et maintenant je découvrirai sa turpitude devant les yeux de ceux qui l'aiment, et personne ne la délivrera de ma main.

KJV ¹¹ I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts.

MAR ¹¹ Je ferai cesser toute sa joie, ses fêtes, ses nouvelles lunes, ses Sabbats, et toutes ses solennités.

KJV ¹² And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees, whereof she hath said, These are my rewards that my lovers have given me: and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall eat them.

MAR ¹² Et je gâterai ses vignobles, et ses figuiers, desquels elle a dit : Ce sont ici mes salaires que ceux qui m'aiment m'ont donnés ; et je les réduirai en forêt, et les bêtes des champs les dévoreront.

KJV ¹³ And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, wherein she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith the LORD.

MAR ¹³ Et je visiterai sur elle les jours des Bahalins, durant lesquels elle leur faisait des parfums, et se parait de ses bagues et de ses joyaux, et s'en allait après ceux qui l'aimaient, et m'oubliait, dit l'Eternel.

KJV ¹⁴ Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her.

MAR ¹⁴ Néanmoins, voici, je l'attirerai après que je l'aurai promenée par le désert, et je lui parlerai selon son coeur.

KJV ¹⁵ And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

MAR ¹⁵ Et je lui donnerai ses vignes, depuis ce lieu-là, et la vallée de Hachor, pour l'entrée de son attente, et elle y chantera comme au temps de sa jeunesse, et comme lorsqu'elle remonta du pays d'Egypte.

KJV ¹⁶ And it shall be at that day, saith the LORD, that thou shalt call me Ishi; and shalt call me no more Baali.

MAR ¹⁶ Et il arrivera en ce jour-là, dit l'Eternel, que tu m'appelleras, Mon mari, et que tu ne m'appelleras plus, Mon Bahal.

KJV ¹⁷ For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.

MAR ¹⁷ Car j'ôterai de sa bouche les noms des Bahalins, et on n'en fera plus mention par leur nom.

KJV ¹⁸ And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely.

MAR ¹⁸ Aussi en ce temps-là je traiterai pour eux une alliance avec les bêtes des champs, et avec les oiseaux des cieux, et avec les reptiles de la terre ; et je briserai [et j'ôterai] du pays, l'arc, et l'épée, et la guerre, et je les ferai dormir en sûreté.

KJV ¹⁹ And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.

MAR ¹⁹ Et je t'épouserai pour moi à toujours ; je t'épouserai, dis-je, pour moi, en justice, et en jugement, et en gratuité, et en compassions.

KJV ²⁰ I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD.

MAR ²⁰ Même je t'épouserai en fermeté, et tu connaîtras l'Eternel.

KJV ²¹ And it shall come to pass in that day, I will hear, saith the LORD, I will hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth;

MAR ²¹ Et il arrivera en ce temps-là que je répondrai, dit l'Eternel, que je répondrai aux cieux, et les cieux répondront à la terre.

KJV ²² And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel.

MAR ²² Et la terre répondra au froment, au bon vin, et à l'huile ; et eux répondront à Jizréhel.

KJV ²³ And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.

MAR ²³ Puis je la sèmerai pour moi en la terre, et je ferai miséricorde à Lo-ruhama ; et je dirai à Lo-hammi, tu es mon peuple ; et il me dira, mon Dieu.

KJV ¹ Then said the LORD unto me, Go yet, love a woman beloved of her friend, yet an adulteress, according to the love of the LORD toward the children of Israel, who look to other gods, and love flagons of wine.

MAR ¹ Après cela l'Eternel me dit : Va encore aimer une femme aimée d'un [ami], et néanmoins adultère, selon l'amour de l'Eternel envers les enfants d'Israël, qui toutefois regardent à d'autres dieux, et aiment les flacons de vin.

KJV ² So I bought her to me for fifteen pieces of silver, and for an homer of barley, and an half homer of barley:

MAR ² Je m'acquis donc cette [femme-]là pour quinze pièces d'argent et un homer et demi d'orge ;

KJV ³ And I said unto her, Thou shalt abide for me many days; thou shalt not play the harlot, and thou shalt not be for another man: so will I also be for thee.

MAR ³ Et je lui dis : Tu demeureras avec moi pendant plusieurs jours ; tu ne t'abandonneras plus, et tu ne seras à aucun mari ; et aussi je te serai fidèle.

KJV ⁴ For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and without teraphim:

MAR ⁴ Car les enfants d'Israël demeureront plusieurs jours sans Roi et sans Gouverneur, sans sacrifice, et sans statue, sans Ephod et sans Théraphim.

KJV ⁵ Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the latter days.

MAR ⁵ Mais après cela les enfants d'Israël se repentiront, et rechercheront l'Eternel leur Dieu, et David leur Roi, ils révéreront l'Eternel et sa bonté aux derniers jours.

KJV ¹ Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

MAR ¹ Enfants d'Israël, écoutez la parole de l'Eternel ; car l'Eternel a un procès avec les habitants du pays ; parce qu'il n'y a point de vérité, ni de miséricorde, ni de connaissance de Dieu au pays.

KJV ² By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.

MAR ² Il n'y a qu'exécration, que mensonge, que meurtre, que larcin et qu'adultère ; ils se sont entièrement débordés, et un meurtre touche l'autre.

KJV ³ Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.

MAR ³ C'est pourquoi le pays sera en deuil, et tout homme qui y habite sera dans la langueur, avec les bêtes des champs, et les oiseaux des cieux ; même les poissons de la mer périront.

KJV ⁴ Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest.

MAR ⁴ Quoi qu'il en soit, qu'on ne plaide avec personne, et qu'on ne reprenne personne ; car, quant à ton peuple, ce sont autant de gens qui disputent avec le Sacrificateur.

KJV ⁵ Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.

MAR ⁵ Tu tomberas donc en plein jour, et le prophète aussi tombera avec toi de nuit, et j'exterminerai ta mère.

KJV ⁶ My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

MAR ⁶ Mon peuple est détruit à cause qu'il est sans science. Parce que tu as rejeté la science, je te rejetterai, afin que tu ne m'exerces plus la sacrificature. Puisque tu as oublié la Loi de ton Dieu, moi aussi j'oublierai tes enfants.

KJV ⁷ As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.

MAR ⁷ A mesure qu'ils se sont accrus ils ont péché contre moi : je changerai leur gloire en ignominie.

KJV ⁸ They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.

MAR ⁸ Ils mangent les péchés de mon peuple, et ne demandent rien que son iniquité.

KJV ⁹ And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.

MAR ⁹ C'est pourquoi le Sacrificateur sera [traité] comme le peuple, et je le visiterai selon son train, et je lui rendrai selon ses actions.

KJV ¹⁰ For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD.

MAR ¹⁰ Et ils mangeront, mais ils ne seront point rassasiés ; ils se prostitueront, mais ils ne multiplieront point ; parce qu'ils ont abandonné l'Eternel, pour ne s'y tenir point.

KJV ¹¹ Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.

MAR ¹¹ La luxure, et le vin, et le moût, ôtent l'entendement.

KJV ¹² My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.

MAR ¹² Mon peuple demande avis à son bois, et son bâton lui répond : car l'esprit de fornication [les] a fait errer, et ils ont commis adultère se détournant de leur Dieu.

KJV ¹³ They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.

MAR ¹³ Ils sacrifient sur le sommet des montagnes, et font des parfums sur les coteaux, sous les chênes, sous les peupliers, et sous les ormes, parce que leur ombre est bonne ; c'est pourquoi vos filles se prostitueront, et les femmes de vos fils commettront adultère.

KJV ¹⁴ I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall.

MAR ¹⁴ Je ne ferai point punition de vos filles quand elles se seront abandonnées, ni des femmes de vos fils, quand elles auront commis adultère ; à cause qu'ils se séparent avec les prostituées, et qu'ils sacrifient avec les femmes débauchées ; ainsi le peuple qui est sans intelligence, sera ruiné.

KJV ¹⁵ Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Bethaven, nor swear, The LORD liveth.

MAR ¹⁵ Si tu commets adultère, ô Israël ! [au moins] que Juda ne se rende point coupable ; n'entrez donc point dans Guilgal, et ne montez point à Beth-aven, et ne jurez point ; l'Eternel est vivant.

KJV ¹⁶ For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place.

MAR ¹⁶ Parce qu'Israël a été revêche comme une génisse revêche, l'Eternel les paîtra maintenant comme des agneaux dans des lieux spacieux.

KJV ¹⁷ Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.

MAR ¹⁷ Ephraïm s'est associé aux idoles ; abandonne-le.

KJV ¹⁸ Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye.

MAR ¹⁸ Leur breuvage est devenu aigre ; ils n'ont fait que se prostituer ; ils n'aiment qu'à [dire], apportez ; ce n'est qu'ignominie que ses protecteurs.

KJV ¹⁹ The wind hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.

MAR ¹⁹ Le vent l'a enserré dans ses ailes, et ils auront honte de leurs sacrifices.

KJV ¹ Hear ye this, O priests; and hearken, ye house of Israel; and give ye ear, O house of the king; for judgment is toward you, because ye have been a snare on Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.

MAR ¹ Ecoutez ceci Sacrificateurs, et vous maison d'Israël, soyez attentifs, et [vous] maison du Roi, prêtez l'oreille ; car c est à vous de faire justice ; mais vous êtes devenus [comme] un piège en Mitspa, et comme un rets étendu sur Tabor.

KJV ² And the revolters are profound to make slaughter, though I have been a rebuker of them all.

MAR ² Et ils ont subtilement inventé les moyens d'égorger les révoltés, mais je les châtierai tous.

KJV ³ I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me: for now, O Ephraim, thou committest whoredom, and Israel is defiled.

MAR ³ Je sais qui est Ephraïm, et Israël ne m'est point inconnu : car maintenant, toi, Ephraïm, tu as commis adultère, Israël est souillé.

KJV ⁴ They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God: for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they have not known the LORD.

MAR ⁴ Leurs déportements ne permettront point qu'ils retournent à leur Dieu, parce que l'esprit de fornication est au milieu d'eux, et ils ne connaissent point l'Eternel.

KJV ⁵ And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity: Judah also shall fall with them.

MAR ⁵ Aussi la fierté d'Israël témoignera contre lui, et Israël et Ephraïm tomberont dans leur iniquité ; Juda aussi tombera avec eux.

KJV ⁶ They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the LORD; but they shall not find him; he hath withdrawn himself from them.

MAR ⁶ Ils iront avec leurs brebis et leurs boeufs chercher l'Eternel, mais ils ne le trouveront point, il s'est retiré d'avec eux.

KJV ⁷ They have dealt treacherously against the LORD: for they have begotten strange children: now shall a month devour them with their portions.

MAR ⁷ Ils se sont portés infidèlement contre l'Eternel ; car ils ont engendré des enfants étrangers ; maintenant un mois les dévorera avec leurs biens.

KJV ⁸ Blow ye the cornet in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah: cry aloud at Bethaven, after thee, O Benjamin.

MAR ⁸ Sonnez du cor à Guibha, et de la trompette à Rama ; sonnez avec retentissement à Bethaven ; on est derrière toi, Benjamin.

KJV ⁹ Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be.

MAR ⁹ Ephraïm sera en désolation au jour de la correction ; je le fais savoir parmi les Tribus d'Israël [comme] une chose certaine.

KJV ¹⁰ The princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound: therefore I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.

MAR ¹⁰ Les Gouverneurs de Juda sont autant de remueurs de bornes, je répandrai sur eux ma fureur comme de l'eau.

KJV ¹¹ Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after the commandment.

MAR ¹¹ Ephraïm est opprimé, il est brisé justement, parce que de son bon gré il est allé après le commandement.

KJV ¹² Therefore will I be unto Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as rottenness.

MAR ¹² Je serai donc à Ephraïm comme la teigne, et à la maison de Juda, comme la vermoulure.

KJV ¹³ When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then went Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb: yet could he not heal you, nor cure you of your wound.

MAR ¹³ Et Ephraïm a vu sa langueur, et Juda sa plaie ; Ephraïm s'en est allé vers le Roi d'Assyrie, et on a envoyé vers le Roi Jareb, mais il ne vous pourra pas guérir, et il ne pansera point la plaie pour vous en délivrer.

KJV ¹⁴ For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue him.

MAR ¹⁴ Car je serai comme un lion à Ephraïm, et comme un lionceau à la maison de Juda ; c'est moi, c'est moi qui déchirerai, puis je m'en irai ; j'emporterai [la proie], et il n'y aura personne qui me l'ôte.

KJV ¹⁵ I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.

MAR ¹⁵ Je m'en irai, et retournerai en mon lieu, jusqu'à ce qu'ils se reconnaissent coupables, et qu'ils cherchent ma face ; ils me chercheront de grand matin dans leur angoisse.

KJV ¹ Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

MAR ¹ Venez, [diront-ils], et retournons à l'Eternel, car c'est lui qui a déchiré, mais il nous guérira ; il a frappé, mais il nous bandera [nos plaies.]

KJV ² After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

MAR ² Il nous aura remis en vie dans deux jours, et au troisième jour il nous aura rétablis, et nous vivrons en sa présence.

KJV ³ Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

MAR ³ Car nous connaîtrons l'Eternel, et nous continuerons à le connaître ; son lever se prépare comme celui du point du jour, et il viendra à nous comme la pluie, comme la pluie de la dernière saison qui humecte la terre.

KJV ⁵ Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth.

MAR ⁵ C'est pourquoi je les ai charpentés par mes Prophètes, je les ai tués par les paroles de ma bouche, et mes jugements sur eux seront [comme] la lumière qui se lève.

KJV ⁶ For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

MAR ⁶ Car je prends plaisir à la miséricorde, et non point aux sacrifices ; et à la connaissance de Dieu, plus qu'aux holocaustes.

KJV ⁷ But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.

MAR ⁷ Mais ils ont transgressé l'alliance, comme [si elle eût été] d'un homme, en quoi ils se sont portés perfidement contre moi.

KJV ⁸ Gilead is a city of them that work iniquity, and is polluted with blood.

MAR ⁸ Galaad est une ville d'ouvriers d'iniquité, rusée à tuer.

KJV ⁹ And as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests murder in the way by consent: for they commit lewdness.

MAR ⁹ Et comme les bandes des voleurs attendent quelqu'un, ainsi les Sacrificateurs, après avoir comploté, tuent les gens sur le chemin, du côté de Sichem ; car ils exécutent leurs méchants desseins.

KJV ¹⁰ I have seen an horrible thing in the house of Israel: there is the whoredom of Ephraim, Israel is defiled.

MAR ¹⁰ J'ai vu une chose infâme dans la maison d'Israël ; là est la prostitution d'Ephraïm, Israël en est souillé.

KJV ¹¹ Also, O Judah, he hath set an harvest for thee, when I returned the captivity of my people.

MAR ¹¹ Aussi Juda te moissonnera, quand je ramènerai mon peuple captif.

KJV ¹ When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria: for they commit falsehood; and the thief cometh in, and the troop of robbers spoileth without.

MAR ¹ Comme je guérissais Israël, l'iniquité d'Ephraïm et les méchancetés de Samarie se sont découvertes, car ils ont commis fausseté, et le larron entre, et le brigand détrousse dehors.

KJV ² And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now their own doings have beset them about; they are before my face.

MAR ² Et ils n'ont point pensé en leur coeur que je me souviens de toute leur malice ; leurs déportements, qui ont été en ma présence, les ont maintenant environnés.

KJV ³ They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.

MAR ³ Ils réjouissent le Roi par leur malice, et les Gouverneurs par leurs perfidies.

KJV ⁴ They are all adulterers, as an oven heated by the baker, who ceaseth from raising after he hath kneaded the dough, until it be leavened.

MAR ⁴ Eux tous commettent adultère, [étant embrasés] comme un four que le fournier a chauffé, [après qu'il] a cessé d'éveiller depuis que la pâte est pétrie jusqu'à ce qu'elle soit levée.

KJV ⁵ In the day of our king the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scorners.

MAR ⁵ Au jour de notre Roi, on a rendu malades les Gouverneurs à force [de leur faire boire] des bouteilles de vin ; il a tendu la main aux bouffons.

KJV ⁶ For they have made ready their heart like an oven, whiles they lie in wait: their baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.

MAR ⁶ Car ils ont appliqué à leurs embûches leur coeur [embrasé] comme un four ; leur fournier dort toute la nuit, le matin [le four] est embrasé comme un feu accompagné de flamme.

KJV ⁷ They are all hot as an oven, and have devoured their judges; all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.

MAR ⁷ Ils sont tous échauffés comme un four, et ils dévorent leurs Gouverneurs ; tous leurs Rois sont tombés, et il n'y a aucun d'entre eux qui crie à moi.

KJV ⁸ Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned.

MAR ⁸ Ephraïm même se mêle avec les peuples ; Ephraïm est comme un gâteau qui n'a point été tourné.

KJV ⁹ Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.

MAR ⁹ Les étrangers ont dévoré sa force, et il ne l'a point connu ; les cheveux blancs sont déjà parsemés en lui, et il n'en a rien connu.

KJV ¹⁰ And the pride of Israel testifieth to his face: and they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this.

MAR ¹⁰ L'orgueil d'Israël donc rendra témoignage contre lui ; car ils ne se sont point convertis à l'Eternel leur Dieu, et ne l'ont point recherché pour tout cela.

KJV ¹¹ Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.

MAR ¹¹ Ephraïm est devenu comme une colombe simple, sans entendement ; [car] ils ont réclamé l'Egypte, et sont allés vers le Roi d'Assyrie.

KJV ¹² When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.

MAR ¹² [Mais] quand ils y iront, j'étendrai mon rets sur eux ; et je les abattrai comme les oiseaux des cieux ; je les châtierai, selon qu'on l'a fait entendre dans leur assemblée.

KJV ¹³ Woe unto them! for they have fled from me: destruction unto them! because they have transgressed against me: though I have redeemed them, yet they have spoken lies against me.

MAR ¹³ Malheur à eux, parce qu'ils s'égarent çà et là de moi ; ils seront exposés au dégât ; car ils ont agi méchamment contre moi ; encore les rachèterais-je, mais ils profèrent des mensonges contre moi.

KJV ¹⁴ And they have not cried unto me with their heart, when they howled upon their beds: they assemble themselves for corn and wine, and they rebel against me.

MAR ¹⁴ Ils ne crient point vers moi en leur coeur, quand ils hurlent dans leurs lits ; ils se déchiquettent pour le froment et le bon vin, et ils se détournent de moi.

KJV ¹⁵ Though I have bound and strengthened their arms, yet do they imagine mischief against me.

MAR ¹⁵ Je les ai châtiés, et j'ai fortifié leurs bras, mais ils ont pensé du mal contre moi.

KJV ¹⁶ They return, but not to the most High: they are like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.

MAR ¹⁶ Ils se retournent, [mais] non point au Souverain ; ils sont devenus comme un arc qui trompe ; les principaux d'entre eux tomberont par l'épée, à cause de la fureur de leur langue ; cela leur tournera en moquerie au pays d'Egypte.
